After reading through the best accounting we have of the facts, it reinforces my belief that the Bulls have been really, really dumb to only now get serious about Love
Commented on Are Bulls really in the mix for Kevin Love? on Jul 24 2014, 9:35a - 2 replies
Fuck that. He's making over $5M/year. He can get traded just like everyone else.
Commented on NBA Trade Rumors: Bulls 'renewed' interest in Kevin Love on Jul 23 2014, 5:09p
His price turned out to be about $8M higher

Seems sort of secondary to the news they'd include both Mirotic and McDermott
Commented on NBA Trade Rumors: Bulls 'renewed' interest in Kevin Love on Jul 23 2014, 12:50p
Taj + Mirotic + McDermott = $15.6M in outgoing salary.

If I'm the TWolves, I take that deal and run. It's a heck of a return.

No shit? Wow.
Commented on NBA Trade Rumors: Bulls 'renewed' interest in Kevin Love on Jul 23 2014, 12:01p
I'm assuming they trade Wiggins to get Love. The TWolves should laugh at any proposal that doesn't include him.

Varejao is a very good defender.

Yeah, I am. I can't imagine why Mirotic, who's also a stretch 4 and who has a trade-friendly salary, would be more off the table than McDermott.

Yes, but they'll lose Noah just as quickly.

The Bulls reportedly offered Taj, Snell and their two firsts before the draft.

I think Cleveland is over the cap though.
Commented on Bulls making renewed push for Kevin Love, per report on Jul 23 2014, 7:43a
How is that useful, since the Recently received players can't be combined in a trade?

Have the same ghostwriter most likely

It actually helps get the trade done to sign Wiggins
Commented on Bulls making renewed push for Kevin Love, per report on Jul 22 2014, 6:50p - 2 replies
Also, Taj is under contract for an extra year, so he'd be stuck there longer.
Commented on Bulls making renewed push for Kevin Love, per report on Jul 22 2014, 4:20p
Love/Gasol/Taj/Mirotic is awesome. I'd go with that and figure we'll be A-OK.

Yes, but... I don't see how that trade works either.

Gasol plays center, pretty overwhelmingly
Commented on Bulls making renewed push for Kevin Love, per report on Jul 22 2014, 2:49p
And why would Noah make sense for the TWolves?
Commented on Bulls making renewed push for Kevin Love, per report on Jul 22 2014, 2:49p - 2 replies
There's always the option of signing another type of player rather than a defensive combo guard
Commented on Bulls finalizing deal with Aaron Brooks on Jul 22 2014, 10:47a
Not a bad comparison. I think besides color, there's the fact that McDermott is pretty solid looking and Reggie Miller weights like 120lbs.
Commented on NBA Summer League: Doug McDermott and Tony Snell make Vegas SL first-team on Jul 21 2014, 12:32p - 1 reply
These seem like obviously linked decisions though. If the Bulls had preferred DJ to Kirk (as if) they likely would have signed another guy instead of Brooks.

Statistically, Brooks looks demonstrably worse

I think I'd still prefer Crawford but it's at least a respectable signing if we can get it done.

Once Stephenson officially signs his contract the Pacers won't have the ability to do a S&T anymore.

My guess is anyone who has other options is gonna use them. The Bulls, at least as I think they plan to play guys, have 0 rotation minutes left to give out.

No.
Commented on NBA Free Agency: the guard market on Jul 17 2014, 9:28a - 2 replies
Well, they've only got 11 under contract, so they literally have to sign at least 2 more
Commented on NBA Free Agency: the guard market on Jul 16 2014, 9:07p - 1 reply
The Nuggets have a zillion guys under contract though. I don't see how Dunleavy really helps them. He'd get no run behind Gaillinari and Chandler
Commented on NBA Free Agency: the guard market on Jul 16 2014, 8:05p
I think you're right in general, but it's the individual skill differences that matter

The league averages from different distances just indicate basketball is basically solvable as a Nash equilibrium
Commented on NBA Free Agency: the guard market on Jul 16 2014, 6:59p - 1 reply
I think you keep Dunleavy b/c he can play 3 different positions and shoot well

Commented on NBA Free Agency: the guard market on Jul 16 2014, 4:03p
It's not an either/or comparison. The goal is to get a good mix of players, and Crawford has something these other guys don't.
Commented on NBA Free Agency: the guard market on Jul 16 2014, 3:15p - 3 replies
And in the other thread we've got going on, people seem downright militant against the notion that Crawford might do something that Hinrich doesn't.

They moved Deng because they were gonna have to sign him to a new contract. And they have McDermott now. And Snell.
Commented on Lance Stephenson to Charlotte on Jul 16 2014, 12:57p
I agree that Butler is gonna play a ton, but they've also got enough other options it's conceivable to trade him.
