Big fan of the Cardinals, Ohio State Buckeyes, and Minnesota Vikings. Born in Minnesota and lived there until I was a teenager, and grew up rooting for Tark, Chuck Foreman, and the Purple People Eaters. Became a Cardinals fan in 2004 after I moved to St Louis, and I've been cheering for tOSU since the early 80's, when I moved to Columbus and attended OSU for a year after I graduated from high school.

When the Minnesota Vikings entered the month of December, they were starting to be touted as the best team in football. Now, with two embarrassing losses in three games and a potential budding feud between the head coach and the starting quarterback, those same folks are discounting the Vikings as a post season threat.

So, I ran some game simulations between the Vikes-Saints and the Vikes-Colts over at whatifsports.com. I ran 10 games against the Saints on a neutral field, 10 games in Minnesota, and 10 games at New Orleans. For the Vikes-Colts, it was 10 games on a neutral field.

The Vikings find themselves at 8-1, and in control of their playoff destiny. The last time the Vikings started out 8-1 was 1998, which was one of the great all-time Vikings teams. Yeah, I know how I ended, but it was still a great team. I wanted to compare this team to that team to see who, theoretically, is better. Today I’ll do offense and special teams. My next post will be defense and coaching staff.

I want to use this space to write about the Vikings and how they performed coming out of the bye week. This is the 20th anniversary of the bye week in the NFL schedule, and it came at the perfect time for the Minnesota Vikings. That said, it never comes at a good time for us, the fans. Quite frankly, the bye week sucks.
