I'm a Kansas City, MO, native serving as a combat correspondent in the Marine Corps. I've been in for five years and am currently going through a year of communications school at Syracuse University. Perk of the job...

I'm a diehard Royals, Chiefs and Mizzou fan. I've also adopted the Washington Capitals, since it is my privilege coming from a town with no NHL team to pick a club of my choosing. You won't judge me if you look at the other teams I've been blessed (born) to follow.

a fan of

Kansas City Royals Major League Baseball Team

Kansas City Chiefs National Football League Team

Missouri Tigers NCAA Men's Football Division 1A Team

Missouri Tigers NCAA Men's Basketball Division 1 Team

Washington Capitals National Hockey League Team

Rock M Nation We must maintain our "high energy" level

Wow, so I'm watching Sports Center College Gameday this morning on the East Coast, and every analyst so far has been all about Mizzou needing to maintain their "high energy" level that made the upset over Oklahoma possible.  That's been the justification for everyone to pick Nebraska over Mizzou so far.  While I'm appreciative of the karma effect, it's still frustrating that these guys who get paid at least six figures a year to tell me why I should care about football games are citing mystical qualities of motivation as the difference between victory and defeat.  Not to mention that as has been discussed on this site, last week's upset energy was more about people celebrating and experiencing a huge win than it was players getting abnormally geeked up to win said game.

Is anyone else sick of ESPN's being the only party line in the rhetoric of major sports media?  Blah.

Rock M Nation DISRESPECT...for us

I think we have a DISRESPECT card of our own to play...Andy Staples of SI is calling us (and Ok State) flop teams because, in his words, we feasted on inferior competition.  Ummm...I know we didn't start playing conference games in week two like the SEC, but wow, we handled Illinois AND a California team who beat a high-powered Air Force team last week (San Diego State).  Not to mention we destroyed Colorado and Texas A&M largely on herculean defensive efforts.  Ouch.

Rock M Nation Mizzou to the Big Ten?  Really?

This seems to be a hot topic lately...I'm curious to know what everyone thinks.  There's an article on ESPN about it you can find on the links for December 15th.

Rock M Nation Break NCAA basketball down into football-like subdivisions?

Here's an interesting thought I'd never considered.  I just heard Jay Bilas on ESPN opine that NCAA Division I basketball should be subdivided, I'm assuming much like football.

His reasoning seems to be that out of hundreds of NCAA Division I basketball teams, only a relatively small pool of squads have a shot at competing for the NCAA title.  Obviously we're not talking football here and David-Goliath upsets are much more possible in basketball, but he does have a point in my opinion.

Rock M Nation Apparently people don't like Pinkel's voting habits...

Here's SI.com's Andy Staples on Gary Pinkel's final ballot in the Coaches Poll.

"Also, while Missouri coach Gary Pinkel made an obvious effort to curb his mid-major hatred, he still needs a little more enlightenment. Pinkel, who ranked 12-0 Utah, Boise State and TCU Nos. 15-17 last year, ranked TCU fourth, but he ranked undefeated Boise State behind two-loss Ohio State, two-loss Penn State and two-loss Oregon, which lost a head-to-head matchup with the Broncos on Sept. 3."

Rock M Nation Contrary to What the Liberal Media Would Have You Believe, Here's Why Mizzou is in the Elite Eight

Is it just me, or do most of the nation's sports pundits still seem clueless about why this year's Tigers are so successful?  I still have yet to read anything more accurate or insightful about Mizzou's sudden resurgence than something along the lines of "Forty Minutes of Hell", or "Fastest 40 Minutes of Basketball", or whatever.
