Updated Poll numbers
Dave Matter provides the newest rankings for our Tigers...and they get hosed in the AP. While climbing to 21 in the coaches, the nation's 4th estate believe Nebraska's close loss is greater than Mizzou taking a I-AA to the woodshed, leaving the Huskers at 25. Also, notably, USC falls to 12. Fear the Ohio St. hangover...it's a new disease!
Okafor is leaving...no he's staying...
So, Okafor left the team Wednesday, but the AP is saying he's back on the team yesterday. So, will NU have a running game at the end of the year? STAY TUNED!
Question for our StL folk

Heading into St. Louis for the baseball game tonight. It's been a while since I've done such a thing, and didn't drive last time, so not sure where I should go to park. Was thinking the Arch parking garage, but I reckon that fills up quickly. Does anyone else have some ideas? More concerned with the distance, not really the amount (if it's 20, it's 20).
Jeff Gettys, who’s a scholarship linebacker who earned a scholarship here and is on every phase of our kicking game and is just a great attitude player, he tore his ACL. And so he’s going to be out for the remainder of the season. There was no meniscus tear or anything else, so that’s a positive from the standpoint of getting back earlier and rehabbing early.
From the Coaches Teleconference
Something needs to be done to keep these ACL's from quitting on us. Perhaps it's time for some kind of preemptive ACL surgery...like what the kids are doing with the Tommy John.
And now a word about parking...

If you haven't noticed (and you must have been under a rock to not), the parking at Football games has once again changed. As reported, the Reactor Field is no longer public. According to the MU TSF Parking Diagram, it is the current staff and media parking lot (that's a lot of media). The old lot for media and staff is now Y permit (that's across from the art building). Paying areas are Maryland and Parking Structure #7 (which will be refereed to as James) are $15 a pop. Additional to Maryland and James, the lot for the Dalton Cardiovascular Research Center (behind Blood Center) is $15. This is a wonderful lot, and not because I work there. The VA parking lot is described as "Family Friendly." Not sure what this means, but don't bring lots of beer here. They may bust you.
Because I couldn't find it forever, and the beginning of football season demands escalation.
The question remains...which Tiger throws the trident?

Cowboys down a TE
From your man on the scene Tim Griffin, Tim Mosley of OSU has left the team for personal reasons. Perhaps tied to a restraining order. Does this complicate the Cowboys season?
Forde offers no love
In the opening Forde-Yard Dash, Pat picks the Big 12 to go 11-1 this weekend...though he doesn't say it, it's looking like he's got Mizzou to fall to Illinois (he doesn't call the Illinois-Missouri game as a possible upset in the Big 10 section). Or am I wrong?
Saw this on Dave's twitter page
I'm not a journalist, but there are some parallels to some issue we in the scientific community are having with availability of published reports (data generated by way of government funds is going to free distributed to the public...and the publishing houses that run our print articles aren't too pleased). Personally, this is a bunch of bunk. I wonder how it would effect the folks from Rivals and other websites.
VERY early bowl projections
The WWL has its college bowl projections out...not that they mean a whole lot, but Mark Schlabach has MU in the Insight vs. Wisconsin. The other feller, Bruce Feldman, doesn't have Mizzou anywhere, but does have Boise St. and the Fightin' Mormans in the BSC. Both have Ole' Miss as the SEC champ. Again, early, but interesting.
Awesomeness!
I apologize if this has been linked before, but my buddy made this for me Saturday night...I'm still feeling it...
Mizzou makes NBC sports Traditions List
Mizzou's "Homecoming" is #9...but, there's some real good stuff here, and background on them....hit's most of the major ones.
End of an era
Bill Plaschke is reporting that Vin Scully may make 2010 his last in the Dodgers booth. Scully has been with the organization since 1950. One of the first people he met in LA was John Wooden. I can't imaging the stories he could tell.
Oops!
The HS coach is looking out for the little guy here. Would be interesting if there's any other fallout of players because of this little lack of tact.
OT: NHL winter classic to Fenway
I just got a copy of the news release from my father-in-law, who works for Firestone...I've copied it in its entirety after the jump (didn't copy as cleanly as i wanted, but what you gonna do?).
OHMYGODOHMYGOD
You think you've seen it all, but then this place...their Sunday special...
"SUNDAY: $2.50 Lakefront Taps & Free Bacon
Here's the deal, spend at least $2.50 get a basket of bacon! We're not kidding - while supplies last of course!"
I think Heaven just opened a kiosk in Milwaukee (Algonquin for "the good land").
Taking bacon to a new level...
I don't have a cool enough cell phone to provide a picture of this, so I'll have to do it with words until someone puts one up...Dixie Cream Donuts in CoMo (on Grindstone next to the Pizza Hut) it currently serving bacon donuts. Specifically, a longjohn topped with maple icing (to help it stick) and crumbled bacon. I tried a sample of one...it was so good I felt dirty. If fact, I had to skip actually buying one and get a bearclaw because I knew if I endulged in such a forbidden fancy, I would not be able to make it through the workday. I will, however, retrieve a picture of said donut and promtly devoure it, so as to provide you all with a complete and scientific analysis of its awesomeness....

Can one name make Huskies relevant?
From the WWL, Joe Montana's son commits to UW for 2010. Though this is only one person with a great pedigree, could this recharge a down program?
The state of sports today
While listening to David Lyle (sorry if that's spelled wrong) this morning, he commented on the salaries of coaches in the college ranks, and how that may be negatively impacting the availabilityof other sports to function. Considering that more of the big name programs in the world do not receiveanything but token funding from their general campus allotment, one would think such would not be an issue, at least not in a long range fashion. Well, one would think. However, I discovered that U. Northen Iowa has dropped their baseball program, to save 1.4 million (or so).
I stole this from a friend's Facebook page...because I'm a hater like that...
Big Pimping with the Big 12
Through various methods, mainly a large stable of fine looking ladies and a good TV contract, the Big 12 is rolling in the Benjamen's. However, some of the non-revenue teams may get axed in a move of complete panic. The WWL has the story.

Former Tiger Hits for Cycle
Ian Kinsler of the Texas Rangers went 6-6 and cycled. Here's the write up from the Dallas Morning News.
Possible doom in Lawrence
I saw talk of this on the P-D Mizzou page, then saw this post on the Beakers corner. Much like the posters in the comments section, I really hope this is a bunch of BS coming from bored folk. Otherwise, something may have hit the fan.
Griffin going Pro
Some of the wind fell out of OU's athletic sails today as Blake Griffin decided to give the NBA a shot. Don't know if he's hired an agent, but but he needs to find himself a good tailor. KU and TU now angling for the prospected top spot in the conference going into next year.
Lyons and Carroll get in on the post-post season action
From our man at Station D-T, Leo and JYD are going to be playing in the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament next week. Big ups to them, and I hope that the scouts are wowed.
So, you need something to do now that the seasons over
Watch this...my god, hysterical.
Random funny
I went to high school with this dude, and he's on Carson. Not sure if that's good for him or me, but I reckon I should name drop whenever I can.
More people realize the Tigers are good
A small piece from Sporting News and MSNBC, proclaiming the Tigers to be highly efficient in there play. Hundreds say "Duh!"
Magic and Bird brought the Madness
Great article from Wilbon (by way of MSNBC) on the '79 championship. A great read, mostly because Larry's mustache is my hero.
