Betemit to Colorado for CF Dexter Fowler and P Esmil Rogers (possible trade)

One of the "Five trades that need to be made" per a SweetSpot blog post.

Royals HOF member and television announcer Paul Splittorff close to death

I'm shocked to learn that he's not expected to make it through the week. Kind of unbelievable that he continued broadcasting through all of this treatment.

5/10 Royals lineup in da Bronx

More of that sweet, sweet Getzy-Melky top of the order action that the kids love. vs. RHP Freddy Garcia 2B Getz CF Melky LF Gordon DH Butler RF Frenchy 1B HOSS 3B Aviles C Treanor SS Escobar

Mildly interesting insights from Bob Dutton

via fan chat: On the length of Kila's leash should he struggle: "A couple of months, minimum, I'd say. Maybe longer." On Billy's clubhouse presence: "Billy is Billy. This group seems better able to accept him for what he is and not try to beat him into something he isn't." On Kyle Davies: "Royals are convinced Davies is going to get it eventually. They liken him to Jorge De La Rosa in the sense of needing time....They might be wrong, of course. But I think the rope on Davies is pretty long." On Mauer's injury: "Twins are keeping it pretty quiet. Seems like a strange deal, though. Can say this: Mauer's injury problems were a consideration in the decision to move Wil Myers from catcher to the outfield. Not the only consideration. Maybe not even a major consideration. But a factor." There's more interesting stuff in there. Worth a scroll.

Tejeda to the DL

surprise, surprise

Jason Kendall's Iron Genes Shockingly Susceptible To Natural Aging Process

More Brayan. Hello Lucas.

Royals Lineup 8/3 -- (NSFW)

Getz forgiven. Guillen forever.

OT: Joakim has compatriot coming to KC

Omar Bravo leaving Chivas for Kansas City. I'm actually pretty excited about this. A competent finisher could make this squad a playoff team, even as currently composed. Any other Wizards fans in the online Royals community?

Keith Law's Top 25 MLB Prospects Update

Insider article; I'll only excerpt Royals-related info: 17. Eric Hosmer, 1B, Kansas City. Continues to rake in High-A despite being young for the level, and he's hitting the ball with more authority of late while hitting left-handers very well. The power (just 4 HR so far) will come eventually. Previous ranking: No. 23 21. Mike Moustakas, 3B, Kansas City. Still mashing in Double-A, but his home/road split is becoming more pronounced, and he does play his home games in a hitter's park. I'm not arguing that the breakout isn't real, but when you're hitting about 80 percent of your home runs at home and just .230/.319/.420 on the road, expectations may be running a little too high. Previous ranking: No. 25 Why Not? Mike Montgomery? Because he's hit the DL twice with elbow soreness.

Jack's Smack

Jack Harry, local anchor and buzz cut enthusiast, tweeted tonight that the current Royals lineup is better at every position than the '03 "winning" version. Um, what? I replied with Beltran, Sweeney, and Ibanez as examples of his statement's ignorance. Feel free to reply to Jack with any more examples. Randa? Berroa? Even '03 Brent Mayne might overmatch '10 Jason Kendall.

Neyer hopping on the Royal Express

"After last night's dramatic victory, the Royals are sitting in first place in the standings with a 16-11 record. More to the point, they rank eighth in the league in home runs (which is great, for them) and fifth in walks (which is incredible). Oh, and the Beane Count? At this moment, Billy Beane's Athletics are last in the league, and Dayton Moore's Royals are first. I never thought I would have occasion to write those words."

Mock Cleveland Tourism Video

Not really baseball related, but what better thing is there to do on an off-day than engage in some schadenfreude with our divisional rivals? The Royals should totally play this on Crown Vision before the next home game with the Indians.

Great Interview with Greinke

He knows geography, the future of transportation, and that Jessica Simpson is an idiot. We need to lock this guy up.
