Details how one 2009 NFL team went from the second-worst defense in the NFL when pressuring opposing passers with one or more defensive backs to the best in the NFL after a single draft by finding that "safe" pick.

This article also trys to identify the 2011 NFL Draft player positions that could be some of the safest to pick. Good read.

Arrowhead Pride Thigpen's role.

I have heard reports that the QB position will be an open battle, however I find it hard to believe.  We bring in a franchised QB player and tell him that he will have to win the spot???  I have been thinking about Thighpen, (I believe that he should have been the #1 going in....) does anyone else think that Thiggy might be running some routes in game?

Thigpen has speed, and a decent set of hands.  We have seen double passes and halfback passes in the past.  Why wouldn't the Chiefs set Thiggy out in a 3 WR set and have Cassel throw it to Thiggy (behind the line) and then Thiggy would have the option to run or pass from there.

What do you guys think of Thigpens role, will it be strictly as a bench player ready to step in or will or HC and OC have different plans?

I might have been a little tipsy when typing this, so excuse me.....lol.....GO KC!

Arrowhead Pride Why no press conference?

Does anyone have any idea of why the KC Chiefs have not held any press conference about the trade for QB Matt Cassel & LB Mike Vrabel?  I don't want to speculate that there could be more to this trade that just has not developed yet.  But why else would they wait?  Almost all of the other FA and Trade pickups have been announced via press conference, so it made me wonder.  What do you guys think?

Why haven't QB Matt Cassel & LB Mike Vrabel been introduced officially by KC via Press Conference?

Arrowhead Pride LB Karlos Dansby Franchised by Arizona

While we wait for the Free Agency Market to open, Arizona put a large (but not huge) dent into a lot of KC Chiefs fan's hope to sign LB Karlos Dansby.  NFL.com Wire Reports (http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d80eca186&template=with-video-with-comments&confirm=true) broke the story about two hours ago.

The Non Exclusive Franchise tag means that he can still look elsewhere, but as the story reports, he would like to get a long term deal done with Arizona.  With the hiring of his former DC (Pendergast) does KC have a shot at convincing him to come over?  KC would have to fork over some draft picks to Arizona in compensation, is it worth it?

Poll
If Arizona cannot lock Karlos Dansby with a long term deal before the FA Market opens;
KC should agressively go after him and compensate Arizona as required.

KC should look into signing him but be cautions.

Arrowhead Pride Michael Crabtree vs. Jeremy Maclin

I for one believe that we can forgoe the QB spot this year in the Draft.  Lets wait until next off-season when there is a better selection to draft from.  If the Chiefs were to draft a WR in the first round, I think that they would have a few options but wanted to look at only two of them.

With the 3rd Pick in the Draft the Chiefs could go with Michael Crabtree.

-From http://www.nfl.com/combine/profiles/michael-crabtree?id=71269,

There simply was nothing more for Crabtree to prove at the collegiate level after winning the Biletnikoff Award in both seasons playing in Texas Tech coach Mike Leach's high-octane offense. The All-American racked up 231 catches for 3,127 yards and 41 touchdowns in just two years after dominating the scout team practices his redshirt season. He also had the play of the year in 2008 with his amazing touchdown catch against Texas to seal Tech's upset in Lubbock. Unlike past productive receivers in Leach's offense, Crabtree's size, strength and pure playmaking ability would have enabled him to produce in any collegiate system, and scouts expect the success to continue at the next level.

The other option that I can is is to make a trade out of the 3 spot to around the 15th spot (Houstan Texans) (also picking up additional picks).  At this spot the Chiefs could have a shot at Jermey Maclin (Missouri).

-From http://www.nfl.com/combine/profiles/jeremy-maclin?id=80429

The definition of an impact player, Maclin was named an All-American as a receiver and returner in each of his two starting seasons in Columbia. A highly touted prep prospect who turned down Ohio State, Oklahoma and Notre Dame, among others, to sign with Missouri, Maclin appeared well on his way toward establishing himself as a starter as a true freshman before suffering a horrific knee injury.

His success a year later certainly proved his health. Maclin tallied 2,776 all-purpose yards, which was an NCAA Division I-A single-season freshman record, and was the fifth-most ever by any player in a season in Division I-A history.

With numbers like that, no one expected him to match his 2007 totals -- and he didn't. He exceeded them, generating 2,833 all-purpose yards in 2008.

After accumulating more than 5,600 all-purpose yards in two years, Maclin is a threat to score on every carry (scored six career rushing touchdowns), reception (22) or return (three punts, two kickoffs). His solid frame, elite speed and elusiveness are reminiscent of an early Joey Galloway, and could translate into a top 15 selection. Maclin was eligible to enter the draft this spring because he missed his true freshman season with a knee injury suffered in July practices.

I think that the need of the Chiefs to improve their Special teams might weigh heavily on their minds this draft.  No doubt that Crabtree could come in and start opposite of D Bowe and that KC would have a elite WR corps in the making for the near future.  Maclin (homegrown talent) would be a great playmaker within our offense too, taking snaps at the Slot receiver and lining up to return kicks.  I think that the Chiefs might want to look into this possibility.

Arrowhead Pride Michael Vick

First off, I am a very big fan of allowing Tyler Thigpen to have a shot at the Starting QB spot.  However, this did intrigue me.

Apparently the Atlanta Falcons are attempting to trade Vick's contractual rights.  Many football experts have already stated that they do not think that a trade will happen (why spend $45 Million on a QB that just did 23 months in jail?).  Here is my question that I put up to you fellow KC Fans.  Is Michael Vick worth picking up for the veteran minimum to come in for a look afte being cut/released by ATL?

Arrowhead Pride Offensive / Defensive Coordinator Options

We know that Chan Gailey (for now) is in the mix for the OC job under Haley.  Other than Gailey, has there been any info of who Haley may want to have in the OC position?  What proven/upcoming OCs are still out there?

On the other side, we do know that there is a DC vacancy.  One of the top DCs went to the NY Jets (Rex Ryan) HC position.  So, anyone have info to who is left?  From what I read on this site, everyone wants (Including Haley) a tough smash-mouth Defense, but who out there can coach and scheme it for us?

Arrowhead Pride Free Agency 2009 - Do Chiefs have options?

We all know that the Chiefs have quite a few holes and places of need.  Does anyone really believe that they will not try to fill some of those holes via Free Agency?  Using this sight; http://www.footballsfuture.com/freeagents.html I have listed a few FAs that might be worth a look.

Albert Haynesworth (27 Yrs Old), UFA, Tennessee Titans, DT
Haynesworth has had his share of controversy surrounding him in the past, but he’s turned things around and has focused on simply playing the game. This year, he improved upon his ’07 season by totaling 8.5 sacks, making 51 total tackles, and forcing three fumbles. The Titans look like a different team on defense depending on whether or not Haynesworth is on the field; with him on the field they are one of the best defenses in the league because of the pressure he takes off of others. Expect Tennessee to work hard to keep him in hopes that he continues to bolster their defensive play as a whole.

Terrell Suggs (26 Yrs Old), UFA, Baltimore Ravens, OLB
Being a linebacker that also works at defensive end has helped Suggs become an end that can track the ball above average. In his first six NFL seasons, Suggs has made 368 total tackles and earned 53 sacks. Suggs may not be as rewarded as Peppers or Haynesworth will be in free agency, but he will certainly be pursued by a number of teams who want to save a little money and still come away with a quality defensive end. Baltimore is constantly pumping out quality defensive players, so they may not be willing to match a big offer if one comes along, but they will miss Suggs if they lose him.

Does anyone else think that the Chiefs may have some of these FAs on their radar?
