Is that a scarf I spy. And has anyone else ever done team issue black shiny shoes? Lots more to enjoy in this gallery

New kit spot - the return of THE FOOT
For reasons best known to themselves, a girls team in Asti and sponsored by Footon and Servetto has, rather than design their jersey anew, come to an agreement with Mauro Gianetti to use the version his Pro Tour team rode in back in 2010.
Because, because, because, because, because, because, because.
Rotterdam 6 Days preview video
Because like it starts tomorrow. So go here to see what's coming then bookmark that page because it will turn in to a live stream tomorrow. That's right, a live stream complete with four different cameras, and if you miss anything then they've got a page ready for highlight clips, and a twitter feed to let you know what you missed. And if you can't wait to get in to the mood then head over to You Tube and listen to a bit of Frans Bauer.
So who's there? The men's side has a certain "didn't he used to be banned" quality with Iljo Keisse and Alex Rasmussen both present alongside old stalwarts Danny Stam, Robert Bartko, Peter Schep and Franco Marvulli. The sprinters' competition looks to be a head to head (or is that thigh to thigh) between French stars Mickaël Bourgain and Kévin Sireau, while the women's race sees junior World Champ Lucy Garner trying hard to not be humiliated by giant sprinter Kirsten Wild.
The programme kicks off at 18:00 local time every day, and here's thursday's schedule. You can find the rest of the week's events under the Bezoekersinfo menu. We may even have a live thread or two if we feel in the right mood. Ting-a-ling
Emma Pooley and friends to AA Drink - And it's about time too
We've been waiting for news of this for a month or so, but today Wielerland seems to have official confirmation that Emma Pooley will be riding for AA Drink - leontien.nl in 2012. And she's not coming alone, nor merely bringing the British contingent with her; no less than six ex Garmin-Cervelo will be lining up in that green, blue and yellow strip next year (is it too late for a "bring back the pink" grassroots campaign?), that's Emma herself, Lizzie Armitstead, Lucy Martin, Sharon Laws, Jessie Daams and Carla Ryan. No mention yet of where Alexis Rhodes will go, but as Wielerland suggest that Emma wanted to look after her old teammates, she's probably got somewhere sorted.
That looks to be the last big transfer news of this off season, but little snippets have been drifting in over the past weeks, and I've been doing my best to keep my transfer thread up to date. Check it out if you think you've missed something on the way (or if you see that I've missed something), and roll on VDS 2012.
Vos was gridded first. At that point my stomach did a bit of a flip. I couldn’t believe I was lining up in the same race as Marianne Vos!
Win a lifesize* model of Lizzie Armitstead
* If she were a marmotte. A very small one. Very, very small.
OK it's just a Scalextric velodrome set. And it probably sucks if you draw the outside lane.
Professor of the Grande Boucle - is this a cool job or what
Just a little evidence that life as a professional cyclist ain't necessarily a dead end.

Gianni Savio facing four year ban
I'm shocked I tell you, shocked. CONI, the Italian anti-doping authorities have asked that Gianni Savio, manager of Androni etc., be given a four year ban as a result of information they've been given by the prosecutor of Massa. Is this a completely new doping inquiry?
So you want to ride in Europe? Can you cope with AIS camp?

Egon van Kessel not going back to Garmin-Cervelo women's team
Here's a link to the translated version. And the story concludes worryingly:
According to him there is great unrest in the women's team Garmin-Cervélo. The fact is that some riders looking for shelter elsewhere.

Women’s Transfer News – Gissa Job Special
Transfer news has been coming in so fast lately, and in such big stories, that it’s not fair to hide these things in comments at the bottom of a story on page 3. And after a couple of years when we’ve spent the winter months wailing about the shrinking of the peloton and the loss of what were once great teams, suddenly five of them have come along at once. And that's just the UCI ones, because I've also heard of two more new national teams. And to go with them we even have a few more new races. So when a potential superstar like Pauline Ferrand Prevot can say quite openly in an interview "I dream of riding the big road races in a big international team" ( CyclismActu interview ) then it's about time for someone to give those shrinking violets standing by the bar and staring at the bottom of their glass a great big kick in the backside.

Women's Transfer News Summary
The transfer stories have been pouring in for the last month, so if you are losing track of who's going where follow overleaf for a handy, one-page, clip-out and keep precis which I'll update as and when the news reaches me.
Allez Christel - Watch half an hour of Christel Ferrier Bruneau preparing for the cyclocross season. It's about far more than the bike.
Here's some video from the final race in the Lotto Cycling Cup at Breendonk
Giro di Toscana - now with video
Now all the stage videos from last month's Giro di Toscana - Memoria Michaela Fanini have been posted, so if you've got a spare hour or three to kill then enjoy.
Floyd Landis on (Double Secret) Probation
I guess it's time to stop evading responsibility.
Giro di Toscana Stage 1 video
OK it's only a team time trial which doesn't make for the most thrilling viewing, but the other stages are due to appear there at some point. But where else other than Italy do you still see people riding convertibles seven to a car and sitting on the trunk.
Zomegnan - gone but not forgotten
A couple of rather nice juicy stories in Tuttobici that you might find interesting. First the Zomegnan being shifted aside at RCS (latest suggestion is that he will becoame a director at Gazzetta), well that one's been floating around for some time. But just to show that he will always be there in spirit, there is talk that next year's Giro will include a Time Trial from Bormio up to the top of the Stelvio. Or is it meant to be one of those red pill - blue pill situations?
Preview: Tour Feminin en Limousin
20-24th July
The stage racing season continues this week with yet one more race. If they are coming at you so fast that you are having difficulty distinguishing them, then here’s a little primer to help you get it clear in your head.
Marianne Vos takes us through her Giro win from last winter and stage by stage
Cicloweb have managed to score a really great interview with Marianne Vos. They have got her to describe in lots of detail her preparations for this season, for the Giro in particular, and to go through her day by day plans and preparation. If the Google Gnomes are playing mean games then post their gibberish and I'll try and unravel, but otherwise go and enjoy. A few points:
She lost four to five kilos last winter specifically to help her get up from the mountains. From where I don't know. She tried to do so without losing her power and acceleration.
Her performance in the Emakumeen Bira gavbe her a lot of confidence that she was doing it right. All her previous "mountain" training had been simulated in Holland.
Stage 3 to Ferrmo took a lot out of her, hence I guess the 10th place on the next day. She thought that stage was a key point and believed that Emma Pooley was disappointed by her own performance.
During the last few km of the Mortirolo stage she was thinking a lot about Carly Hibberd.
If you saw that video of her on teh ground after the chrono, well that's how she usually is. She always needs a few minutes to recover.
Next year the Olympics will be her priority and she doesn't expect to be competitive at the Giro. But she'll be back in 2013.
Doing 'cross helps her bike handling and her explosive force.
She is also thinking about taking up mountain biking again. Not in 2012 (Olympics), not in 2013 (Giro) but sometime.
There's loads more in there, so go and enjoy
Dwars door de Westhoek
It's been a hectic few days for women's racing and this one slipped through the preview net, but today the Dwars door de Westhoek was run in Belgium and Grace Verbeke won a two-up sprint with break companion Janneke Ensing to show that she's recovered from her bizarre double crash in the Giro where the neutral service car that was meant to be helping her accidentally dumped her back on the ground again. This is a cat 5 VDS race and points go down to 10th place:
1. Grace Verbeke de 125 km in 3u26:15 (gem. 36,22 km/u)
2. Janneke Ensing (Ned)
3. Martine Bras (Ned) op 1:20
4. Liesbet De Vocht;
5. Nathalie Maborelle (Lux);
6. Sofie De Vuyst 1:21;
7. Christine Majerus (Lux) 1:23;
8. Petra Dijkman (Ned);
9. Marijn de Vries (Ned) 1:24;
10. Emma Grant (GBr) 1:50;
If you want to see how the race unfolded then Dolmans team boss Bart Faes was tweeting updates. Or if we're lucky then Podium Cafe Legend Miffy Galloway who was also there racing will write a blog.
Cyclists rescued from Snow on the Galibier, 3° C
A group of 150-200 cyclists taking part in an Alpine brever had to be rescued today from the Col de Galibier after the weather turned nasty and they learned that T-shirts and shorts provide very little defence against hypothermia.
Let's hope it gets better before Thursday.
