So do competitive teams have a winning percentage of .381 against winning teams? Would you consider that to be "competitive"?
Commented on Wally Backman named Pacific Coast League Manager of the Year on Aug 29 2014, 5:04p - 1 reply
Well, once in a while, I hear that TC has kept them competitive and done a good job. But usually, the narrative is more like "TC has them playing hard"

In 2013 - 24-46 vs the 2013 playoff teams...so a .342 winning percentage

This is the TC narrative that somehow isn't played out by now. Don't question. Just swallow.

Ha. Well, everything is fine in moderation. That's really the key.

No, no, I think you're consistently funnier/wittier (and with better and more varied references). Seriously. See, this comment is not even funny. It's serious.

You can pick just about any start/end point you want, and he's MUCH better than he was last year.

And again, my point with that is that he has started off slow at each level and then has figured it out - which I think is valid.

I was just correcting a point.
Commented on Mets Daily Prospect Report, 8/28/14: Thus Spake Thoroastra on Aug 28 2014, 12:28p
I guess my main point is that you were pointing to his A+ line instead of looking at the totality of his 2014 season and then comparing it to his career averages or even 2013
Commented on Mets Daily Prospect Report, 8/28/14: Thus Spake Thoroastra on Aug 28 2014, 12:03p - 1 reply
Actually, Gavin's first 94 AB's in Savannah weren't great, but he figured it out after that
Commented on Mets Daily Prospect Report, 8/28/14: Thus Spake Thoroastra on Aug 28 2014, 11:58a - 1 reply
Well, you were comparing to his career rates, which is still ignoring his Savannah stats this year (not fair to lump them in with his career stats). I was just looking at the progress he's made this year.
Commented on Mets Daily Prospect Report, 8/28/14: Thus Spake Thoroastra on Aug 28 2014, 11:49a
While this is true, I think you're also ignoring the fact that Gavin's .259/.333/.408/.741 line is Savannah was just fine

I just don't want to see them end up with the 11th pick. That's beyond frustrating. 12th or 13th pick - that's fine. Just not the 11th.

Well, I have no idea. Last year, I thought most people were being unrealistic about the cost of free agents, and it turns out, I was being unrealistic too. :)
