Just What the Doctor Ordered: Marquette 94, DePaul 64

Just when you need a good blowout, here comes DePaul, right on cue

Marquette 73, Rutgers 65

Marquette moves to 2-0 in the Big East with a win at Rutgers.

The Truth About Transfers (Or Something Like That)

No biggie. Everyone has transfers, right. Right?

It appears reports of Joe Fulce's demise may have been a tad premature this morning. Professional journalist Todd Rosiak blogs that the injury is actually just a "severe bone contusion", not something more serious as was reported earlier. Joe is doubtful for Saturday, and will likely be somewhat limited by that bad knee going forward. But when compared to the prospects of having his season, and potentially his Marquette career, ended, this is very welcome news.

Marquette 86, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 50

A recap of Marquette's best all around game of the season.

Marquette 96, Longwood 65. A recap of the carnage.

No. 22/18 Gonzaga 66, Marquette 63

Based on Marquette's recent history in pre-season tournaments, this was not how you would have thought this year's trip to Kansas City would end up.  In case you're new to the program, or just...

A Few Quick Hitters on Recruiting

A few players on Marquette's wish list set to make decisions this week.

Trey McDonald Commits to Ohio State

It has been confirmed that Trey McDonald, 6'9" post man from Battle Creek, MI, has given verbal commitment to Thad Mata and the Ohio State. He was one of the players that was in attendance at Friday's Marquette Madness. This is kind of a bummer to me. Despite all the attention that Mike Shaw and Rodney Hood have gotten, I was hoping that McDonald might end up at MU. Oh well. Them's the breaks. Now attention can turn to Hood and/or Nick Faust, the 6'4" guard from Baltimore. Rumor has it that Shaw may wait until spring to make a decision.

The Madness Report

Mr. Kensington gives his take on Marquette Madness

Let's Get MAD!!!

It's Marquette Madness time! College hoops is finally back!

D'Angelo Harrison Chooses St. John's

Ok, now I'm irritated. If Coach Lavin wants to stockpile top 50 recruits over there in NYC that's fine, but stop swiping guys off of MU's wish list. Say what you want about Lav as a coach, and I know recruiting is a crap shoot... But if you're trying to resurrect a program it's way easier to start with top talent.

Sooo... Is It Basketball Season Yet?

August is boring. Is it hoops season yet?

Ooh, Lance, No.

Former Bearcat Lance Stephenson is in the news today for all the wrong reasons. I really get the feeling that him bolting for the league is going to be addition by subtraction for UC this year.

SBN Wisconsin Hall of Fame Nomination #9: Travis Diener

Think Travis Diener is a Wisconsin Sports Hall of Famer? We do.

Bobby G Arrested for Shoplifting

In other hilarious news concerning former Seton Hall coach Bobby Gonzalez: Bobby was arrested today on suspicion of boosting a $1400 satchel from a Polo store in a New Jersey mall. Guess Gonzo needed to get his thiefing rush on someplace since he's not stealing paychecks from Seton Hall anymore.

Matthews Gets an Offer

No surprise here, but the Utah Jazz made their qualifying offer to Wesley Matthews today. Matthews played in all 82 games last season as a rookie, when he made the team as an unrestricted free agent. He started 48 games and averaged 9.4 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.5 assists. Terms were not disclosed.

Hayward Impresses Bucks

So apparently things went well for Lazar yesterday. When Bucks' Director of Scouting, Bill McKinney, was asked if he thought Hayward would definitely get drafted he replied, "Yes. No doubt."

Lazar Getting Some Love

Looks like it isn't just us homers that think Lazar Hayward could find himself playing in the NBA next season. Andy Katz, and a few others in the know, seem to agree as well.

Lazar Hayward Does the NBA Dance

Well the ping pong balls have spoken, and the Washington Wizards are anxiously awaiting the beginning of the John Wall era.  That means NBA draft season is officially upon us.  Truth be told I...

Lofty Peaks: Your 2009-2010 Marquette Highlights

Our favorite moments of the '09-'10 Marquette season.

A Badger Leaves the Team

UW announced that giant white stiff, Ian Markholff has "decided" to leave the Badger basketball team. This is clearly just another case of that underhanded snake Bo Ryan, pushing out a player so he can bring in the next big recruit. Once again Ryan breaks a promise to a kid because he needs that scholarship. This just sickens me! And of course the explanation is "education", as if anyone stays in Madison just to go to school. I hope Bo can get his knife out of this poor kid's back as he leaves the locker room. Lord knows he's going to need it for the next kid whose dreams he crushes.

Roberts Out at St. John's

I know this happened yesterday, but I was still curled up in the fetal position on my living room floor and couldn't comment on it. I'm kind of surprised they got rid of him, I thougt they were coming around.

I Still Hurt

It's been two days now.  Two days since Quincy Pondexter walked right to the rack and scored that heartbreaking bucket.  Two days since Lazar Hayward's half court attempt at an NCAA Tournament...

2006 vs 2010: A Tale of the Tape Retrospective

As the 2010 Tournament approaches, there is a lot of talk the about what was or wasn't expected out of this year's Marquette squad.  We've heard all about all the dire preseason predictions, the...

A Lofty MU Prediction

It seems the folks at, with all their science and statistics, think pretty highly of Marquette. They give them a 21% chance of winning the East Region. Only UK and Bucky have higher percentages. They also said on The D-List today that they have MU in their Elite 8.

So Let's Dance!

It's the most wonderful time of the year!  Well, as long as your team is one of the privileged few that will be particpating in the greatest of America's sporting events that is. Selection time is...
