As we get closer and closer to April’s Draft (please, just get here already) I am beginning to sense that perhaps nobody’s stock is rising faster than Florida State quarterback Christian Ponder who had a private workout with the Vikings brass on Tuesday.

Ponder has long been considered a second round pick by the draftnik community for a long time, but now I am nearly convinced he will not escape the first round. I have even seen him mocked as high as #15 to Miami.

So, my question for you this week is when you would be okay with the Vikings considering drafting the Senior Bowl MVP.

When would you be okay with the Vikings drafting Christian Ponder?
#12 overall
First round, but trade back
second round
third round or later
Don't draft him at all

"I was still missing a little bit toward the end of the year, which I feel when I’m at my best, I shouldn’t be missing," he said. "But it’s like coach Fisher says. I think it’s something like strive for perfection but knowing full well you’re not going to get there. So that’s the goal."

Hopkins said by the time he leaves FSU, he’d like to be comfortable kicking field goals from 70 yards.

"Why not?" he said with a smile.

Baez said the stabbing took place just outside the front doors of the campus rec center, where he said the football team and other FIU athletes train.

Berry, from Haines City, Fla., was involved in an argument with one or more people, Baez said.

"One produced some type of a weapon and stabbed him," Baez said.

Television images showed several students, including some identified as FIU athletes, hugging and crying later Thursday night near the spot where the stabbing took place. One student dropped to her knees in grief just inside the doorway, screaming.

Tomahawk Nation Bracketology Intrigue and Science

Both Polmeroy and Sagarin predict that we beat Gonzaga.  Kentucky has a difficult road ahead.   Besides being the weakest of the #1’s, they have a brutal bracket that reduces their Final Four chances by 5-10%.  The sweetest draw belongs to the Syracuse Orange.

For those looking to call that historic upset, both Syracuse and Kentucky are about twice as likely to lose their first round matches as Kansas & Duke.

Here are 2 articles that I think can help fill out your brackets~~!

For most college basketball fans, the work of the selection committee is now old news. The most important decisions in their lives now - college basketball-wise, at least - are which sleepers to pick or which teams to put in their Final Four.

Don't get us wrong - we can't wait for the tournament to get started on Thursday, either. But a post by one of readers today made us turn back the clock to yesterday and investigate what appears what seems to be a serious information leak at CBS.

B101 reader "Coach" posted a link in our comments section Monday about a Maryland mesage board, InsideMDSports, that published information about the bracket before it came out. Here's what the post said:

At 5:17 p.m. ET (43 minutes BEFORE the start of the Selection Show), user "goterps04" posted the following:

Subject: Taking down the loud headline now. (Bracket talk).

No. 1 seeds: Kansas, Kentucky, Cuse, Duke

No. 2 seeds: K-State, NOVA, OSU, WVU

Terps start out first round in Spokane.....MARYLAND V HOUSTON ROUND ONE. TERPS A 4 SEED. IN THE MIDWEST REGION.

MICHIGAN STATE IS THE 5 SEED THEY WILL PLAY NEW MEXICO STATE.

KANSAS IS THE NO. 1 SEED IN THIS BRACKET.

VIRGINIA TECH IS OUT.

FLORIDA IS IN. MISS STATE IS OUT.

Bracket Building
Using Tempo-Free Stats

by Pete Tiernan

Fortunately, that's just the kind of question that PASE can help answer. Ken was generous enough to share with me the pre-tourney data from 2004 to 2008 so that I could conduct this analysis. Five years isn't exactly a huge sample size, but it's worth finding out as early as possible whether there's any connection between tempo-free stats and tourney success so that we can track it into the future. With that, let's take a look at the four possession-based stats and use PASE to analyze their predictive value.

Playing Tempo

Possession-based stats remove the bias of playing tempo from the assessment of a team's offensive or defensive effectiveness. Eliminating the influence of tempo assumes, however, that there isn't any inherent value in playing the game faster or slower that supercedes efficiency. It's a reasonable assumption, but is it true, particularly in the pressure cooker of March Madness? Does an up-tempo style of play lead to tourney overachievement, or are more deliberate teams more likely to exceed seed expectations?

We evaluated the tempo statistics and tourney results of the 120 teams seeded one through six since 2004 (restricting our analysis to the teams expected to have the most success), and here's what we found:

POMEROY RANKS FSU 15TH, RPI IS 32ND (YAHOO)

The significance of this, I believe, is that we are guaranteed a ticket to the dance.

We are also 32nd on the yahoo rpi list.

I am worried that the selection committee and Espn seem to focus all upon the Big East. I am pretty sure that other teams will not want to meet Maryland and FSU in the dance.

Clemson and Wake either for that matter. The Booker brothers are pretty awesome

Whatever the case, in the Polmeroy, FSU is still ranked 3rd in the ACC right behind Maryland.. and in the 15th spot.

And we are tied for 3rd in the ACC.

This might be good for 3 seed if we win out.

Tomahawk Nation Seminole Signing Day Press Conference Spectacular Notes

Seminole Signing Day Press Conference spectacular

900 people in attendance.
The Beginning

All of the coaches were just beaming with confident and pride at the class signed.
In attendance
TK
Booster President, Scott Atwell
Spetman
Dakota Watson
Ryan McMahon
Christian Ponder

Class of 99, with Seminole Boosters Nick Maddox

Bowden told a joke.  speak spanish to chinese guy (joke didn't go down)

said rules have it that the head coach can only visit a guy 1 time. So he passes 100s
of boys but doesn't know where they came from
"whats bad is when you go up to a junior and ask them, what school do you come from?"

Talked aobut how recruiting has changed and gave Bob Ca.. a lot of credit.. talked aobut

juniors being recruited now

Booster president Alwell who is moderating, says thank you in spanish. (joke didnt go down)

James Coley spoke first and mentions jokingly how he was there with Bowden translating for him.

 (didn't go down)

James went on and on about how he had 17 commitments before the season and the chore it is to

keep treating them like gold

LasVegas said 21 of 26 recruits that visited made a commitment.

James went on about all the people that helped the recruits feel the love, made them feel at

home, and the people that make up the beatiful buildings are real and that they care about

their children. about the staff and coaches that rallied together to keep the recruits when

other schools came ofter some of the recruits. there were some stories, he never told.  He was

proud of the 100 juniors, but if they could they would have 100 more sophmores.  said that

recruiting is always changing and we have to keep on top of it.  We signed no TE, we have 2 FR

on the roster, Stork is going to be a tweener between TE and OL, and looks like Trickett will

have him.

Lacivita came and said Coley was on tv in the morning as an informercial.  A lot of hard work,

year long process.  got to have players to compete.  in nfl you have coaching staff and

recruiting department.  1. evaluate talent. 2. be a great salesman.  Some schools go out and

hire the best salesman to be their recruiters.

Evaluated 300 prospects by March. He said the staff analyzed 300 recruits, not counting

unsolicited mail.  1329 unsolicited tapes were watched.  number of prospects 1200ish, and 145

mail pieces (each), ie 1 every 2 days, ie. 72300 pieces of mail.  40200 emails, linked to fear

the spear.com.  (FSU)

Official visits and unofficial visits.  camps.  every game is an unofficial visit.

signed 21 of 26 official visits.  added 4 in last 2 days.  started strong and finished strong.

thanked Tk - home game speaksd to prospectss, spetman, compliance Battle, food service who he

praised to high level of importance.  and academic support staff, other professors who help.

Shows a 3-D highlight film shown to the recruits, and only at FSU is this done.

Clinton Purvis was praised for some unspoken thing.

Dexter Carter

comes aand says he is only as good as his players, happy about 2 returning

sofphmores,

talks about Lonnie and Chris being in the top 15 players in the state, and how they look

opposite ends of the spectrum, one is 5.8 170 pounds and the other is 6.1 and 195 lbs.  But he

says, they are both very impressive ball players, and they can both run inbetween the tackles,

both can get the ball to the outside and take it the distance, and the both know how to put

their foot in the ground and make people miss with various moves.  both have great hands, and

can catch and both will be on special team.s.  they both love Fsu and kept their commits and

have a vested interest to see FSU go to a championship.  They are coachable and will learn.

Lawrence Dawsey

comes up with giant smile.  Talks about how camps make everyone comfortable

with each other and they love FSU and they remember the greatness of FSU, they comitted early,

and people came at them, but they are solid and stayed committed.
****************
Downs, have to fight Andrews for him, and he dominated Antonio bowl .  Probably one the best

athletes in the state.  punter, kicker, can play both ways. hope he can work hard and make

himself ready.
*****************
Next guy is 6.6 replacement for carr. He can hit. Played safety as well.   he can do

everything.  Rodney Smith small number of catches and showed himself at camp.  Wing T doesnt

get much
******************
guy from Belle Glades, Wille Haulstead, moved to Titusvile, so he can focus. on school work.

His hands are so big they swallow  Dawseys hands. he can play on both sides of the football.

He was very excited about them.  and it showed.  "his kind of football players"

Trickett

comes up with his t-shirt hanging out, and says signed 4 OL and countered what is a

"big misconception" that he wanted to straighten out. he doesnt want small OL, but he wants

them to be "as big as they can be" "as fast as they can be" and "as tall as they can be" just

as long as they can play 4 quarters wide open.  Now if they cant do that then we got to lose

some weight. And we showed that in 5 games last year

Stork, was a tight end and came to football camp as a DE, and we asked him to go down to work

at Center and I "really really liked what I saw"  He has huge hands. Big Feet, a TOUGH guy.

Really Really a tough guy, and he is a competitor.  smart kids.  you know he is a kid that lost

his dad right there in the season and he lost some weight and he was kinda bothered and

everything. and I had to comfort him, his mom and dad split. so this kid is my kind of guy. He

is on his own right now. Hard-nosed kid, and a worker. he put some faith in us to take care of

him and that is what we are gonna do.
*******************

Henry Orlus,
from Belle Glade, comitted to LSU, and he came to camp, and I gave them a break

and they went over to get some water, and he was the only one walking, and so I went over and

"wispered in his ear" a few things and told him he just might want to go ahead and walk over to

LSU if he was gonna keep walking around here. I got after him pretty good in that camp, and

Hell I had nothing to lose as he was already committed to LSU, and  so he goes to LSU's camp

and they're driving back home and he say, you know, I kinda like that guy over at Florida

State. So he stops the car and calls over and commits to us. So sometimes if you are honest

with them and show them what its really going to be like, then you end up getting that kind of

guy.

****************
John Prior from Portsmouth OHio, coach Bowden talked to him about 5 minutes and said, "Son, you

havent had anything given to you your whole life, I can tell that by talking to you for 5

minutes."  So Prior says, no I was working  on a log chain since I was 13 years old, and he

works right now from 6 pm to 11 pm every night to pay the bills. He is a blue collar guy, a

giant, a huge kid, 6.6 about 275, and can stand there flat footed and put both palms of his

hand on the ground.  He is very flexible and I am excited about.

*****************

Aubrey Phillips is the last one and he stumbled on him by accident looking for a Wr for Dawsey,

so he went over to BookerTWashington, and inner city Memphis school without a weightroom or an

OL coach. But his steop dad transfers him to Olive City, right across the state lines and they

got a great program. He committed to TEnnessee and if they hadnt fired Philmer, I dont know if

we would have him right now because he was pretty close to coach Philmer.
Auburn had landed a scholarship to another player on his team hoping to get him, and when

Auburn heard that he was wavering a little bit they threatened to pull his scholarship.  So

Aubrey went to his visits last week, wore an Auburn shirt, all last week and up until today,

until his Buddy signed his scholarship and sent it to Auburn and then took off the Auburn shirt

and had a garnet and gold shirt underneath. Signed his letter and sent it in to us.  clappage
Most of the credit for signing these guys should go the kids we already have on campus because

they did all the work and deserve all the credit for signing these guys. starts waving the

list***

***************

Fisher..

Will Secord
Not in the qb business at the end of the year.  Got a great one the year before, so werent in

the big qb business. We thought we would if we could get one to be able to win the nc.  but you

can never pass up on those guys. With the situation with Dvontrey happening we talked about him

moving over to safety. If we had him on the team we could bring him back.  Luckily, I was good

friends with Mike Martin Jr. and I never dreamed he would be that good after sitting out a

year, but Martin said he was probably going to go in the  first round pick. But there was only

3 weeks left to go in recruiting. So he was worried to death he doesnt have 3 qbs on the team.

So they went back to re=evaluate film, looked at him physically and he was a really good

player. Very Christian Ponder like as people would say. Deceivingly athletic. Runs no better

than 4.6 and no worse than 4.7. good balance, good body control.  a left handed guy who is an

excellent baseball player.  They had an "in" with him because of "ole Jim Gladden", who was one

of the best recruiters around here, and he helped us with this one I promise you.  Jim

Gladden's best friend in the world was Will's grand-daddy.  Now the only negative about taking

Will was that I am going to see Jim 7 days a week, 365 days a year, and I am going to have to

give a report to him every day. and for yall that dont know, Jim is up there 5 days a week, 2

hours a day telling us what we screwed up, what we've done, and what we are about to need to

do. He goes to Mickey, he goes to me, and he even stops by Coach Bowden on the way out, and

sometimes his secretary as he is going out the door.   Joking.
Will is outstanding, his daddy is the head football coach out there, and he use to work near me

in Louisanna, and I knew him. and he has a wonderful family. He understands football. He has

great hands, he has a very quick release. Very accurate. good body control.  has a pocket

pressence and he can run. jand in todays world, you really cant sign someone who cant move.  We

got a heck of a qb.  Just like ponder, lot of people didnt know him but he has turned out

pretty well.  He is a heck of player and his best ball is the next 2 years coming ahead of him

.  Will is very similar to that type of guy.

Fisher preaching. goes on about how you missed some recruits, but we dont always get everything

we want, but these guys are all great athletes, yet they are all great characters, they all

will qualify academically, only 1 or 2 guys iwll push it down? , but the whole group of guys is

very good.  Good group of OL, and it always starts up front, but there are 2 things that always

reveal themselves, and you can never hide, 1. toughness and 2. intelligence. So that group is a

great group in my opinion, (Fisher being humblely great now,  got to love it.)

Chris Thompson

an exciting guy, just because he is 5.8 , ie Warrick Dunn, extremely strong for his size.

EXTREMELY BIG HANDS, Ggreat hands out of the backfield, can make you miss. used as a punt

returner. can play in space, and can flank out and lock you up , and can run routes like a

lineback and can ...  high quality guy, grew up in the church, great mom and daddy, and on his

visit the last night, he stayed in the room with his mom and dad and hung out, i mean he never

does anything.

******************

Lonnie Pryor.

from Okechobee, outstanding, punt return, kick return guy, great speed, good hands, and I think

he will be a great special teams players. He could play defense.  If he was at Pahokee or Belle

Glade where they get more media exposure, he would be number 1 or number 2 in all the lists out

there.  Versatile, strong, and intelligent. over 2000 yards this year.  Great attitude, great

personality, very charismatic person, I think he is just and outstand young player. He is going

to be a "big ole joker" now, he is probably going to end up 215 (he is 195 now) before its

over.  He has the ability to make you miss, and finish the run.  We are excited about both of

these guys.

Rodney Smith

Scarey untapped potential. 6.6 202 pounds, vertical of 38-40 inches.  played in wing t offense

that didnt throw the ball. averaged over 20 yards a catch. had 34 catches  10 Tds, one every 3

times he scored a touchdown. and what I like about big guys, and sometimes big guys are what I

call "oozers" they cant get off the ball and they dont have body quickness, he can sink his

weight, get in and out, has very good change of direction\, jusdges the ball very well and can

use his size.  of course he has great jumping ability. of course that is the easy part of it.

He is a 6.6 guy that has qualities of a guys that is 5.10 or 5.11 with his quickness and then

he has great top speed as he has been clocked at 4.4.  He has super super potential.  That big

size will make a difference.  He also plays safety and he will run that alley now, all our

skill guys have played defense. They always say if they are not tough put them on offense, but

that does fly oaround here you are going to be physical on offense around here.

Willie Downs.

He is a receiver, but in the Army AAgame, he got there late because his plane was delayed , so

they put him on defense and the defense coach wouldn't let him go.  He was covering the guy who

was the 100 and 200 meter champ in california, of course he is at USC, so he has 8 stars by his

name. He had 8 tackles, an interception, and never played defense before. He kicks off and puts

it in the endzone, he is the qb, he is the punter. and he is the punter because he was the long

snapper and one day in practice, the punter didnt come and so they asked him to do it and he

started punting over 40 yards, and they said, now you are the punter. and he is also the state

holder in the triple jump and last year is the firwst time he did that. Phenomenal, phenomenal

football player and I say great receiver, great special teams player. he has a lot of

potential.  he is as well a rounder football player than anyone in the state of florida. Great

guy.

********************

Willie Haulstead.  no longer 6.2, but 6.3 now, about 210 pounds. his shoulders, this guy is

going to be 225-230 pounds as a Wideout. What he does is make you miss, he has wiggle, he can

sink his weight, change directions and his ball skills are phenomenal.  he played safety on

defense, he had 3 interceptions, 9 tackles. He will light you up, he is a big big physical guy.
He is not an "ooze" guy, you can't get him down. I love  that group of receivers now.  I think

that is exceptional exceptional group. WE get all those qbs from texas you got to work and get

good receivers for those guys. laughter.

Brian STork.  Big hands and big feet are a great indication of how a kids going to grow, his

body potential and his bone structure.  he has been through a lot, but when he shakes your hand

he rattles you, you had better be ready to shake his hand or he is going to break it.  he is

very strong. very competitive. I think when they move him down he will make an excellent

center.  I have a ton of respect for him taking care of himself like he is doing. He will bury

you now. he has good ball skills, and can catch the ball well.

Henry Orelus, at Belle Glade, 6.3, 292, 5.31, he was very quick, very athlete for a center. big

guy, can bend, tall, great great upside, he has a very big frame. He is going to be extremely

big. If he has to, he can be a guard, with his body frame he can do a lot of things. He can

move up and down the line.  Played in an outstanding programe. Played in a lot of big games,

and all the Belle Glade people say the Pahoekee Belle glade game is bigger than the FSU vs UF

game. More pressure.
*******************//********************

John  Prior  6.6 283 pounds, alright a huge guy. he is 6.6 283 and thin.  if that is possible.

he can run, he can control his body. a good sense of balance, he can get on you now. In Ohio,

they play a very physical brand of football, and he just engulfs you, and covers you up, and

walks you off.  Great young man, he came up hard, and everything he gets he earns, and doesnt

say 2 words, but yes sir and no sir, and no 2 ways about it .  he has an attitude, he dont mind

burying you. a good player and size does matter, that is for sure

*************************

Aubrey Philips, this is one we got in on late, and one of the steals that we got in late. 6.4

325, 5.1.
If you get one or 2 of those guys at the end of recruiting its a blessing.  Its hard to do . He

can lift, he can bend, he wasnt in a big time weight program but he is in one now.

***********************

Will Secord

He is not 204, but 220 now, watch his hands, very accurate. short compact motion .  throws it

backwards, he is going to have to listent o everything i say backwards, those lefties are

different. He has great anticipation.  He is a coaches son, so... good arm, not a cannon, but a

very good arm.  runs well. knows how to get air on the ball.  a coaches son will understand.

others you can coach till you are blue in the face and they wont.

Oddell

Jacobbi.  he was a solid committment for a whole year.  he wants to be at Florida state.

Dawsey says there is a DT over at Tampa you better go see, as someone else is after him.  He runs fast.  He  is now 271, that Jodi wants to steal from me.  Demonti committed back in the summer, in July, he never wavered, he didnt take a visit, he wanted to be at Florida state.  Kids like that we need a bunch of them, thats what we built this program on, not a maybe here, or a maybe there. people like myself, dawsey and carter.  Thiss is a great thing here to see all the seminole nation here.

Chuck Amato

Ireally believe that the recruiting class we had this year and last year is part of the taking advantage of our past history of being on TV when they were 7 or 8.  We only took one this year, because we had 6 already.  Things get heated up between coaches. And Urban Meyer, after living a full life, finally died and went to heaven, believe it or not, and as God was showing him around, they came upon this small house, and this was special because not everyone gets a house, and so sees this small house  with a fadded flag in the window. But as he is walking up to his house he sees this garnet and gold sidewalk and this 50 foot house with these huge seminole logos in every window and this huge flagpole with this huge seminole flag on it, and he looks at it and says and I dont want to be ungrateful, but why is it that Bobby Bowden who isn't even dead yet gets a bigger and better house than me, and God laughs at him and says, that is not Bobby Bowden's house, that is mine. **laugher

Well let me tell you a little about CJ Mizell.  he is another one that is kinda misplanted in Douglas Georgia.  I went over there with Coach Bowden during the NFL playoffs, and Bowden told him that I will only go over there if you promise me that I will not miss the kickoff of the first playoff game, and I said, yea we can do that.  thats not a problem.  As a sophmore, he was unbelievable. He is 6.3" about 220, but down to 215 because he is wrestling right now. and he can fly. I mean he can fly.  I mean he can get from point A to point B in a heartbeat.  When he sees the target. he  is like a skud mistle.  He is there. Bamb. I sks our compliance director and we couldnt go out and they couldn't go out, so they called fedex, but someone took over the documents and we are excited .  You are going to be really proud about Cj Mizell.

Jodi Allen

Brandon Jenkins contacted us when he was in the 4th grade.  There was no doubt in his mind where he wanted to go. Good thing never come easy in recruiting, well its not always true, cause we are sure glad to have him. There was a last minute problem, because we had a 9:30 signing class for him but there was not any problem because he was already enrolled.

Dan Hicks.

He was not in the picture, I didn't know anything about him.  ... came up to me and said Coach we got this guy in Mississippi that you should look at and I said we are about full this year, and so I asked him if he was a junior and he said no, he is a senior, and he is Dan Footman's son.   yall know who he is , he has the trophy down there for the world's strongest man.  But he was hurt most of his senior year,ie.l6.5 245,  and ...  So we worked the numbers and I called them this morning and asked him if he signed with Arkansas state and he said no, and I said, you call them this morning and tell them thank you for your interest but I am going to Florida state, and I will fax you the papers by FEdex and you will have them tomorrow and we will get them all worked out. and he said yes sir.  Big Dan had worked it all out.  When Dan Footman told him wehre he was going, he said yes sir, and that was the end of the recruiting deal. and we are glad to get him.  He is raw, but he is not hte player DF was when here. He is exactly like DF as a high school senior.

Dustin Hopkins.

last year didnt sign, but it was dangerous deal.  Garren Justice, big Oats,  brought me some film and he kicked it out of endzone, and I thougth it was the wind, but he turned aobut and kicked it the other way.  So we got a jump on him and called him up and he has a nice family.  and he committed to us and it was smooth sailing, and coach Colley did a really good job with their family.  Its a really good family. There was a little bit of a scare in recruiting, uh, USC made a pretty big push on him, and uh, they live a pretty affluent neighborhood, and they already got a big house and a new car, so, (and he is waving his hands back and forth, like no no no), so, so\, so we were able to hold USC off on that one. Huge laughter.. he has got some big shoes to fill, but give him some time.

Then he goes off on how he recruited a 5 star bride, Emily Allen, and I signed her july 26th last summer. Im real proud of her.

MICKEY ANDREWS.

waddles up like a duck.  I just have to check on one thing, here, and Brian is our compliance check.  I am not sure Jody followed the rules in his recruitment.  Now there is a time period when you can work on your recruitment and Jodi has been working on that one for a while.  I guarantee he promised her some things and we will just have to see how that develops. laughter

Very solid group of defensive players.  We lost 11, signed 10.  Lost 1 DT and got 2, lost 3 de and got 2, lost 2 lb and got 1, and lost 5 dbs and got 5.

We think there is a lot of quality there. they have the work ethics that lends to champions and we think they are all winners.   Maybe there are some guys in here like warrick dunn who can help us win the state championship, and we got to do that first and then we can win nc.  we reminded them today that the significance of today is that the are seminoles, but the2nd steop is to get admitted and finish academics. We arent thru, we got to get them in school now.

Justin Bright, from SC. not a real big guy, a size chart wont recruit, speed recuirement and you might not recruit him but he is a very good football player, an outstanding tackler, great instincts and he makes plays.  He had alittle waver there, the only one, he made a little trip to stanford, but that impressed him, but his mommie and daddy got out the map and showed him jsut how far that was. He comes from Burnes high school.  We will continue to recruit from there, we had 3 of them here as juniors the last weekend.

Gerald Demps,
over at lownes, early commitment just like ;Justin, randy mcpherson, his coach, won a couple state championships over there, and ;he won a couple since being at lowdenses. he is extremely high on this young man as we are. he played him out of position, at lb, and we like to see that, and he passed the test here, he played rb, wr, and a lot of positon, and he is a hard-nosed football player

Juhaun Harley from was voted the 10th best safety in the country, ran track,k 10.5 100 meter.  took to camp and he ran, and put him against some of our wideouts and he played bump and run, and he looked like Derek Gibson out there, and DG was one of the best bump and run guys we ever had.  we havent been able to do much of that since derek left.  but this guy can do it.  He played qb, rb , and you like to see that in a football player.

Greg Reid, cornerback.  can come in and help us next year. not big, by taper meaure or scales, but like warrick, he is not that big, but then the balls not that heavy, laughter, and he was able to carry it for 10000 yards, in the Nfl now.  This is a guy that is very explosive.  he can score at any time.  when we started recruiting him we looked at mostly offensive tape. he committed to florida early, and that says a lot for Lowdnes high school that they could have a guy go down, and the light hit him, and he can see the mistake that he made. mnore laughter, and i tell you jimbo and dexter and did real good and were on him and it got a little hairy yesterday but we will get to see a lot of his ball, and I think you will enjoy watching him.

Xavier Rhodes, excelled and had more opportunity on offense.  its

funny jimbo signed guys good on defense, and we signed guys

excelled on offense, if it gets bad, Jimbo,  we can work about

swap, we should get 2 for 1 anyways. (His straight face gets

another laugh)

We had him in camp this summer and we were very impressed, the

movement part, the hips, the feet, the way he broke on the

football you could tell, but you cant tell in camp if he likes to

hit with pads lies to run into people, but the tape wil lshow he

does.

We got 5 guys that we are very excited about, we feel good, who

we feel can contribute, and we need them to, because we lost 5

guys last  year.

films.

Jenkins, 6.4, 235,4.70  thought he needed another year, because

he needs to get stronger, a little bit bigger, but I tell you he

has some athletic moves, and we ask de to come off the end , he

has to come off the football, and cover the corner, and this guy

can do that. he had around 19 sacks this year,

jacobbi,  not tall but explosive and powerful we seen in a long

time, he played offense as well, he was probably their best

blocker, nobody could block him so they just had him pull off so

they of the all star game so they could work on offense. All he

was doing was texting and calloing and he had a big thing to do

with Greg Reid being recruited.

DeMonte McCallister, 6.3, 271, 4.90, from tampa, very excited on

him since the first time we saw tape on him, he makes tackles and

we will wear him out on the lowboy, its not fun at 100 degrees

pushing that lowboy around.

Dan Hicks, 6.4, 250, 4.70, oxford mississippi.kid that quite

frankly has to learn to be more conssistent. but he has some

tools, and happy to have him, but sometimes .. he has to learn

how to play and not change gears. we got a thing that discribes

what a loaf is, and one of them is that you change gears. (Mickey

seems unhappy but they all will seemingly work on him out of

respect for Dan Footman.)

CJ Mizell, 6.3 208, 4.51, missed a year, but they way he played

this year shows he has great potential, with speed and size, He

came in last weekend, unofficial, and he came in first time since

Christmas and he got another inch taller since then.  He has

quite a carreer ahead of him.Basically 2 or 3 years of football

and you knonw he has a lot of room for growth.  (Is he projecting

him to leave as a sophmore or junior?)

Dustin Hopkins. 6.2 174 4.58, yall remember watching janakowski

warming up with the kickoffs going thru the fg from the 50, but

remember high schoola nd college has a 5 yrd difference.

Xavier Rhodes, has huge hands. potential to be a really really

good football player. the kinda guy who can play on either side

of the ball and i think he has expressed some desire to play some

offense. But we were very impressed with him in junior camp.

Compares him to a guy that chuck amato brought in to walk on,

Andre Wadsworth. couldnt offer him a schoolarship, but ended up

the highest ranked nfl player we gopt drafted.

Greg Reid.  5.9 175, 4.48  5.9 is not tall, no, its not, but when

you got moves like that, you get bigger and you get taller, tony

wasnt a giant himself, but he held his own.

Justin Bright,
6.1, 184, 4.51, byrnes hs,transfered when he was a

10th grader, to get in there at Byrnes, their facilities are like

a junior college. He is thin and he needs to get strong,,er

Gerald Demps, 5.11, 190, 4.55, polayed both sides of fb.  not

many people do that in high classification teams like it is over

there in valdosta.   tough kid.

Jajuan harley, 6.2, 205, 4.37, has grown recently, outstanding

speed. can play safety or corner. doesnt matter to him.  2/3 of

plays this year were against one back set, meaning safety

involved in coverage, and that is where his strength is right

now. he said he might like to be a corner..  of the 3 safeties, 3

of them did not even make one visit.  That ;shows you where

their heart is.
