http://www.sbnation.comhttp://www.sbnation.com/users/Mr.%20Tonight%20TB Posts made by Mr. Tonight TB on SB Nation http://www.draysbay.com/2008/6/20/555473/visiting-teams-fans-how-mu Mr. Tonight TB Fri, 20 Jun 2008 13:27:33 -0000 <p>I want to be a good fan.&nbsp; I want to be polite.&nbsp;&nbsp; I usually am.&nbsp; But how else are we going to make the fans of out of state teams (Boston, NY, Chicago, etc) convert to Rays fans?&nbsp; 99% of the Cubs fans in the trop last night live in the tampa bay area, but they still come to the game wearing cubs gear.&nbsp; The only 2 things that will ever make them switch over is for our team to continue embarrasing them on the field and for us to embarrass them in the stands.&nbsp; I hate to say it, but i love the Rays fans that are dicks to the visitings fans.&nbsp; Talk that S, get in their face, shake that broom at them, we gotta do whatever it takes to turn this tide.&nbsp; Everyone in this town is from somewhere else, but they refuse to root for the home team.&nbsp; So i dont see any other way to go about it.&nbsp; If we keep winning and they keep getting harrassed at the games, maybe finally they will don a rays jersey for good.&nbsp;</p> <p>Do it for your kids...i would hate to have grown up in NY but been a huge Chicago fan b/c my dad was from there.&nbsp; Kids are fans of their dads team.&nbsp;&nbsp;as a kid growing up its great to be a fan of the hometown team and see 25 games over the summer.&nbsp; This is how you build a lasting fan base, you have kids who grow up and then are die-hard life long fans.</p> <p>I dont like being the dick fan out there, but we gotta do something.&nbsp; we gotta make them hate coming here with an opposing jersey on.&nbsp; Our team has gotta keep making them look bad on the field.&nbsp; I think its a problem the team and the fanbase need to attack.&nbsp; am i wrong?&nbsp; Go Rays!</p>
