Down here in the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia) region, there is a rumor that former Maryland QB Danny O'Brien will transfer to Penn State. Has anyone heard anything about this? I hope he doesn't. While Maryland's problems were not ALL of his fault, he was still a major problem to their collapse this past season. Of course, this could just be a result of a poor journalist making a headline matching last names. Who knows? I don't, thats whY I am asking? Is that 75 words yet?

It was interesting and surprising to read that while the game at Fedex is a Penn Staet Road game, that Dan Snyder and the Redskins would be making a donation up to 150,000 to THON based off of student ticket sales purchased for the game beginning today.  Say what you will about THON, it is a great cause and its cool to see a team outside of Pennsylvania, show their support.

ESPN.com has a story noting how to solve the scheduling problem in college football, by implementing the conference challenges as seen in basketball. The only thing I don't agree with are his match ups and justifications, but it does pose an interesting idea. Should college football implement the conference challenge idea? Which conference would you want to see the Big 10 take on first?

I believe THON deserves some recognition this weekend as it is currently going on at the BJC. Day to Day on this blog, we talk about all the great sports stories and discussion that Penn State has to offer. THON deserves to be one of those stories. As a 2005 alum, I had the honor of dancing in 2003 for PSU York, Moraling in 04 and 05, and getting the Penn State Lion Scouts officially involved in this great event.

For those of you have have been involved with THON before, know what a huge impact 3000+ college students have on the Four Diamonds Families, and the PSU community. It is truly amazing to have been a part of this great tradition, and it is truly amazing to as an alumni to see PSU students continue to grow in this great tradition. Joe Paterno said it best at 2003 THON when he said " When they say WE ARE PENN STATE, THEY MEAN YOU!".
