We still control our own destiny. A team trying to master every facet of football has its struggles. We lost to an AFC team, we can still win the division. We must win out.

Now is the time to peak, to put all the pieces together and make a run. No excuses anymore, and oh I officially declare that Nick Folk is no longer my boy. I still believe this team has what it takes, everyone from top to bottom must play at their best, including the coaches. It's time....bring on the Saints

It's no secret that we're a second half team especially with the D lately not being too stout at the end of the first half. I dont understand why we ever choose to recieve at the beginning of the game?

Obviously Madden isn't anywhere near the same haha but I always kick first. Romo has a knack for squeezing in a fg drive at the end of halfs and with that momentum coupled with getting the ball back at the 3rd is important for a second half team. Any thoughts?

Romo's Swag

This isn't written by me, just something I found on the net and thought was an interesting read.

Even I, a Romoholic, had a hard time defending the beleaguered quarterback after another stink-fest performance against Denver that was the sole reason the Cowboys lost. The numbers speak for themselves: 25-42, 255 yards, 0 TD’s, 1 INT(in the Denver red zone), 1 fumble lost and 5 sacks for a 67.1 passer rating. Unless your Peyton Manning, your QB rating should never be nearly identical to the total value of your contract. Yikes.

But with one minute left, down a touchdown and facing a fourth-and-three from his own twenty, Vintage Romo woke up. You know the guy. Vintage Romo keeps plays alive better than any quarterback in the league except for maybe Ben Roethlisberger. Well, Vintage looked to his right, came back to his left, avoided Bronco end Elvis Dumervil (who made Flozell Adams his bitch all day, with two sacks on Romo), ran as far forward as he could without crossing the line of scrimmage, and flung the ball back across his body to a sprinting Sam Hurd, who had come all the way back across the field to get open. Hurd caught the ball in stride and ran to the Bronco 9.

Of course, we all know how it ended — Romo threw two questionable passes to Hurd (the 4th receiver) with Hall of Famer Champ Bailey draped all over him, and the Cowboys lost yet another game they probably should have won.

If you watched the game, you saw Romo look completely awkward and uncomfortable in the second half. I have been following this guy passionately for his entire career, and I can promise you this: that was not Tony Romo. That was a mix of Chad Hutchinson and Brooks Bollinger. Every time Romo stepped back to throw, you wished he wouldn’t. You prayed for a completion. Heck, you prayed for an INcompletion. That’s bad. Really, really bad.

My theory: Cowboy nation has gotten what they asked for, and it turns out it’s not as enjoyable as you thought it might be. After throwing for over 20 interceptions last year and losing the game against the Giants this year with his ridiculous turnovers, we clammered for a calmer Romo, a game-managing Romo that would just hand it off or dump it to Witten. I myself said that’s what should happen. Do I regret what I said? No, not at all. The Cowboys simply don’t have the wide receiving options like they used to.

But they can still use Vintage Romo, and not this robotic, too-scared-to-make-a-mistake Romo. When Romo improvises and takes his chances, a la his idol, Brett Favre, he’s in the top-five of quarterbacks in the league. When he thinks too much, he sucks. That’s the bottom line.

We have to take the good with the bad with Romo. Look at his best season, the 2007 13-3 year: 36 TD’s and 19 INT’s. When the Cowboys were 12-1 and Romo had thrown 14 INT’s up to that point, were you pissed? Of course not, because he had thrown for 35 touchdowns! 35!!!! With two games to go!!! And you’re telling me you like this year’s Romo better, the one who has thrown only four touchdowns through four games because he’s "thinking more"? For every bone-headed interception he throws (the Giants game), he makes one play that makes him worth all $67 million of his contract (the Hurd play).

The Cowboys are 2-2, and unless Romo stops thinking too much, the ‘Boys are gonna miss the playoffs. Again.

Other notes from the game and around the league:

—I loathe Brian Dawkins. Loathe him.

—Ken Hamlin is slowly falling out of favor with me. He doesn’t tackle guys anymore, he just runs into them. He reminds me of a bird that accidentally flies into a window and falls over, dead. Splat!

—Keith Brooking = new current favorite Cowboy.

—Did you see Marion Barber almost take off his helmet when he scored that first quarter TD? He’s unquestionably the emotional leader of this team.

—Kyle Orton is 4-0, Tony Romo has only thrown 4 touchdowns, Tom Brady is not the best QB in the AFC (he’s way behind Peyton and Joe Flacco), Matt Schaub is still healthy, David Garrard is still alive, and JaMarcus Russell will make the Pro Bowl. One of those statements is not true.

—My three best moves of my fantasy football weekend, of which I went 3-1 in my four leagues: picking up Brett Favre (3 TD’s), keeping New York’s Steve Smith in the lineup (2 TD’s, 100+ yards), and benching the Jets defense for the Saints defense (37 points for the Saints D. 37!!)

—My three worst moves of my fantasy football weekend: not picking up Mendenall, who has sat for weeks in one of my leagues, playing Drew Brees in one league (where has he gone?), and playing Detroit’s D (they gave up 48 points against the Bears. The lesson, as always, Detroit should never have a waiver-wire pickup player on your team.)

Next week: Cowboys try to bounce back against former coordinator Todd Haley and the Chiefs.

I live in D.C. now so even though its in the Redskins area I still get almost all Cowboys games on tv. Next year I'll be going to college in Ithaca and I'm guessing that Cowboys games aren't broadcasted very much. From what I hear, there are mostly Giants and Patriots fans there.

I was wondering if anyone knows a good site or online service which allows you to watch live football games in relatively high quality, and I already know about justin.tv and ustream but the quality on those are usually awful and it's never a guarantee that the game will be up there.

Bradie James Talks

Cowboys linebacker Bradie James did a long interview on The Ticket (KTCK - 1310 AM) this morning, speaking openly about a wide variety of Cowboys-related controversies. Here's the best of Bradie . . .

Do you forget your individual success because of the team's failings?

James: "Yeah, that's what happens. There's been a lot said and some things that've been reported. With us, as players, we don't know what's going on just like a lot of the media doesn't know what's going on. Because, I guess sources say too much stuff was getting leaked out. That's one thing that has really caught me off guard - I know when I was in junior high, high school, college, when I wrote a paper, I couldn't go around saying 'sources say.' If I didn't put down my source, I got a flat zero. Now we have guys out there like Calvin Watkins (Dallas Morning News) and Ed Werder (ESPN) - they're out there reporting things, and saying things like 'sources say this, sources say that.' When you don't name your source, it's basically you can't take it, cause it's like some things are made up . . . I've read some things since the season - if I didn't know any better I would have thought we needed the National Guard to come in and break up some stuff in our locker room . . . A lot of that stuff is just make believe, it's tabloid. It serves as a divisive note in anywhere."

What happened to this team?

James: "With talent, and with these names come certain egos. Now one thing that I've learned . . . talent doesn't win championships. You've got to have ballplayers plus a couple of egos. You can't have everybody thinking they're the greatest player and not getting the job done because you've got to deal with different egos. The whole beauty about winning a championships and the whole beauty about winning teams is that they set those things aside and come together. Now, we came together here off and on during the season, and therefore our performance reflected that. There was times that we could've won games, but whenever you don't win, when guys try to accept their roles and you don't win, then all hell breaks lose, and that's basically it . . . We had guys that accepted their roles, but when you start losing, then as far as accepting roles and stuff like that, it goes out the window."

Explain the different personalities of the offense and defense? The offensive players didn't seem to cheer on each other as much as the defense did.

James: "Defensively we knew what we had to do, and we went out there and tried to execute. Offensively, I think they tried to execute, but it was a lot of - first off, you go get a guy during the middle of the season. I'm talking about Roy E. (Williams). You get him in the middle of the season, so you already have guys that feel like they can play and they can produce. So you expect these guys to sit back and say 'Oh, okay, well we're just going to accept him and go from there. We're going to jel, we're going to automatically be a tight-knit group.' Well everybody is really trying to perform, and those guys feel like it was no need for certain people to come in. In the back of their minds, they've got to bite the bullet. But now he comes in, he didn't go through a training camp or a mini-camp, and half of us don't know him, we just played with him . . . No matter what production he has or anything, that's tough on the other players and himself to come in and just be an impact player, because he wasn't in the scheme all through mini-camp, training camp and all of that. So offensively that kind of throws some things off, and then your quarterback gets hurt."

Are there too many people in your locker room talking to too many (reporters)?

James: "The thing is, in order for us to know who the too many people are, you've got to list them. This is not the IRS or the Secret Service. It's not the FBI, where you've got sources and you've got to keep your sources. No, this is football . . . It stirs up things for people around, and then for us, if it gets back to us, we might look at each other and say 'Hmm, who said that. Ah, we're not going to worry about it.' But then if it continues to get reported then you have to entertain it. I call it tabloid, because if you can't name your sources then why report it?"

Would you like to see more discipline enforced by the coaching staff and the owner?

James: "We all are men. A lot of things go on. It's not just in our locker room, not just at our facility, it's at everybody's facility. Some people might be late. Some people will do this, and will do that. That's just the way it goes. Now in our case we had the reality show, we had 'Hard Knocks,' and then (Anthony Spencer) came in and he didn't go to a (treatment) and he got fined. So people thought that's probably how Wade does it all the time. I don't know how Wade does it because I was never late. When somebody was late they had to get up and say 'I apologize,' (and) whatever the reason was they were late. A couple guys would talk to them and say don't do that, but things happen. You can't expect somebody to not be late the whole year when we drive, and people live in different places . . . We can only do so much. If stuff is not enforced, it doesn't matter where you are. If I get in a guy's face and say this, and then he still turns back around and do it, and I'm not supported by the guys higher-up, then what can I do? I can't take anybody's money. I can't fire them. And then if you try to beat somebody up, sources will say it's going to come out. Our hands are tied."

If the culture of the club is going to change, does it have to start at the top with Jerry Jones?

James: "As far as Jerry, I don't know. I can't say that because I'm not around him in that light. Jerry is a leader. So I have to do with whatever he puts out there, whatever team he brings about, and then go from there . . . Really to be honest with you, and be real about the situation, the defensive coordinator wasn't the problem. What did we really solve by letting (Brian Stewart) go? The situation still is the same, so I think it's other moves that need to be made, but it's not about me. I'm a player, so I can't make those decisions. I've just got to deal with whatever we have, whatever we put out there."

Source

So...Who Do We Root For In The Playoffs?

As dissappointed as I am in the loss, i kinda of felt it coming and am somewhat at peace with it. I'm almost done listening to all the taunting from redskins and ravens fans i live near and am now ready to just move on. I will always love the Cowboys and I will always love the game of football.

Since I love football so much i'm not just gonna stop watching so i'm wondering who everyone thinks will make the superbowl and win it.

I kind of like the Chargers, or the Panthers for all i care. I mean even if the Giants win it again I doubt i'd care that much. I wouldn't mind if the Titans win it either, anyone but the Eagles i guess.

I always like watching these, they're like a smaller scaled version of 'America's Game' and at first throughout the season we seemed to come up on the short end of the stick with the game of the week's covering the 'boys was the skins and cards loss

but, then they covered skins game II which we won

last week they did the pitt game, another disappointing loss and it hurts even more to watch it like that but now the week after they have the giants defeat to the cowboys last sunday night in the most viewed sunday night football game ever

So Coleman has been added to the 53-man team and Quincy Butlet has been waived.

This could be a precautionary measure or wade and co. accepting that barber won't be as ready as we thought he'd be

i honestly think barber will play on sunday..i mean look at clinton portis he's playing through all sorts of sh**

but i have confidence in choice..and if barber does play than choice in 2nd/3rd quarter would work great with barber closing out

or tony will light up their secondary and go over 300 yards (lol..probably not but we can all hope)

whatever it is i just hope we win...i've never been this excited for a cowboys game since week 1

GO COWBOYS
