Random thing I came across, 2 PM to 4:30 today they are showing the entire game. It's very interesting to get this look back, seeing a lot of names I haven't heard in a long time, and getting to hear Chip and Stoney call a game again.

It's also really odd to see Wrigley so empty. So many empty seats during what turned out to be such a historic day.

Anyway, it's a fun little look back if you happen to have nothing better to do.

I'm not a college football expert by any means, and most of what I know about players come from scouting websites. (I refuse to watch D1-A as long as the BCS exists) But I'm a big "Fix your biggest flaw" type of guy, and took that along with everything else to make my mock.

And I need eight more words to finish.

Great, just what we needed, a tougher division rival. Holt will be a big upgrade from the nothingness that they had at WR before.

Granted, the Jaguars are still a flawed team, but I'm not looking forward to seeing Holt twice a year.

Former St. Louis Rams wide receiver Torry Holt agreed to a three-year deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday that could be worth as much as $20 million, according to a source. (From ESPN)

Obscure free agent DT the Colts could target

Looking through the free agent list, I saw a name that intrigued me as someone the Colts could consider getting.

His name is Ellis Wyms, he's a 29 year old veteran at 6-3. 290 pounds. He's a veteran of the Cover 2, as he was with Tampa from 2001 to 2006. He was in Seattle in 2007 and the Vikings last year.

He's probably just as good as our current craptastic NT's, I don't think it'd be too hard for him to learn the system, and I'm sure he'd sign at the veteran minimum.

While we still NEED to draft DT, this is a guy who could bring some well needed depth to the team.

Thoughts?

Saw it on ESPN's ticker, and a notice is on NFL.com. No official link is up yet. When it is, I'll update it here.

I'm really curious to see what the Bears had to give up to get him. I think don't think Kyle Orton is all that bad, so if they gave up a ton to get Jay, then I'm not sold on it.

Although it's possible they did trade Orton, I don't know.

Marvin 3rd best WR all time (Pro-Football-Reference.com)

PFR is the best stat site out there, and in their blog they came up with a formula to rate wide receivers all time.

http://www.pro-football-reference.com/blog/?p=1486#comments

On this list, Marvin was ranked 3rd of all time. Jerry Rice is obviously first, while Don Hutson got some love at 2nd.

The rest of the top 10: T.O, Moss, Alworth, Largent, Irvin, Berry, and Jimmy Smith.

Reggie Wayne is 79th.

I found this article pretty interesting, I was wondering what the take of some of the people here is on it. (Especially someone like Shake, who loves these obscure stats)

Remaining Playoff Spots, How people can get in

Obviously: AFC West, winner of Denver/San Diego gets in.

AFC East Title: If the Dolphins win over the Jets, they win the division regardless. If the Jets win over the Dolphins, and the Patriots win over Buffalo, then the Patriots win the division. A Jet win and a Patriot loss gives the Jets the division.

#6 Seed: If the Ravens win, they get it regardless. IF they lose, and Miami and New England win, then the Patriots get the 6. If they lose and the Jets and New England win, then the Jets get the 6. If the Patriots lose, then the Ravens get the 6 seed regardless of the Jets/Dolphins game.

NFC North: If the Vikings lose to the Giants, and the Bears win out, the Bears get in. This is the only way the Bears win the division I believe.

Wild Card: Falcons are in regardless, and hold the 5 seed unless they lose and Dallas wins. All Dallas has to do is beat the Eagles, and they are in. If the Eagles win, and the Buccaneers beat the Raiders, then Tampa gets the 6 seed. If the Eagles win and the Buccaneers LOSE to the Raiders, then the Eagles get the 6 seed.

Awesome. This is why the NFL is far and away better than college football. And all of those teams can win the championship, it's not biased voters and a computer determining the winner.
