Bulls Interested in Marcus Camby?

While most trade speculation revolves around the Bulls potential aquisition of Amare Stoudemire from the Pheonix Suns, there is some recent speculation of the Bulls aquiring Marcus Camby from the Los Angeles Clippers.

Over at the Sporting News, Sean Deveney is reporting:

One possibility for Camby that's been overlooked: the Bulls. A deal for Drew Gooden's expiring deal and a young player like Thabo Sefolosha would have to spark the Clippers' interest. "They're not sold on making a hard push for Stoudemire," one East general manager said of the Bulls. "I think they're really divided on that. But they are definitely looking for a big man, which they've been doing for, what, five years now? They have some great opportunities.

This trade is viable financially for both teams. The ESPN trade machine prdicts that adding Camby would add 7 wins to the current Bulls team.

Personaly, I think that this is a much more sensible trade for the Bulls than going after Amare. Camby's contract is up in two years and would leave the Bulls the financial flexibility to go after the much heralded 2010 free agent class.

I know this is general football and not Bears related, but a Raiders fan getting tossed for failing to support the Bucs deserves some attention.

I know the controversy revolving around the quasi-public nature of sports stadiums and its effects on free speech, but this is ridiculous.

Chad Ford mentioned the Bulls might be interested in Lamar Odom in an article published earlier today at espn.com. This article quotes the relevant passage and offers up some trade ideas; I am partial to #6 myself.

Sign and trade ideas involving Gordon are running wild, so I thought I would add my thoughts.

Bulls:

Ben Gordon to Dallas

Andre Nocioni to Dallas

Drew Gooden to Dallas

Dallas:

Josh Howard to Lakers

Eddie Jones to Lakers

Jason Terry to Chicago

Lakers:

Lamar Odom to Chicago

Over at Mavs Moneyball there was some discussion of a similar trade earlier this year (Howard + Terry for Nocioni + Gordon) . With the public relations trouble that Josh Howard is causing the Mavs might be more inclined to moving him. They replace Terry with a younger similar player, Nocioni serves as a serviceable replacement for Howard, plus Gooden adds some toughness to the Mavs front line.

The Bulls basically replace Gordon’s skills and Nocioni’s contract with Terry. Odom gives the Bulls a post option at the 4, a person who can fill Noce’s minutes at 3, and should aid the D’Antoni style attack with his passing.

With Bynum returning from injury, Gasol returns to the 4, and Odom would slide to the 3 where he is less effective. Howard is a more effective defensive option for a team loaded with offensive talent, and a better player at the 3. Eddie Jones is just salary filler.

I would even offer the option to switch 1st round draft picks next year to entice Dallas to deal.

The Financials work on the trade machine when I used Hinrich’s contract. While I know BYC rules are complicated with sign and trade players, both Dallas and Chicago have trade exceptions in the $5 million range to make the trade go through.
