Thoughts on things
As I follow the post from fellow bloggers I have a few thoughts
Jermey Parnell, I'm watching you.
More than one camp report and poster on this here blog has hinted at the extraodinary talent Mr Parnell possesses.
Wish I could remember who responded to a post I made and commented that in the camp practices they attended, Parnell was the guy who stood out in drills but would disappear in practice...

As KD Drummond prepares for the hurricane at his home, I have given Arkin a quick look, here are my opinions of his play by plays.

Igor Olshansky play by plays
To the naked eye it seems Olshansky is having a terrible preseason, I have wondered out loud if he has quit this team already.

Phil Costa, Play by plays
I picked up on a couple little things in Costa's game this week and think I know what kind of player we have, and I like it. More in the conclusion.

David Arkin's play by plays
Mr David Arkin's turn, he lined up for the most part against Ty Warren, a quality DT in my opinion.

Costa's Play by Plays
When I started doing these some people liked them and some didn't but they seem to work---
I thought by what the play by plays showed Travis Bright had some potential but was very slow and awkward. I thought Bobby Carpenter was a plus to our coverage units and would be missed in that role, and when I saw Doug Free after three starts I said Free should be starting for Flo.
On to Costa, last year as I looked at the measurables I thought Travis Bright was the fit and to be truthful, it looked like he needed work but he had a few plays were he would just destroy people. Imagine my surprise when the coaching staff raves on about how impressed they are with Costa and cut Bright. Well Mr. Phil Costa, let's see if the team cutting my pet cat last year is worth it.

What just happened, what will happen?
My opinion of the "bigger picture"
You think you know, but ...
It used to amaze me how straight forward Parcells was with us and no one could hear him.

Don't be surprised
I believe in my heart the boys are going to be a better team this year, but I look at our schedule and I see a season filled with concerns.

Random thoughts
I've been wanting to post some thoughts for a while, so here it goes.
Wow what a surprise, Free is ready! I'm not surprised.
http://www.bloggingtheboys.com/2009/8/31/1009129/doug-free-play-by-play-preseason
I know it's only three preseson games but we could not have hoped for more than Doug has done. He has given up 1 pressure and 0 sacks, has pancaked people left and right and when called on to do so and driven guys out of the hole when run behind. He is really good at blocking the speed rush and is a very smart player (pointing out blitzes and recgnizing blitzes). He was called for one penalty that belonged to Proctor. Left tackle is not a problem.
At first I thought Doug should start but Flo has been playing pretty good so I'm happy either way. Flo will have to lose the job or get hurt but Free is ready. He will have the growing pains only experience can stop. I think he's a downgrade to Flo at this point but I think he's really close to being really good.
The only thing that gives me any reserves about Doug is he gets bull rushed. I hear people say it's because of strength but he destroys guys in the run game and drives them ll over the field. Is that not strength too? I think he lacks leverage or junk in the trunk? The bullrush problem is overstated as it only occassionally happens.
Is he ready for the likes of which he will face in the east? Yea, I think he's close.
LT is not a problem.
BTB Hall of fame bloggers
If the BTB had a hall of fame which bloggers, which Fan shots, or which writers would you induct and why?
I personally think a statue of RafaelVela should be at the entrance to this imaginary hall.
There was a time Fighter15 was the biggest homer but then I got to know Terry so he certainly wins that category.
No blogger captivates an audience with more of nothing than Montecito Tex . He just need to make his presence known and the board goes crazy.
I miss the likes of Chandus and DonnyPossner who I would certainly consider hall of fame candidates.
There is Quinccccy, who keeps us all abreast about what is going on in the college ranks, thanks for sharing all your hard work.
5blings certainly can get a captive audience debating. Some of his fan post go into the 600's.
jarhead has a place in my heart too, he has contributed so much over the last few years.
I could go on all day but I would rather hear who or what article you would induct and why?
We've only begun to fight, and we've got a secret weapons
Mike McCarthy says Dallas is the best and most balanced offense they will have played to date. When Skp and JJT were debating the Vikings/Cowboys Skip whom I dislike said to JJT that he would take Witten, Austin, and our three running backs over Peterson and Harvey. He then said Dallas had more depth than that. And that got me to thinking.
"More" Last year half way through the season I could almost call the play that was going to be run. This year I'm surprised every week by a formation or player. The first few weeks it was a power running game, then it was a two tight end set that morphed into a three tight end set, and then there was Austin, and now there is Ogletree. We saw the Razorback and flanker screens this last week for the first time. There seems to be something new every week.
Skip is right, (uggggh) this team can line up with three tight ends and run over you, it can line up four wide and shoot it out with you, if you have a weakness the cowboys can exploit it.
The secret really isn't that secret, all of training camp the word was Bennett and Jones. We were installing offense around these two new weapons. Bennett has been a force in the running game and Felix has seen spot duty but nothing like we thought we would see. The secret is we've yet to see any of the offense they were working on in training camp, there is more to come.
Just an observation
I'm watching the eagles game again and---
the 4th and inches play where McNabb does the QB sneak- I can see McNabb's left arm tucked under him and between the legs of someone on the ground, it is only for a millisecond, but he was down and he still did not reach the tip of the beak on the logo and the yardstick was beyond where he was anyway, he did not have the first down either way.
Spencer got rapped on a play, some guy is hanging off his arm hanging on and the official is standing right there watching and no call,
the officials were over all really bad both ways.
Cowboys fan
hey guys, I'm not here to troll but was curios as to how you guys looked at the Cowboys and how you think the game will go Monday? How and who will your guys try to be exploiting and what scares you if anything?
I must warn you not even Cowboys fans know what to expect, one week our D-backs will shut down all pro receivers and the next week get burnt by rookies. The D will get run over one week and shut down Brandon Jacobs the next. Romo might throw three TD's or three INT's. Our wide receivers might catch 350 yards or 80. Dallas is all over the place!
The constants are, they have been very good on the O-line and the 12 package (two tight ends) can both block and run routs deep. Dallas can run the ball and they are blocking really well right now. Dallas d-line is getting pressure on QB's but are not getting sacks, they beat Leftwich to death and just missed Eli on two or three potential sacks.
Dallas is coming off a very emotional game and it will be hard to get up again, I worry the cowboys may not show up for this one.
Unproven
There is a lot of Cowboy hate going around these days. USA today gives us a C-, Tim Caloshaw says were no better than third in our own division, and Emmitt smith gives a laundry list of why we will go 7-9 and John Claytons revelation that the Cowboys are going to come in last in the division. Why?
I ask why not? We are after all unproven. But there is hope!

I changed the format just a little to include the quarter and time the play started. I did not include special teams, here is what I could see.
