BTB Hall of fame bloggers

If the BTB had a hall of fame which bloggers, which Fan shots, or which writers would you induct and why?

I personally think a statue of RafaelVela should be at the entrance to this imaginary hall.

There was a time Fighter15 was the biggest homer but then I got to know Terry so he certainly wins that category.

No blogger captivates an audience with more of nothing than
Montecito Tex
. He just need to make his presence known and the board goes crazy.

I miss the likes of Chandus and DonnyPossner who I would certainly consider hall of fame candidates.

There is Quinccccy, who keeps us all abreast about what is going on in the college ranks, thanks for sharing all your hard work.

5blings certainly can get a captive audience debating. Some of his fan post go into the 600's.

jarhead has a place in my heart too, he has contributed so much over the last few years.

I could go on all day but I would rather hear who or what article you would induct and why?

Mike McCarthy says Dallas is the best and most balanced offense they will have played to date. When Skp and JJT were debating the Vikings/Cowboys Skip whom I dislike said to JJT that he would take Witten, Austin, and our three running backs over Peterson and Harvey. He then said Dallas had more depth than that. And that got me to thinking.

"More" Last year half way through the season I could almost call the play that was going to be run. This year I'm surprised every week by a formation or player. The first few weeks it was a power running game, then it was a two tight end set that morphed into a three tight end set, and then there was Austin, and now there is Ogletree. We saw the Razorback and flanker screens this last week for the first time. There seems to be something new every week.

Skip is right, (uggggh) this team can line up with three tight ends and run over you, it can line up four wide and shoot it out with you, if you have a weakness the cowboys can exploit it.

The secret really isn't that secret, all of training camp the word was Bennett and Jones. We were installing offense around these two new weapons. Bennett has been a force in the running game and Felix has seen spot duty but nothing like we thought we would see. The secret is we've yet to see any of the offense they were working on in training camp, there is more to come.

I'm watching the eagles game again and---

the 4th and inches play where McNabb does the QB sneak- I can see McNabb's left arm tucked under him and between the legs of someone on the ground, it is only for a millisecond, but he was down and he still did not reach the tip of the beak on the logo and the yardstick was beyond where he was anyway, he did not have the first down either way.

Spencer got rapped on a play, some guy is hanging off his arm hanging on and the official is standing right there watching and no call,

the officials were over all really bad both ways.

Cowboys fan

hey guys, I'm not here to troll but was curios as to how you guys looked at the Cowboys and how you think the game will go Monday? How and who will your guys try to be exploiting and what scares you if anything?

I must warn you not even Cowboys fans know what to expect, one week our D-backs will shut down all pro receivers and the next week get burnt by rookies. The D will get run over one week and shut down Brandon Jacobs the next. Romo might throw three TD's or three INT's. Our wide receivers might catch 350 yards or 80. Dallas is all over the place!

The constants are, they have been very good on the O-line and the 12 package (two tight ends) can both block and run routs deep. Dallas can run the ball and they are blocking really well right now. Dallas d-line is getting pressure on QB's but are not getting sacks, they beat Leftwich to death and just missed Eli on two or three potential sacks.

Dallas is coming off a very emotional game and it will be hard to get up again, I worry the cowboys may not show up for this one.

Unproven

There is a lot of Cowboy hate going around these days. USA today gives us a C-, Tim Caloshaw says were no better than third in our own division, and Emmitt smith gives a laundry list of why we will go 7-9 and John Claytons revelation that the Cowboys are going to come in last in the division. Why?

I ask why not? We are after all unproven. But there is hope!

Last year alone is key, the Falcons were picked to be a train wreck with the Owner even going on TV and asking the fans to be patient they were rebuilding. I find it funny John Clayton was animated that the Falcons were the worst team in all of football. He honestly believed the Falcons may not win a game. HaHa its kindof funny he almost got it right, just the wrong team.

How about the Dolphins? Again Clayton picks them to come in last, or at least fight with the Bills for that honor.

Or the Eagles, yea it was a general consencus that the Eagles would be fighting the Redskins for the basement. Just in case everyone forgot, the redskins did sweep the eagles last year. most everyone had written the Eagles off for dead but here they are.

Where did Tennessee start the power rannkings? There some pundits claiming that Jacksonville had finally taken over the division and the Colts would come in second. There were even some who thought the Texans were the flavor of the month. Very few people even mentioned Tennessee as a posibility. They were at the lower part of the middle of the power rankings (just about where we are right now).

There was also the Cardinals, I must admit I heard thier name mentioned somewhere for the playoffs, once. Noone thought they would be going to the superbowl!

And lets not forget the Dallas Cowboys were going to win it all! (sigh), if only the pundits knew what they were talking about.

The point to this lesson is this, these bozos only believe what they see, and the eyes decieve you. Wade keeps saying "this years team" and "no team is the same from one year to the next". If the pundits really wanted to impress me tell me whats going to happen by what has changed, not what happenned last year!

What does it mean to us? Well the Redskins could roaring out of the basement sand send us to a 7-9 season just like they say or we could just as easily go 13-3(just like the Titans). To understand what is going on you have to be able to understand one simple thing, "this years team". Not last years. That goes for all 32 teams!

Doug Free, play by play, preseason 49ers

Doug Free's play by play for the preseaon game aginst the 49ers.

3rd, 11:17, drop back pass, no one to block, helps with DT late.

3rd, 11:15, run off right guard, Doug drives DE 3 yards before Choice gets to the line of scrimage. (notice Gurode is playing center) big run play.

3rd, 10:40, Shotgun pass, the 49ers show a crazy line up, the DE lines up 5 yards outside of Doug's shoulder, a linebacker lines up right over Doug and when the play starts the DE drops into Coverage and the DT stunts all the way around. Doug figurs it out and blocks the DT but I don't know how he knew he was coming.

3rd, 9:51, Power I, Run off right guard, Doug has to block the defensive end who is lined up on his inside shoulder, extremly poor play design but Doug makes the block by cutting the DE off. Pure athleticism to make this block.

3rd, 9:14, play action pass/screen, Doug shoves the DE so hard he runs into Phillips who is lined up beside McQuistan at Right Tackle, Very strong block.

3rd, 9:07, Shotgun, Doug drops the DE to one knee with a punch.

3rd, ?:??(did not write the time down), 2 TE set, Doug gets a double team on the DT and Phillips gets the DE by himself, it aint pretty. poorly designed play, Doug does his job and he and the guard make block easily.

3rd, 6:35, draw play, Doug turns his man outside.

3rd, 6:15 shotgun, Doug picks up blitzing safety and pancakes him.

3rd, :02 Run outside doug, turns his man inside and drives him over bodies and to the ground.

4th, 15:00 drop back pass, Doug picks up delayed blitzing linebacker, Choice pops the linebacker and Doug lets him go. I don't know who is at fault, Doug, Choice, or even Kitna. maybe a screen that Kitna just held to long?

4th, 14:14, Play action pass, Doug is helped by the play action and blocks his man easily.

4th, 14:08, Shotgun draw, Doug gets driven back slightly but his guy is out of the play.

4th, 13:35, Play action roll out (bootleg), Doug and hooland double DE, easy block .

4th, 12:54 Shotgun Draw, Doug turns DE outside and out of play.

4th, 12:22, run off left guard, Doug turns De outside, out of play,

4th, 11:48, Run off righ guard, doug pancakes the DE,

4th, 11:25, Run over center, Turns the DE outside and for some strange reason grabs him from behind after the play is well down the field. That would have been a rally stupid hold if called.

4th, 7:44, Quick out away from doug, his man gets no presure

4th, 3:49, 3:49 shotgun pass, DE attempts to bull rush, Doug stones him where he stands.

4th, 3:34 drop back pass, DE attempts to bull rush, Doug stones him at the line again.

4th, 3:13, Shotgun pass, Doug has a DE lined up on of him and an OLB outside of him, he blocks the OLB and Holland blocks the DT, the DE goes untouched up the middle, Kitna throws the ball to Stanback too early, It looks like Stanback ran a poor rout but it was a problem in the blocking.

4th, 3:09, Drop back pass, Doug bounces back and forth in support of Holland and Phillips in pass protection.

4th,kitna drops snap

Did not do the last thre plays but will say Doug had no problem blocking his man.

I know it's only three preseson games but we could not have hoped for more than Doug has done. He has given up 1 pressure and 0 sacks, has pancaked people left and right and when called on to do so and driven guys out of the hole when run behind. He is really good at blocking the speed rush and is a very smart player (pointing out blitzes and recgnizing blitzes). He was called for one penalty that belonged to Proctor. Left tackle is not a problem.

At first I thought Doug should start but Flo has been playing pretty good so I'm happy either way. Flo will have to lose the job or get hurt but Free is ready. He will have the growing pains only experience can stop. I think he's a downgrade to Flo at this point but I think he's really close to being really good.

Doug has a strong punch that made the guy in Oakland just quit, he dropped the DE this week to a knee, Doug wears on a guy and gets stronger as the game goes on.

The only thing that gives me any reserves about Doug is he gets bull rushed. I hear people say it's because of strength but he destroys guys in the run game and drives them ll over the field. Is that not strength too? I think he lacks leverage or junk in the trunk? The bullrush problem is overstated as it only occassionally happens.

Is he ready for the likes of which he will face in the east? Yea, I think he's close.

LT is not a problem.

He will have the growing pains only experience can stop. I think he's a downgrade to Flo at this point but I think he's really close to being really good.

LT is not a problem.

play by play for Siavii, 49ers preseason play.

2nd, 7:21, Run off left guard, pushes center into hole and cause pile up, very strong play.

2nd, 6:40, Trap play off guard, Siavii get pancaked by tackle.

2nd, 5:59, 4 man line, drop back pass, Siavii pushes guard six yards back, dep, deep drop by QB.

3rd, 8:55, Screen pass, Siavii hits guard and then gets blocked by tackle, not a factor in the play.

3rd, 8:20 Play action roll out pass, Siavii pushes the pulling guard two yards deep. Bites on the play action takes himself out of play.

3rd, 8:06, Drop back pass, Siavii gets pancaked.

3rd, 7:09, Drop back pass, drives double team 3 yards deep and almost swats pass down.

3rd, 5:43, Quick pass, no time to make a play.

3rd, 5:39, sweep left, never had a chance to be a part of play,

3rd, 5:04, Run off left guard, Siavii gets doubled by guard and center, gets dumped to turf but causes a pile where the ball was going.

3rd, 4:20, screen pass, Siavii rushes the passer as the linemen let him go, he's out of the play.

3rd, 3:25, Play action deep pass, Siavii bites on play action gets blocked by center and is not a factor in play.

3rd, 3:00, Drop back pass, Siavii gets driven four yards and QB scrambles into gapping hole left by a vacated Siavii.

3rd, 2:07, Run off right guard, Siavii gets doubled by guard/center, gets turned out of play.

3rd, 1:25, play action roll out pass, Siavii bites on play action takes himself out of the play.

3rd, :39, dro back pass, Siavii no push or pass rush gets stood up at line.

3rd, :17, Goalline, Siavii holds his ground against double team, back actually jumps over him, thats pretty amazing.

4th, : 10:53 Run right, tries to pusue the play but gets driven 4 yards off the line of scrimage.

4th, 9:25, drop back pass, Gets good push, Hatcher gets sack, QB could not step up and Siavii helped in that role.

4th, 8:50, shot gun screen, reads screen pass quickly pursues the play and makes tackle 10 yards down field.

4th, 8:02, screen pass, RB drops pass, Siavii read it quickly agian.

4th, 7:39, run up middle, left guard shoves Siavii past the right guard, AWFUL play for Siavii.

4th, 6:57, drop back pass, gets a four yard push and stalls on the rush.

4th, 6:15, run play off right tackle, turns his back to the center and gets driven 5 yards, sigh!!!!

4th, 5:25, drop back pass, Siavii plays patty cake with center, he is swating his hands but not really doing much, I think hes trying to look busy but not really do anything, he looks tired.

4th, 4:43, wildcat run, guard just slings Siavii to the ground, pathetic.

4th, 1:51, Pass play, Siavii shucks the centers hands and goes right by him, he lets up as he gets to the QB, almost like he didn't want to hurt him. Siavii should have had a sack at the 1.

4th, 1:46, Siavii stunts and trips over the DE. He falls to the ground.

4th, 1:40, pass play, Ha ha they block Siavii with a tripple team but fail to block just about everyone else. The only person they attempt to block is siavii!

4th, 1:30, Siavii, initally stunts but see's the back slip ot of the backfield, he slides to the back, very nice recognition.

4th, 1:24, Siavii pulls the center to the left giving Bobby a clean lane to blits through, subtle but nice.

4th, 1:16, Siavii attempts to shuck the center it does not work he gets stoop up on the line, no pass rush on pass play.

4th, :54, pass play, Siavii gets good push and almost swats ball down, he does a good jub of getting into the passing lane but mistimes his jump.

4th, :42, Splits double team and gets pressure on the QB,

4th, :38, shoots a gap and the RB goes to the othe side of center, i think he did his job but the linebacker failed to fill the other gap.

Through three preseason games Siavii has been fairly consistant until this week against single teams beating them regurly. The left guard of San Fran was a beast and even threw Siavii to the ground once.

Siavii has some of the worst plays I've seen him have in this game. He had a series of plays that he was just awful being pushed around badly. I'm a little more worried now than I was a week ago. He still had some good plays where he stood the double teams up and even split and beat one.

I was hoping for more this game.

I changed the format just a little to include the quarter and time the play started. I did not include special teams, here is what I could see.

1st, 1:20 Shotgun pass, full back sets up fro screen Bobby shadows him, a good eight yards off but ready to make tackle.

2nd, 5:59 Blitz, Bobby runs into guard occupying him, Williams on delayed blitz,

2nd, :52, Bobby has good coverage on Davis into flat, Davis lined up in backfield slipped into flat.

2nd, :37 Shotgun draw, TE attempts to block Bobby but Bobby uses his hands and keeps Davis off him, Bobby sheds the block and makes the tackle on the play for minimum gain.

2nd, :16 Shotgun Pass, Davis makes a good comeback move Bobby loses him for just a second but recovers quickly and has good coverage.

3rd, 13:46, Shotgun Bobby blitzes and James comes on delayed blitz, James comes free on blitz,

3rd, 5:00, Run play off letf guard, Bobby attacks gap and hits guard at line gets driven about a yard but holds the hole, the back has nowhere to run as Siavii and Bobby colapse all the running lanes.

3rd, 4:20, Screen pass, bobby covers tight end on other side of field, hes out of the play.

3rd, 3:25, Bobby covers RB aout of the backfield, good coverage

3rd, 3:00, Drop back pass then scramble, Bobby peals off coverage and forces the QB to slide.

3rd, 2:05, Run off right guard, Guard drives Bobby five yards straight back. Bobby gets overpowered.

3rd, 1:25 Play action roll out, Bobby bites on play action, recovers and covers #17 a wide out deep down the field.

3rd, :39 Drop back pass, Bobby covers tight end down seam and releases him to Ball, Ball is slow to come over and deep pass completed.

3rd, :17, Goalline, Bobby is blocked by Tackle but holds his gap,

4th, 10:49, swep right, a defensive lineman gets driven back into Bobby then both of them get driven out of the play badly. I could not tell who the lineman was, maybe Jefferson,

4th, 10:44, Run off right tackle, Bobby pursues play but running back changes direction and runs off right tackle, Butler lost containment and bobby chases running back down down and makes tackle 8 yards down field.

4th, 9:25, Drop back pass, TE sets up on screen, Bobby shadows him in position to make tackle, ball goes elsewhere.

4th, 8:45, Screen pass, Bobby covers tight end on other side of field.

4th, 8:02, Bobby drops back into zone, screen pass underneath. Bobby not in play.

4th, 7:37, Run up middle, Bobby gets wrapped up by fullback, whole defense gets driven back including Bobby,

4th, 6:57, Drop back pass, Dump off to running back, bobby gets bumped in backfield trying to cover fullback, he loses him but pass goes elsewhere.

4th, 6:11, Run off right tackle, Full back hits Bobby and drives him 3 yards driving him out of play.

4th, 5:35, Play action pass, FB screen, Bobby covers tight end down seam.

4th, 4:40, Wildcat run, The center hits and drives Boby out of the play, Bobby struggles to get off block and lacks the power to hold his ground.

4th, 1:51, bobby blitzes and hits QB just as he releases the ball, nice hit too.

4th, 1:46, Bobby has good coverage on running back out of backfield.

4th, 1:40, Bobby checks the jams the tight end knocking him off his rout, good chuck and good coverage.

4th, 1:30, Bobby drops into zone, no one to cover.

4th, 1:26, Bobby on delayed blitz, he is very quick getting to QB, dump off pass.

4th, 1:16, Bobby has good coverage on tight end out of backfield, good coverage.

4th, :58, bobby covers running back out of backfield, good coverage,

4th, :41, Defensive line blows the play up and Bobby navigates the traffic impressivly. He's not part of play but he moves well when not being blocked.

4th, :34, Run up middle, Bobby gets off block from guard but attempts to make tackle and slipps of the running back, weak tackle, winning TD.

Next week is about as an irrelivant game as you can have so I will make my observations now about preseason.

Week one Bobby was pushed around badly by the raiders, week two he played an almost perfect game, and week three (this week) he went back to getting pushed around just not as much or as badly. Bobby has a habit of getting blown out of plays. I think to our benifit he plays better with the starters, it seemed someone on the D-line was getting blown up more than they should. I should give credit to the left guard of San Fran that guy was huge and athletic. He was making a lot of guys look bad.

What I expect from what I see is a guy who will not be consistant against the run but is quick enough to make big plays in the run game. He can blitz and cover so he makes the perfect nickle linebacker. Dallas lined him up outside some and blitzed him off the edge the first two weeks (but not this week)and he looked good there too. Just not strong enough or mean enough or tough enough or whatever enough to hold up against the run. He got better and seems to be getting better so heres hoping he continues to improve but he's everything you want out of the nickle linebacker.

Another thing I noticed was Dallas stayed with the 3-4 base unless it was 3rd and long and even then sometimes they would stay in the 3-4. Every week they would line up 3-4 against three wide, and that put some pressure on the defense to cover the skill players. Example, the San Fran final drive was three wide and three wide with a tight ends(four wide) and Dallas stayed in the 3-4, if it were the season you would see something very diffrent.

I'm satisfied with Bobby in the role he will be playing but I don't think he's a good option to replace Brookings or James,. Everyone hope Williams learns quick.

Julius Crosslin play by play Tennessee

This guy might see some game time this year, he may not make the team. I was curious how he played under the microscope so here it is. His play by play for Tennessee

Run up middle, Safety blitz, Crosslin hits the safety (Chris Hope) and drives him 4 yards.

Run right, cutback left, Crosslin delivers crushing blow to Safety (Chris Hope), Hope will be looking for him from now on.

Run right guard, Crosslin meets MLB and delivers good pop, turns him outside and running back runs off his hip.

Draw play, Crosslin meets OLB in hole, Crosslin buckles and falls to his knees after contact., if Crosslin makes this block its Marion and a sefety and thats it.

Crosslin to flat, juggles pass and catches it four yard gain,

Crosslin into flat, no one covers him pass goes elsewhere.

Crosslin lines up with bunched recievers right, quick screen pass left. Crosslin out of play.

Drop back pass, dump off to crosslin, 8 yard gain, Crosslin showed a quickness after gathering the pass.

Pass play, Crosslin runs into flat, no one covers him pass goes elsewhere.

Reverse, Crosslin leads fake run into line.

Goalline run, Crosslin meets Kosier who is pulling and they drive linebacker 4 yards out of hole.

Quick WR screen, Crosslin looks like he is trying to get to safety but he runs into MLB. He was not trying to block him bu got knocked off course.

Crosslin lines up outside TE, he motions into backfield, Chips DE who is speed rushing and slips into flat, he is covered well by a line backer.

Run up middle, Crosslin meets stunting DE in hole crushes him and blast him out of hole, There is a gaping hole to run through, CB blitzes and tackles Jones right after getting ball, Jones had a huge hole curtousy of Crosslin but not to be, unlucky call. GAPING HOLE! DE is Vandanbosh.

3rd and 1 fullback draw, Crosslin meet two yards deep in backfield, powers three yards out of play, just one of those plays that every one ignores but was really a big play.

Drop back pass, Crosslin covered into flat, linebacker has him covered well.

Pitch play to Barber, Crossling gets fake handoff,

Run off left tackle, Crosslin goes 6 yards before finding someone to block, another gaping hole, getting late into second and Tennessee's defense is starting to look soft. They are worn out.

Play action roll out, Crosslin leads fake and looks for someone to block on backside but there is noone there.

Last play of half, goalline, Crosslin meets blitzing linebacker in hole, linbacker crumbles to turf,

Drop back pass, Crosslin catches stunting DE and stops him in his tracks, good block.

Drop back pass, Choice and Crosslin both block DE, Crosslin is talking to Ray Sherman, I think he was suppossed to run a swing rout.

Schwapp takes over.

The real question is, do like Crosslin or do you like Hannah? I personally like Crosslin because of plays like the two goal line plays, we need him there, but Hannah may be as good or better in a lot of areas. Crosslin did nothing to hur himself and was dominate on certian plays.

I think it really depends on how bad anderson is hurt, if he's coming back we keep Hannah and try to put crosslin on PS. If not Hannah is gone and we keep Crosslin.
