Happy Birthday!... This isn't junk...really

Guess who's birthday it is?

Today marks 70 great years for the legendary baller and "Player of the Century", Oscar Robertson. Everyone knows and understands what he meant for the game of basketball and for the NBA. (My personal choice for greatest player of all time) Averaging a triple-double for an entire season!?! Are you serious?!? He is the original prototype for the all-around player that throwbacks like B-Roy should be molding themselves after. Gotta love the man! On behalf of all of us Bedgers, (and I'm sure he is reading this) Happy Bithday Big-O!

You may not already know this, but he shares a birthday with another great NBA stud. Our very own Shavlik Randolph.

Now, it would be silly of me to compare our boy, Shavlik Randolph, with Oscar Robertson. They are from different generations and play different positions. The game has changed. Guys are bigger, stronger, and faster now. That just wouldn't be fair. I mean, how can you possibly compare the two and know for certain who would be better? That's like comparing Ray Charles to Lil' Wayne. Or Marilyn Monroe to Paris Hilton. You just can't tell who is more classy or talented, and that's all there is to say about that.

Shavlik also shares a B-day with "Old Rough and Ready", Zachary Taylor. I have a feeling that Zachary's 16 months of presidency is still longer than Shav's term will be as a Blazer. Because, like Pete Best, Shavlik will be replaced just in time to see his mates go to "The Toppermost of the Poppermost"... Happy Birthday anyway, Shavlik!

Speaking of Pete, I can hear him singing something. Listen...

Oh wow, it's Pete's birthday too! I'm sorry that I almost forgot, and for your luck, Pete. Oooo, that one had to sting a little. Way to walk it off, though. Look on the bright side, at least you helped give the world Ringo! Everybody loves Ringo, right? : / I'm glad it's your birthday! Happy Birthday to you!

One more little slice of birthday cake for my own gratification. It's Katherine Heigl's B-day too......yep......got a picture in my mind...has something to do with a birthday suit, candles, and chocalate frosting. Mmmm, I really like frosting.

Yeah, that was a little creepy. And now for more creepy...

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Billionaire entrepreneur Mark Cuban, owner of the National Basketball Association's Dallas Mavericks, was charged Monday by the Securities and Exchange Commission with insider trading.

According to the SEC, Cuban sold 600,000 shares of Internet search company Mamma.com in June 2004 using non-public information.

Cuban is accused of calling his broker and instructing him to sell all of his stock from Mamma.com after receiving the confidential information from the company.

The SEC said Cuban learned that the company would raise money through a public offering, and he knew the stock price was about to fall.

When the offering was made public, the stock fell 9.3%, and Cuban avoided losses in excess of $750,000 by selling stock the day before, the SEC report said.

"As we allege in the complaint, Mamma.com entrusted Mr. Cuban with nonpublic information after he promised to keep the information confidential," Scott W. Friestad, Deputy Director of the SEC's Division of Enforcement said in the report. "Less than four hours later, Mr. Cuban betrayed that trust by placing an order to sell all of his shares."

Efforts to reach Cuban for comment were not immediately successful.

Cuban has been identified as one of the bidders for Major League Baseball's Chicago Cubs for about a year, after the team was put up for sale by owner Sam Zell, chief executive of the Tribune Company (TXA). But baseball sources told the Chicago-Sun Times last week that Cuban is unlikely to get the league's blessing despite his deep pockets.
