so where do we begin?
we know we need a true number 1 receiver. But Mr. Parcells doesn't consider that position a priority. Based also on the bosses luck at finding receivers in free agency, I think we're probably not going to see much change to our receiver corps until 2011.
I see the Dolphins drafting linebackers in the upcoming draft. I would guess that the first 3 rounds are going to be linebackers with no less than 2 of those backers being of the inside variety.
I also see us going after safeties (at least 2) somewhere in the middle of our draft
We MAY try and get someone like Vince Wilfork in free agency but I'm not holding my breath. I think they would rather try and find an unknown beast somewhere in the later rounds.
Sadly, I think this was our last season seeing Ronnie Brown in a Dolphins uniform. He was having a monster year before his injury so his trade value will be high. Bill Parcells does not like injury prone players. Say what you want about Ronnie's injuries being of the freak variety and his injuries being bad luck and all, but the fact is he hasn't finished 2 of the last 3 seasons.
If someone offers at least a third round pick for Teddy Ginn, I also think we've seen the last of him. Yes I know he has potential with his speed. But you have to be able to catch the ball to make that threat an issue.
Joey Porter is headed to retirement. We may be able to squeak another year out of Jason Ferguson. I think Taylor will be back for another year.
I just hope we get some guys that can play and can learn the playbook. If Turner doesn't show that he knows the plays by next year, I think our 6'5" mystery man can safely be called a failed experiment.
Another disappointing end to the year.
I just dont see it as a negative
Since it has been announced that we have been "flexed" out of the prime time game, I don't see it as being a bad thing, If it were up to me, ALL of our games would be on Sunday at 1:00 EST. I can handle it when we play a 4:00 game, but in all honesty, I don't like it when we play on Monday, Sunday, or Thursday night.
I know the NFL's reasons for putting games on different times and different days. It's a business and I understand. But it has to really mess up game planning for short weeks and the body's own time schedule for healing itself.
Can anybody answer this?
At the end of last nights game. It was 4th down with 2 yards to go near Carolina's 30 yard line with just over 2 minutes to play in the game. WHY did Coach Sparano go for it????? A field goal would have put us up by 10 points causeing Carolina to need 2 scores. INSTEAD though the Coach had what seemed to be a Belichek moment and went for it. This gave the Panthers the ball back which due to the dreaded prevent defense they were able to get the ball back to their own 30 with time for one play. Yes I know that hail mary passes don't normally work, but why even risk it? I'm beginning to believe that the Dolphins take some sort of pleasure out of giving me more gray hairs.
An idea
We all know how Mr. Parcells, the big Tuna, feels about injuries. This does not bode well for Ronnie and his foot. Since he is most likely now going to be gone at the end of the season because with 2 season ending injuries in 3 years I just don't see him staying in Miami, what do you think of the idea of bringing in Dwane Bowe for Ronnie Brown in an even trade? 1. it would release a player that is on injured reserve for the rest of the season. and 2. it would give us our much needed number 1 with a few games for he and Henne to get used to each other before next season. I like Ronnie, don't get me wrong, but I'm starting to believe he's injury prone and his running style tells me that it's just a matter of time before he gets injured again. Being that Bowe has been suspended, I think his value has severely dropped. Tuna would not have to give up any of his cherished picks. I really don't see a negative in this.
I LOVED the win... BUT
Can we please wrap one, just one, game up before the 4th quarter starts? These emotional roller coaster games are taking a toll on me. We're up, we're down, we come back, they come back, we're up again and then they have the ball on the final drive and it's under a minute. Like I said, it was a great win. Nothing makes me happier than to see Rex looking at his belly, wondering if he remembered to pull up his zipper (he hasn't seen it in years). But guys PLEASE, I'm begging you, wrap it up and seal the win in the third quarter for ONCE.
what COULD have been
I was looking at past drafts and who we COULD have had on our team. This is depressing.
2006
round 1-with the 16th pick, Miami Dolphins select Jason Allen. We could have had Antonio Cromartie at #19
round 2-no pick
round 3-with the 82nd pick, Miami Dolphins select Derick Hagen. We could have had Owen Daniels at #98
round 4- at 114 we pick Joe Toledo. At #119 we could have had Brandon Marshall
round 5-no pick
round 6-no pick
round 7- at 226 Rodrigue Write. at 252 we could have had Marcus Colston
2007
round 1 - #9 Ted Ginn. We could have had Darril Revis who went at #14
round 2 - #40 John Beck. We could have had Tony Ugoh who went at #42
round 3 - #71 Lorenzo Booker. We could have had Michael Bush who went at #100
round 4 - #108 Paul Solia. We could have had LeRon McClain who went 137
round 5 - no pick
round 6 - #181 Regan Mauia. We could have had Tyler Thigpen at #217.
#199 Drew Mormino. We could have had Chansi Stucky at #235
round 7 - #219 Kelvin Smith. We could have had Aamad Bradshaw who went at #250 or Pierre Thomas who was undrafted.
In 2009, finally it appears as if the front office appears to know what it's doing. God I hope so.
Gameday
I'm sure every one of us has a ritual which he/she does EVERY game. Either they wear the same thing, tie their right shoe before their left, eat the same thing, etc.
For me, I'll get me Dolphin jersey, Dolphin socks, Dolphin sneakers and order a French Dip sandwich (don't ask) as soon as I enter the bar that MUST be finished before kickoff.
What are some of the other rituals out there?
a true showing of unsportsmanlike conduct
Being a fan of a team that was humiliated in a playoff game (thanks Jaxsonville), I just thought that the Patriots showed everyone just how childlike and unsportsmanlike they truly are. I mean, I know the NFL doesn't have a mercy rule or anything like that but it really brought my opinion of Bellicheat lower (if that's at all possible). There is no good reason to need more than 6 scores against your opponent. Period. Tom Brady shouldn't have even played the second half of that game. It was disgusting to watch and I'm very greatful that the tv station here showed the end of the Jills/Jests game instead of keeping on the Patsies.
how soon will I be banned?
I just left the following post on the GangGreen website:
Poor Poor Rex, there he was, looking down at his belly, just hoping that last kick wouldn't go through the uprights. But he knew. He knew he was going to lose to the Bills just as he knew his father had named him after the family dog. You could see from his eyes that he kind of got lost in the moment. In a moment he quickly thought of that jelly donut he left on his desk and how good it would taste, he wondered if he remembered to pull up his fly since he can't see under his belt. He hoped his shoes were tied because again he couldn't see past that big belly to check. Then he quickly came back, almost as fast as he zoned out. Yes he was glad that he had Mark Sanchez as the face of the organization because, well, hell, look at him and look at Rex.
I'm sure that Rex had the best of intentions when he came to New York (well, NJ but the Jets can't even call that home since they play in Giants Stadium). It's amazing almost how fast things can change. Looks like if Rex doesn't turn things around soon, his stay in New York may not be for as long as he hoped.
Hope they liked it.

There once was a time
Over the years I have always loved the Dolphins. I'm 42 now and I can remember back to when I was still in elementary school having a Miami Dolphins lightswitch cover in my bedroom. The levels of hatred for our AFC East rivals though has waxed and waned.
I used to hate the Bills years ago when I first started to like the Dolphins. I was born in NJ so it was always fun to joke on and give a hard time to Jests fans. The last few years, well almost a decade, I have hated the Patsies like nobody else, Now though, I kinda feel sorry for the Bills, I see the Patsies (despite today's game) declining and I hate the Jests more than anyone, And I can say that I owe my newfound hatred all to Rex Ryan.
Normally I would have been rooting for a tie today between the Jests and Bills. But I couldn't help but cheer when Sanchez threw yet another interception,
Last day to get a trade in is coming up
With this day coming up, will the trifecta make a deal? Yes I know about Kory Sheets. Yes I think he's an upgrade as our returner. I still think we need that #1 receiver. What are the odds that the trifecta will go after Dwane Bowe? I figure it'll cost at least a number 1, probably a number 3, and more than likely a player like Camerillo or Roth. I still say it's more than worth it. Bowe was drafted in the first round so giving up a first rounder for a player that performs like a true #1 receiver is in my honest opinion, worth it. The Chiefs have said that he's available for the right price. I say the price I suggested is well worth the deal. Can you imagine Bowe on one side and Ginn on the other with Bess in the slot? Our receiving core instantly is feared.

Announcers
In my years of watching the Dolphins play. I have sat through numerous announcers calling the game. Some were good, some were bad, and some were horrendous. Howard Cosell was probably the best at giving the most accurate mental image of what was going on. I also really liked listening to Phil Rizzuto and Mel Allen call a Yankees game. With that said, I'd like some opinions on the announcers who call the games today.
I HATE when Dan Douchedork calls a Dolphins game. His hatred of the Fins comes out it seems in every statement he makes.
I think Chris Collensworth is pretty good at his job. Many times he'll call a penalty before the refs do and sometimes I've even seen it where he'll pick up a penalty that the refs failed to call.
I'm really liking how Jon Gruden calls a game. He's new but I see great potential there.
So Here's an idea, well, a few
Let's inactivate Ted Ginn Monday night and replace him on the roster with Patrick Turner. The man is 6'5 !!! I mean seriously, could he actually do worse than Teddy ? What could happen? At least we'd have a great sized target in the end zone who might actually MAKE the catch.
We also need to show off some of the wildcat wrinkles that the coaches swear we have. I'd love to see Ronnie give it to Henne who then throws it long to Bess.
Finally, I hope the coaches find a way to get JT, Wake, and Joey all on the field at the same time.
How much more time
How much more time do we give Ted Ginn? When he was is his rookie season, the excuse was that he needs time to get adjusted to the speed of an NFL game. When he was in his second year, the excuse was that it usually takes 3 years for a wide receiver to be truly ready to contribute. Well, we got to the third year and the excuse changed to Chad Pennington just doesn't have the arm to showcase Ginn's speed. What's the excuse going to be now? Henne certainly has the arm, he's in year three, he's nowhere close to being a rookie. Oh, let me guess, he just hasn't had enough time to work with Henne, Give me a break. Get rid of the bum and his family and get somebody that can not only get open but catch the ball when he does.
so what
so what if most of the "experts" didn't pick us to win tomorrow
so what if we're playing on a short week
so what if we have to travel to the west coast
so what if our starting qb has a noodle arm and needs 2 weeks of rest to throw it more than 25 yards
so what if our #1 receiver wouldn't be a #2 on some teams
I STILL think we have a chance tomorrow. I STILL think coach Sparano is gonna have the team fired up.
***Warning*** This is scary
I've been fighting a very scary thought. Al Davis is like the uncle you thought was crazy until you found out just how brilliant he was. You know, he burns the toast but actually he'a a great cook but doesn't like to do it. He put a hole in the wall with the vaccuum but he can vaccuum just fine. He got paint all over the ceiling and carpet when his wife asked him to paint the basement but he got all A's in art class in school. The man has mistakenly shown everyone that he knows what he's doing.
He made a mistake on Jamarcus, but everything he's done since is turning out great. For intance:
drafting Darren McFadden
drafting Heyward-Bey over Michael Crabtree
getting rid of Jake Grove
getting Richard Seymore who seems to have already known the playbook
Really makes you wonder.
Oh THIS does NOT sound good
Someone PLEASE tell me this isn't the JD Quinn that we signed. We have enough problems don't we???
Now I know the trifecta can be counted on to make some amazing turnerounds (see last season) but, isn't this asking a little much?
I've always been a person that if someone makes a mistake once it can and should be forgiven. If you make the same mistake a second time, that shows an inability or an unwantenness to change. Make that same mistake a third time, and, well, it's just plain stupidity. Mind you, these were the only instances where he was CAUGHT.
After the free agents that were available and we let slip past us, it makes me wonder what exactly was on the trifecta's combined mind.

The FA pool has gotten pretty thin
Im NOT sold on Jake Grove being the answer at center. I'd be very happy if the fins picked up C Grey Ruegamer, Giants. Age: 33. Weight: 299 Born: Jun 11, 1976. One of the more capable backup offensive linemen in the NFL. Those are the only free agents left (currently) that I would be even remotely be interested in signing. I have my fingers crossed, but I don't know why I even bother.
The inside linebacker we need
Bill Parcells and the trifecta have the chance to make it up to me. I will forgive the draft mishaps IF they pick up recently released Pittsburg Steelers linbacker Larry Foote. He is a proven NFL linebacker, Height: 6-1 Weight: 239 Age: 28 and he's won 2 Superbowls with the Steelers. After all the linebackers that were passed by in the draft, we now have the chance and the cap room to pick up one of the better proven linebackers in the league. He is familiar with playing in a 3-4 and I'm sure Joey Porter would love to have a former Steeler playing beside him. Come on Bill, do this one little thing for me, PLEASE.
