Blogging The Boys O-Line Shuffle

True Guards like Robert Brewster and Travis Bright have been doomed to be inactive because of their inability to play Center. It's the same phenomenon that's kept Cory Procter around.  Unfortunately, we cannot bring everyone to play on game day, and you just don't need very many o-linemen for special teams purposes. This has made versatility very important among backup O-linemen. It seems that, as of late, it's been easier to find a C/G than it has to find a G/T.

Presumably, Brewster and Bright are pure guards.  They don't have the ideal height to play tackle and it's important to have players on the edges who can keep the QB clean.

Blogging The Boys NOT about the DRAFT. Salary Cap Proposal

I am admittedly no expert on the NFL's salary cap, or current lack thereof.  But I believe that the cap that just expired went too far, by placing a cap on a team's total salary.  What do you guys think of a multi-tiered cap that gives teams a loftier budget to retain its own home-grown players, but a more limited budget to acquire Free Agents? Maybe another tier for traded for players?

Look for my reasons after the jump

Blogging The Boys Brandon Marshall

It doesn't seem likely that a team will give up the kind of draft pick Denver is looking for to get Brandon Marshall. As the draft nears, his value will continue to drop and after the draft, Josh McDaniels may be desperate to unload his disgruntled WR.

Many years ago, the Dallas Cowboys made a big mistake trading two first round picks for Joey Galloway. The Roy Williams trade suggests that the team did not learn its lesson. Although Jerry says he wants to keep waiting it out, what Jerry says and what Jerry does are not always congruent. After all, how much warning did we get leading up to the T.O. release? Don't worry, I'm not suggesting the Cowboys should trade another First for a wide receiver

Blogging The Boys ...Keep Your Enemies Closer

Being a Cowboys fan in Philadelphia is not always fun. Sure, I got to sport a Cowboys T.O. jersey around town to incite reactions, but I also have to hear Eagles fans talk...and they do that a lot.

Just as I arrived at the gym yesterday, a friend of mine invited me to the Eagles' preseason opener against the Patriots. Of course this meant I had to miss the Cowboys game, but I figured I share my impression of the Eagles with those of you who were likely watching the Cowboys play.  In college, I lived amongst Redskins fans (William and Mary), but have lost track of their most recent news, so if anyone has kept a close eye on them or the Giants, I'd love to hear what you know.

P.S. Did Pat Watkins really have a 14 yard catch? Did backup OFFENSIVE lineman Greg Isdaner really have the only sack? I assume that the latter was an error or perhaps Isdaner is the answer to the NT depth issue?
