Kansas City Chiefs news from across the internet is gathered here for your enjoyment. Page and Dorsey blew up Twitter last night. Some pretty funny stuff.
Also, be sure to rread this post and fill out the survey. We can help send $500 to a Chiefs charity. Quick and easy.
Think back a few weeks, to a point before free agency started. Can you imagine someone telling you that the Chiefs would be able to land a recent Pro Bowl center and a 28-year-old guard who played in two of the last four Super Bowls? And that they would do it before St. Patrick’s Day?......As we all know, those additions have actually happened in the form of two ex-Chiefs who’ve returned to Kansas City. One of them – Casey Wiegmann – was a starter here from 2001-2007. The other – Ryan Lilja – was originally a Chief during the summer of his rookie season before he was cut and claimed off waivers by the Indianapolis Colts.
Instead of providing us with some certainty about the offensive line, though, these new signings have actually left us here at Warpaint Illustrated with more questions than answers about where the line is headed.
Lilja & Wiegmann: More Questions Than Answers from WPI
The Dolphins agreed to a contract with Dansby and officially released Porter on the same day, March 5th, the opening of free agency. It was two weeks before Porter found employment with the Cardinals.
Porter’s signing was the only highlight of the first two days in the third week of the NFL off-season. That lack of action figures to continue as the NFL’s movers and shakers have all traveled to Orlando for the league’s annual March meetings.

Hello Saturday. Lovely day here in Jersey, but looks like less so for you KC folks. Here's your Kansas City Chiefs news to help keep you warm and fuzzy on the inside (or you can just drink).
Also, be sure to read this post and fill out the survey. We have a ton of members here at AP, so it will take a lot for us to have the highest %. Help send $500 to AP's favorite (and still to be determined) charity. It's quick and easy.
I like what Pioli is doing with the Chiefs, but I’d love it if he’d pick Berry. The problem is you can’t have everything, and my gut says that taking Berry that high would go against what Pioli wants to do.
History doesn’t suggest it either. The last safety taken with a top-five pick was nearly 20 years ago, and that was Eric Turner in the 1991 draft. So every other decade, but it almost never happens. Still, it doesn’t stop fans from wishing this time it’ll be different.
I know folks are tired of hearing about the Patriot connection, but Pioli is from that fold. When trying to figure out what he might do, especially in the draft, New England provides a good road map. Will Chiefs stick with a building block or go for the popular pick in draft? from The Examiner
Former Patriots vice president of player personnel Scott Pioli, now the Kansas City Chiefs' general manager, used to keep a projected breakdown of compensatory draft choices on the whiteboard in his office each year. Another former Patriots executive, current Atlanta Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff, felt more comfortable trading a 2010 second-round draft choice for tight end Tony Gonzalez knowing that his team is likely to receive a high compensatory selection after cornerback Domonique Foxworth signed a four-year, $28 million contract with the Ravens last season.A history of picking their spots from ESPN

The United Football League has been actively trying to convince the NFL to invest in the junior league in hopes of gaining a valuable senior partner, as well as other investors, according to sources.
However, the latest proposal -- which would give the NFL a 30 percent stake in the one-year-old UFL -- is not on the agenda for discussion during the NFL owners' meetings, which run Sunday through Wednesday in Orlando, Fla.

Good morning, AP. Welcome to your weekend (I've decided it starts now). We've gathered your Kansas City Chiefs news for you, and a tweet from Jarrad Page that I think some of you will like.
Seattle's trade for quarterback Charlie Whitehurst got me thinking about the future of the Chiefs' Brodie Croyle. Both began the off-season as restricted free agents and the Seahawks worked out a deal with San Diego for the rights to Whitehurst.
Whitehurst and Croyle were taken in the same round of the same draft, the third round in 2006. Croyle has done little to distinguish himself in his time with the Chiefs, but let's remember the Kansas City offense has mostly been a mess no matter who the quarterback. The situation the Chiefs threw Croyle into was a near-impossible one for any quarterback.
What about Croyle? from The Red Zone
Finding football players good enough to participate in the National Football League is a dirty, rotten, stinkin’, 24/7, 365 days a year journey. It never stops. Ever.
Holidays, vacations and birthdays do not darken the lights of the NFL personnel office when it comes to finding players. The NFL’s annual March meetings will begin on Sunday in Orlando, and here’s betting that GM Scott Pioli and head coach Todd Haley will spend more time talking about potential Chiefs, than they will about other league business, or even Mickey Mouse and his friends over at Disney World.

Here we are again with another installment of Arrowheadlines, your Kansas City Chiefs news from across the internet. Due to last night's activities, I squeezed as much sleep in as I could and this post will be tweet-free. We'll start the day with a little Whitlock...
Lilja is one of my favorite NFL players. I don’t need to refresh your memory about Lilja’s history. I met the kid when he was a senior at Shawnee Mission Northwest. I covered his career at Kansas State. I was blown away by his performance during his free-agent tryout with the Chiefs in 2004. I’ve followed his entire Indianapolis career.
The kid can play at a high level. Getting Lilja for $7.5 million over three years — peanuts — is the best free-agent signing of the offseason by any team. He’ll be a starter in Kansas City for the next six years and maybe longer.
You add Lilja to Brian Waters and Casey Wiegmann, whom the Chiefs re-signed from Denver, and the foundation of the organization has been repaired. Matt Cassel has a pocket to step up in. The Chiefs will be effective in short-yardage running situations.
Leadership on the offensive side of the ball is a total nonissue. You can’t do better than Waters, Wiegmann and Lilja.
Chiefs' offseason moves are impressive from KC Star
Everyone knows new Chiefs defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel is a tough guy when it comes to defense.Just ask safety Eric Berry, considered one of the best defensive players available in next month’s draft.
They held a Pro Day workout for Berry in Knoxville on Wednesday and Crennel was there and in fact, was running the defensive back drills for Berry. All it took was two reps and Berry was done for the day with a sprained left big toe.

The Jets, not the Giants, will be hosting a Thanksgiving night game at the stadium the two teams will share, according to Gary Myers of the New York Daily News.
The announcement of the Thanksgiving games and the Week One prime-time games will be made Monday, in conjunction with the league meetings in Orlando.

I know he's gone, but does it get more Irish than Sean Patrick Ryan?
Top o' the morning to you, Chiefs fans and a happy St. Patty's Day. Enjoy your Kansas City Chiefs news from across the internet. Be safe.
No other general manager in the league has turned in more contracts to the league office in the last two weeks than Scott Pioli. Denver has made nine moves for second spot in the AFC. Over in the NFC, Detroit and Washington also have made nine moves. For our accounting purposes we are adding up the unrestricted free agents signed or re-signed, the restricted free agents who have signed their tender offer and any players acquired through trades.
When it comes to signing new players, only Pittsburgh can match the Chiefs total of five. That alone is quite a surprise since the Steelers have never been known as a major player in free agency. Like the Chiefs, Pittsburgh has signed a lot of UFAs, but they haven’t been the big name types with big dollars attached to their move.
Off-Season Moves/AFC Review … A Cup O’Chiefs from Bob Gretz
The Chiefs have made plenty of mistakes on players in recent seasons, and one of the biggest came six years ago when they let offensive lineman Ryan Lilja out of their grasp.
When they finally got another chance to acquire Lilja this week, they didn’t let history repeat itself. Lilja paid a visit to the Chiefs, and before it was over on Tuesday, he had put his name on a three-year contract worth $7.5 million.
Lilja, who played in high school at Shawnee Mission Northwest and in college at Kansas State, spent the last six seasons with the Colts. He started in all of those seasons except 2008, when he missed the entire year because of a knee injury.

Kansas City Chiefs news gathered in one place. Enjoy today's Arrowheadlines.
But that’s where the available players sit right now. There are a few players every day coming available; for instance, QB Chris Simms and S Deon Grant because available after they were released by the Broncos and Seahawks.
We’ll take a look at the best signings around the league on Wednesday. Here on Tuesday, we’ll take a look at the Chiefs roster moves since the start of the new league year, plus the day before it all began when they re-signed LB Mike Vrabel (above). Here’s my view on what the Chiefs have gotten done, in order or importance to the team in 2010:

"We have to find a way," La Russa likes to say.
La Russa took some of that from Parcells' philosophy. When Parcells' daughter married now-Kansas City Chiefs general manager Scott Pioli, the best man was Indians GM Mark Shapiro, then the club's farm director. At the rehearsal dinner, Parcells asked Shapiro about the Indians, and Shapiro began his response with an explanation of a rash of injuries that had hit the team.
"Son," Parcells interrupted, "Let me tell you something. Nobody [cares]. Just win."
In the receiving line, when Parcells reached Shapiro, he said, "Remember what I told you. Nobody [cares]. Just win."
And when they found themselves in adjoining stalls in the men's room at the reception, Parcells repeated, "Son ..."

Happy Monday. Here's today's daily dose of Kansas City Chiefs News. Slim pickings out there this morning.
Since their arrival a year ago, Scott Pioli and Todd Haley have been all about remaking the Chiefs in their own image.
Pioli and Haley had little use for players like Tony Gonzalez, Larry Johnson, Bernard Pollard, Tyler Thigpen, Tank Tyler and Turk McBride, all of whom were seen as building blocks by the previous coach, Herm Edwards.
But one group of Edwards’ players is crucial to the efforts to turn the Chiefs into winners. Edwards’ final draft class includes Glenn Dorsey, Branden Albert, Brandon Flowers, Jamaal Charles and Brandon Carr.
Five players drafted by Edwards will be crucial to Chiefs in 2010 from KC Star
The bad news for running back Thomas Jones: The Jets wanted him to take a pay cut after he rushed for more than 1,400 yards last season and when he declined to do so, they cut him. Now, he’s with the rebuilding Kansas City Chiefs instead of a team that made it to the A.F.C. Championship game last season. The good news: The Jets still like him so much they took out a full-page ad in the main section of Sunday’s Kansas City Star to say thanks.
The ad, on Page A11 of the paper, featured a huge picture of Jones in his Jets uniform carrying the football. The ad read:
"A person who embodies TOUGHNESS, DEDICATION and LEADERSHIP. Thanks TJ for three great seasons. Woody Johnson, Coach Rex Ryan, Mike Tannenbaum and the New York Jets."

Good morning. This morning's picture is inspired by the flooding we've had here over the last 24 hours. The rain has finally let up a bit here and the creek behind my apartment is back in it's banks. Pretty crazy last niight. What that really means is decent weather for the St. Patty's day parade here. I fear much Guinness will perish. Anyway, here's today's dose of Kansas City Chiefs news from across the internet.
Aware that I have no control over the ongoing roster turnover, my way of satisfying an off-season craving consists of spotting the positions that I’d like to see get repaired/improved/replaced. Since one of the greatest lessons that I have learned from football resides in the premise that you have to trust your eyes, I applied the same judgment in writing these lines. Therefore, in commemoration of the first week of this latest adventure, I’m dropping those seven specific facets that, with luck and ability, will be really taken care of by the start of the upcoming season. Or so I hope.Seven Step Drop: A Chiefs Off-Season Wish List from Bob Gretz.com
As the NFL Players Association announced a unanimous re-election of president Kevin Mawae today at their annual player representative meeting in Hawaii attended by over 100 players, the players union also elected several new executive committee members.
The NFLPA announced that Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Charlie Batch, Cleveland Browns linebacker Scott Fujita, free agent special-teams ace Sean Morey and Kansas City offensive guard Brian Waters were elected to the executive committee.
Between them, they have 15 years of experience as player reps.
