Should the Logo Have Stars?
I got the idea from a friend who noticed the logo font is very similar to the ny nets aba jerseys. What if the team included the stars? I think it push the logo over from simple and stylish to eyecatching. I'm not really sure the best way to link to the image but I've posted it in the comments below. Also, Net Income did mention that the actual logo may be slightly different from what's been leaked... could it be the stars?
Did Anyone Notice the Black and White Hats?
I'm not sure if anyone has a picture of it, but last night, the last time the Nets Dancers performed they were wearing black baseball caps with a large, bold, white "N" on them. The N looked similar in font to that used in the Barclays Center ads. I'm wondering if that was a nod to the new identity, and I wouldn't be surprised if Monday, when BK merchandise goes on sale, that hat is available. Can someone find a picture or a video from last night?
BK Nets Court Prediction
So the Nets have at least released two of the team's new colors heading into Brooklyn: black and white. I'm hoping there will be a third color, as the Spurs uniforms (much like their roster) has always bored me. However, a little while back, some columnist or blogger had mentioned that while they weren't crazy about the logo, they loved the Brooklyn court design, saying it was really different than anything else in the league.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and predict the court itself will be black, with white lines, and maybe a colored paint area. Home games would look sick with a black court and white jerseys.
I'll have a Linberger please

Odds for Nets to debut throwbacks @NY
As we all know, once the team was sold to Ratner, the organization started moving away from everything "New Jersey". Seeing as how the team's new market and fanbase is in New York, I noticed several subtle instances of the Nets trying to reach that market/pay homage to NJ. For example, before the red uniforms became our default away jerseys, the team would always wear the read alternate (which read "Nets" instead of "New Jersey") against the Knicks. Additionally, it was in New york that we wore our grey "New Jersey" alternates for the last time as well, I believe, as our blue away jerseys.
So I think it makes sense, with our throwbacks being the "New York" jerseys, that the team debuts them February 4th against the Knicks as an announcement of sorts that, "you guys aren't the only show in town anymore".
Nets unveil 35 years in NJ logo!
The Nets have designed a commemorative logo to celebrate the team's history in New Jersey. It's pretty cool looking, and I'm very appreciative that the marketing guys have decided to embrace this last season for the NJ fans' sake.
Here's hoping it shows up on the court (as a secondary logo), on the jerseys (as a patch) and on merchandise (get me a hat!!)

Wait!! Before we amnesty Outlaw, would it make more sense...
So obviously during the lockout the media harped on what we all already knew: Travis Outlaw is one of the worst contracts in the league. And I see a lot of "Well now that the season will begin, Outlaw is gone". But rather than immediately amnesty-ing #21 ASAP, would it make more sense to hold onto him? Couldn't his contract be used as a way to balance out a trade to say, Orlando? In which case we might be expected to take back Arenas, who we could then use the amnesty on?

Massive 7.2 Quake in Turkey Today, 1000 possibly killed
Extremely unfortunate, it's to be seen what implications this has on Deron Williams, his family, and the Nets.
NBA Fans: Lockout the League-Facebook Petition
A Facebook group has been started for the fans pledging to "Lockout the League". For any games that the NBA misses this season due to the lockout, "The Fans" will withhold from buying any NBA tickets, merchandise or memorabilia for the same amount of time once the season starts.
I thought this was an interesting idea, and I support it wholeheartedly. We are the paying customers and it never hurts to try. It gives the fans a voice in all this, which they deserve, as we're the ones who support the product. I'd urge anyone unhappy with the lockout situation to join and invite as many as you can.
If you don't think something like this can make a difference, remember social media has enabled oppressed nations to overthrow corrupt political systems. If it's powerful enough to do that, than drawing attention to the NBA fans during this period should be no problem.
Nets 2k12 Roster Ratings
I'll start off by saying I think 2K was wayyy off with some of their ratings this year. Lebron is the best player in the game, Dirk is an 85, Melo is better than Dwill, and JKidd is even with Gilbert Arenas. Having said that, here's the list of Nets players and their ratings that we know thus far:
Deron-90
Brook-76
Hump-70
Sasha-67
OutClause-66 (!!??)
Ammo-64
Farmar-63
GrahaMVP-57
Petro-52
These are all that's known thus far but honestly, Outlaw being rated better than Morrow and Farmar? And Brook should be in the low 80's at least--SJax is an 83!

This page shows Dwight in the various uniforms of teams he might be interested in. Looks like someone doesn't want him to get a look at himself in a Nets jersey...

Travis Outlaw, Starvin Marvin?
Anyone else reminded of Starvin Marvin from South Park?
BrooklynNets.com leads to Barclays Center, Site Markets BK Nets Heavily
Under the "Nets Basketball" tab, there's information about the "Nets All-Access Pass" which opens with: "Your BROOKLYN NETS season tickets will provide all of the exclusive benefits and privileges of the Nets All-Access Pass."
What the Knicks Should Do
So yeah, this pretty much goes against everything I stand for, but I've been thinking about all the problems NY is having. Obviously everyone knows that D'antoni's system is not the right fit, and the team needs time to get acquainted with each other. Melo and Stoudemire both work best in the post but what if you moved Melo to the 2? Put Jared Jeffries at the 3 (that's his preferred position according to him), and Turiaf at the 5. Now for the sake of argument, let's say those players are capable of understanding the Triangle Offense. Wouldn't that be the ideal situation for NY with their current roster? A smart, savvy point man in Chauncey, a high volume scorer in Melo, and a devastating post player in Stoudemire reminds me of Fish/Kobe/Pau to some extent.
Just so we all understand, I loathe the Knicks and hate suggesting ways for them to improve, but from a basketball standpoint, it's a fun issue to try and work out. Would love to get a Knicks fan's perspective on this.
Anywhere to Find a Swingman DWill Jersey before May?
Does anybody know where I might be able to find a swingman Deron jersey? Everywhere I look it's either unavailable, or only replicas/authentics are available. I've checked out NBA.com, njnets.com, sports authority, champs and pretty much everywhere else. I feel like I might have to wait awhile.
And because this has to be 75 words long, what are the chances that they would already be selling them at the The Rock? I would assume slim to none at this point.
Nets/Clippers Almost SOLD OUT--Who'da Thought?
So I'm coming home for spring break next week and I was looking to catch a game. So pumped about Deron, I couldn't care less who the opponent was. Then I saw the Clips on the 11th. I spoke to my ticket agent and set it up, and he said the game was practically a sell out (and that was a few days ago). If you'd asked ANYBODY one year ago what the odds were for a Nets-Clips sell out, they'd just laugh. Not that I'm surprised, Deron and Blake alone are worth the price of admission.
Anyway, let's make it another great one and get The Rock jumpin'! If you haven't bought tickets yet see what you can do. We need to make Nets Nation known.
NetsDaily Section at The Rock
Forget the Bud Lite Party Zone, we need a NetsDaily seating section at the Rock. Maybe we could all donate $X.00 to make it happen. Maybe the Nets could give out tickets to that section through NetsDaily.com somehow (NI that would be all you). I mean, we are the largest and most passionate percentage of the fanbase. If anybody should be getting free tickets it's us, and it would be cool to see the team connect with their fanbase this way. Thoughts?

EPIC Intro Idea
So it's pretty much unanimous that we need a new intro. No more hokey, "we're so happy to be in the NBA" dancing. Here's how we pull off the NEW Nets intro:
1) Need a great pump up song. Try "Victory" by Puffy ft. Biggie. Bonus: it has a loop from the Rocky movies:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uuEDUqoPCVA
2) Highlights of great players past: Dr. J, Buck Williams, Drazen, JKidd, KMart, VC. Start in black and white, and slowly let color seep in. Make sure to show us clowning the Knicks and Celtics.
3) Do something similar to the 08 intro, where you had the players getting ready in the locker room.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HoAa-oNfNvY&feature=related
Remember JKidd staring into the mirror? Gave me chills. Do the same thing but make it Deron with JKidd’s reflection. I want game faces, not Brook chuckling while he straightens his tie.
4) INCLUDE PROKHOROV. I want a message from our owner. End the intro with some epic music like “requiem for a dream” playing while he tells Nets fans “We will not settle. We will not be satisfied until we are the best”.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KSY4Yi2ypno
5) FIRE. It's always a crowd pleaser.
Nets ABA Throwback Jersey Petition Online NOW
We're starting a petition to have the Nets wear their ABA throwbacks this season. Join the cause!
Melo Says there will be "NO Meetings this weekend".
Craig Sager just interviewed "Coach" Melo at the Rookie-Sophomore game. When asked if he would meet with Proky and Dolan he responded "No meetings this weeked". He already met with Dolan, and everyone expects Proky to see him Saturday or Sunday so what gives? Is this Melo trying to be "safe" in his answers? Or is it a veiled shot at the Nets to not waster their time? Personally, I think Melo doesn't want the meeting because he's afraid he won't be able to say no, which goes against all the "advice" he seems to be getting around the league (and I'm sure on the pillow side of things back home).
Amare RIPPING Nets
Yea so you can basically find all his comments in the Twitter trade feed, but I thought I'd collect them so far:
On whether he thinks Melo would sign with the Nets: "I'd be very surprised. It's kind of hard to picture him in a Nets jersey.''
On why he feels that way: "He's from New York. That's where he's from'' (apparently Amare thinks Brooklyn is in Russia).
On playing the Nets in Newark: "When we played in New Jersey it was like a home game for us.. Most players would (prefer) the Knicks before New Jersey"
In general the media/other players are murdering us saying they'd sign in Denver before NJ, that they would "never" sign with the Nets.
It's this kind of arrogance (from Amare) that is the root of my hatred for the Knicks. They are so disillusioned with themselves after this past decade to think that they're this basketball hotbed.

Mikhail Prokhorov in "The Godfather"
Is this the most embarrassed you've been as a Nets fan?
We sold Dr. J to yield to territorial demands of the Knicks. Larry Brown left us to go coach Kansas mid-season. We selected Dennis Hopson in '87 over the likes of Pippen, Reggie, and KJ. "All Alone 33". Jayson Williams. Bruce Ratner. Every player Rod Thorn drafted between '02 and '09 sans Krstic and Lopez. The Mourning fiasco. The Migraine. 12 wins.
Somehow, I cannot think of a time I was more frustrated with and embarrassed by this franchise than right now. The 'Melo Drama has blatantly revealed the identity of our team, organization, ownership, and fanbase. Everything that is wrong with us has culminated in the past week or so. We're a team on the move, with an unfinished arena, and we're not even guaranteed a legitimate fanbase once the move is completed. We don't have the names to fill seats or sell jerseys. Everyone knows you can get Nets tickets for cents on the dollar.
Our ownership group has thus far failed to improve the team in anyway noticeable in the standings. As we're all aware, management is desperate get this deal done. We've submitted to every whim that Denver has had. We're willing to give it all up, because everyone from the coach to management to the marketing team to ownership knows this franchise will continue to struggle without a star. Our team has been playing like they are waiting for something to happen. I don't blame them, but the very product that is trying to be salvaged is being destroyed by this trade.
The team I fell in love with early this decade is long gone. I've accepted that. No longer are we a tough, defensive-minded squad. No longer are we a dominant franchise where players are committed to winning championships. No longer are we "the little engine that could" from the "other" side of the river. Heck, in two years we might not even be the Nets any more. It's been a long, hard fall, a downward spiral which is now getting out of control. Frankly, I'm embarrassed.

Email Chris Sheridan! Rag on MSG's Asbestos problem!
Just put in my two cents. Told him James Dolan might not be a cancer, but the arena sure is. After what he said about the Rock, he deserves the best you can give him.
Who do you hate more, the Knicks or the Celtics?
Our two biggest rivals. Personally I hate the Knicks more. Being from Jersey I can't stand all the "NY>NJ" nonsense in sports or otherwise. And our history with Kidd vs Marbury, the media being all over the Knicks even when we're clearly the better team, the whole "pay us cause it's our territory" , and then had to sell Dr. J doesn't help. I can't take Boston either, but the proximity of the Knicks and Nets is what puts that rivalry over the top for me.

Vote now and help our the Nets move on (we could really use the support). IMO, we win the pg, sf, and pf matchups.
