Jeremy Tyler
I don’t understand why the Bobcats would sell Jeremy Tyler for $2M. The kid has made mistakes in the past but is a physical freak with lottery size and athleticism. Wouldn’t it be better to send the kid to the D-League and see if he grows up? Isn’t the second round all about taking chances on potential? Even if there is only a 10% chance he grows up it appears to be worth the risk for a team that is clearly rebuilding for the next few years.
Generally I like the Bobcat’s draft and plan but this move baffled me. Curious what others think.
To Clinch #1
Week 15 was nearly perfect. When analyzing SoS relative to the Bengals, every game played thus far went the Panthers' way. Had the Bengals lost we could have still clinch SoS against them by tonight.
The reason Week 15 was only nearly perfect is that Denver won. We cannot catch Denver on SoS due to the fact we both play the NFC West and more specifically the Cardinals.
SoS Through the End of the Season
Everyone is wondering where we stand if the Panther’s beat the Cardinals and the Bengals lose to the Browns. After looking into it, this week will be most relevant to determining the relative SoS because half of the remaining relevant games (if you include last night’s game) occur this week.
In my analysis I look only at wins rather than computing percentages. Some of the percentage calculations at this point leave marginal differences that will be irrelevant once all games are played. If Bengals’ opponents have more wins than Panthers’ opponents (and they both finish 2-14) then we win the SoS battle. This keeps us from having to get into numerators and denominators.
Where we currently stand (included SD win last night): Panthers 123; Bengals 123 (Wins referenced herein are opponents wins)
If Panthers win and Bengals lose: Panthers 124; Bengals 126

Strength of Schedule Games of the Week: Week 15
Using the numbers posted earlier this week in the Charlotte Observer the strength of schedules (SoS) of the four teams in contention for the #1 pick going into week 15 are as follows:
Det: 109 wins
Cin: 110 wins
Car: 112 wins
Buf: 113 wins
(in the Observer article they show the current SoS not counting teams we have yet to play so I had to add their records in as we are going to have a hard time getting out of playing the rest of the season)

The Struggles of Panthers Edwards Not Unprecedented in Carolina
Longtime lurker first time poster.
After the Panthers’ loss to the Jets many people have jumped off the Edwards bandwagon as quickly as many hopped on when various local new organizations started the Edwards hype. After the draft, and due to their respective sizes, Edwards has been hyped to be the future Agent 89 as much as LaFell has been hyped to be the next Moose.
Post Jets game, many negative comments have been made about Edwards being a bust and the Panthers having made a mistake. There are also many comments discussing the fact that we won’t know the wisdom of the trade and pick of Edwards for some time. I tend to fall in the later category.
The Jets game certainly gives reason for concern but it is not unprecedented....learn why after the jump...
