And The Valley Shook Florida Game By the Numbers (Throw Out the Numbers)

Here are the numbers on the Florida game after this weekend.  Its important to note that Florida's offensive numbers are going to be completely misleading if Tebow cannot compete in the game.  Particularly Florida's offensive rushing statistics.  John Brantley is a traditional pocket passer and Florida's offense will have to find new ways to try to run the football.  Brantley would be making his first SEC start under the lights at Tiger Stadium.  John Brantley, Welcome to Death Valley.

What is clear in the numbers is that Florida's defensive front will be the most challenging LSU has faced all season.

And The Valley Shook Respect for Tebow and looking ahead

I have a tremendous amount of respect for Tebow even though I have made some jokes at his expense on the site.  I was seriously concerned about his health.  No reasonable fan would ever wish an injury on an opposing player.  Not really sure why he was even in the game at 31-7 and being so sick during the week. He is a great player and his play in the SEC Championship game last season was the best single game performance by a quarterback that I have ever witnessed.

With that being said, Tebow's status for the LSU game is being reported as questionable.

http://www.nola.com/lsu/index.ssf/2009/09/tim_tebow_released_from_hospit.html

What does that mean for LSU?  It means if LSU can pull out a win at Georgia this week, they will come home undefeated with a chance to play a vulnerable Florida team under the lights in Death Valley.  Pull out that game and LSU gets to the bye week undefeated and potentially ranked number 1 in the nation.  This scenario may seemed far fetched but it is possible, if the LSU fans don't run Les out of town before the Georgia game.  It all starts with this Georgia game this week.  The pivotal game of the season and potentially one of the biggest games of Les Miles tenure as head coach.

And The Valley Shook Chad Jones Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week

No voting necessary this week.  Chad Jones offensive and defensive player of the week.  Jones prevented LSU from getting cow belled.  Team needs alot of work, but it was a great win.  Offense really has a long way to go before next weeks game at Georgia or we could get embarrassed.  No more JP games please.  Defense really showed some character with that last stop to win the game.  Team is still 4-0 and has not played its best game yet.  Not so bad.

And The Valley Shook I have been reading a good book you might like Richard

Check it out.  Its a solid read. Real good information from a proven defensive coordinator that had produced many outstanding NFL players at the LB position.  I learned quite a bit from this book.  No doubt in my mind the LSU defense will be back at the top of the nation at the end of the season.  The aggressive style of defense Chavis will bring to LSU will excite fans and keep the golden era of LSU football alive and well for many years to come.  Great hire by Les and staff.
