Why No Trade (Draft Diary of the Week)

My final thoughts on decision not to trade Deng, Gordon or #1 pick away yet

I have been thinking about the fact that the Bulls did not make any trades and have honestly flipped back and forth on if they should. Funny thing is I have settled back on what I thought and posted before the season started. And this will be my final decision - the Bulls need to wait on any moves until they see where the 1st Rd pick from NY will be - and this will be my final decision.

I have to admit the weekend dime on ESPN.com reminded me of why I said Bulls needed to wait in the 1st place before the season began. We need to remember here that the Bulls still have a slight, even if small chance of landing a top 3 pick in a loaded draft. (after top 3 picks it goes by reg season order for those who don't remember draft rules)

If the Knicks don't make the playoffs then anything can happen in the lottery. Sure the odds might not be good, but its really a gamble the Bulls need to take. Bulls already have a tough playoff team now but even with Gasol they aren't guaranteed title contenders (Suns/Mavs still soo tough when healthy) so they decided that you don't blow up such a young team with so many assests. If Bulls get lucky and land a player like Oden (possible franchise player when his wrist is 100%) or Durant (seems to be a better McGrady) or maybe even JWright then they add stud piece to an already playoff team. Then with Ty / Thabo improvement to go along with the Core guys they can contend for title for years to come. Yes it may be longshot and there is no use in discussing it in length now, but I think that is why Pax did not blow up team or trade pick. Lastly even if pick is in 9-11 range it is still valuable and Bulls can still make moves to improve team for 08 and beyond

Simply - No gaurantee of championship in 07 so take the gamble on a star player for years to come

One thing I do want to stress is that NO team will be trading down out of top 2 picks so stop posting that nonsense.

According to this plus / minus rating system on NBA.com, Khryapa was best player yesterday. Guess its probably not too accurate of a system for 40 pt blowouts. Although with the Bulls depth hopefully their 2nd unit will outscore other teams 2nd units quite a bit and give Chicago a real advantage. With Bulls defense it will be tough for opponents to score so every little bit of offense will be major.

http://www.nba.com/statistics/lenovo/lenovo.jsp

From ESPN.com's review of Hornets (fantasy fix)

"Sleeper: Tyson Chandler ..If he can avoid the injury bug, Chandler will receive the most minutes he ever has....."

Didn't Bulls want to play Chandler more? I believe it was only his stamina and foul trouble which kept him from earning more mins - talking about when he was performing well of course. Not trying to bash on Chandler but I don't think its fair statement to say Bulls didn't give him oportunity to play when healthy.
