Fake Teams Sizemore for Liriano

Hey,

I am in a 14-team keeper H2H points league. I have just traded Grady Sizemore for Francisco Liriano. I think this is a big risk/reward for both teams making the trade, but I wanted to see what you guys thought of this deal.  My full roster listed below the jump. Keep in mind we have very small rosters to keep the player pool deeper and because most people just use their bench for starting pitchers.

Just another example of how serious concussions can be. I have seen too many people (not necessarily on this site) talk about Morneau sucking it up and getting back on the field. The more the serious effects of concussions get press the better in my opinion. Take your time to get well Justin and start picking out a new helmet with more protection for when you do come back (even if its next season).

Any interest in bringing Boof back, just to say Boof more often?

I don't know if it will happen, but I love that they are talking about it. I want to see this team make run at winning it all this year. Cliff Lee would be huge for the rest of the season and the playoff rotation. Thoughts?

Nice article about Kyle Gibson. I can't wait to see this guy pitch.

Clearly he is not happy with the way the Tribe have played so far this year.

The Twins realize they need to sign Joe soon. They've been in contact with Mauer's agent, Ron Shapiro, and there are indications the team hopes to have a new deal with Mauer by Christmas.

Twinkie Town Twins fans in NYC

I have read a couple of comments about being a lonely Twins fan in NY.  I was curious how many people on this site live in NYC.  I wish I would have thought about this earlier, but maybe next year we could try to find bar in the city to watch the big games.  It was has hard being at the bar watching game 163 and being the only one cheering for the Twins.  I was going nuts, basically running up and down the bar doing fists pumps like Joe Nathan after we doubled up Curtis Granderson.  Anyways, I was just curious the level of interest in finding a place where Twins fans can cheer loudly amongst other Twins fans.  Let me know your thoughts.

Twinkie Town Redmond motto for 09'

Below is a small excerpt from a 2006 post game recap against Detroit.

"Smell 'em" has become the team motto this season. Backup catcher Mike Redmond coined the phrase, saying they have to "smell those RBIs" when they see runners in scoring position in key situations. They playfully tap their noses when they come through, and there was plenty of nose-tapping on Friday night.

I have noticed in a couple of game threads small discussions about what this years team motto should be.  I wanted to give this topic a full discussion of it's own, since some humor might lift our spirits after losing a series to the Indians. Also, I have attached a photo of Nick Punto from that same post-game recap to add even more humor.  I guess there is two questions to answer here.

1. What should this year's Redmond saying be?

2. What should the caption read next to this Nick Punto Photo?

Nick Punto falls while fielding a short-hopper, but finishes the game 2-for-5 with a run scored. (AP)

The Tigers are making moves to make themselves better right now. Will the Twins follow suit? I hope the answer is, YES.

Also, MLB.com has live trade deadline coverage.

Twinkie Town Heath Bell available?

It turns out the Padres could possibly move there closer, Heath Bell. I do not know any of the financial details of contracts or what it would take to get him. If we could turn the ball over to Heath Bell in the 8th inning, I would feel a whole better about the bullpen.  I thought I would bring it up for discussion.  What would you be willing to give up to see him in a Twins uniform?

I have included the post that was in the ESPN MLB rumor page.

TRADES: Heath Bell on the move?

Heath Bell | Padres Now part of the rumor trade mill, Padres closer Heath Bell said there is no guarantee he will still be in San Diego by the end of next week.

"Probably, there is some interest in me," Bell told the San Diego Union Tribune. "I really guess it comes down to what someone thinks I'm worth. If the Padres could get a lot for me, I guess I'd be out of here."

While he is a closer in San Diego, Bell knows he could be a set-up man for a contending team. Is anyone interested?

Twinkie Town Twins' Gomez becomes new Web Gems leader

Carlos Gomez is leading the MLB in the Web Gem points by Baseball Tonight.  He has done this while not even playing everyday.  I would like to see him play more in the second half of the season.  Especially, if we played the White Sox every game.  He is hitting .360 or so against the White Sox in his career.

Also, Rene Tosoni was named MVP of the Futures Game.
