Madden '11 ratings
First of all.......THE SAINTS ARE THE HIGHEST RATED TEAM IN MADDEN!!!?!?!?!??!?!?
I guess this is fairly obvious and predictable since, as you may or may not know, they won the Super Bowl. It still threw me off a little bit. All those years playing with a low ranking team (fair enough) with talented, but grossly under rated player ratings (salt in the wound). Now I can play with my head held high, not afraid to take on the likes of the Colt or Steelers. Saints teams in Madden could always challenge any team, but now the tables have turned! Happy Day!
here is the link from your friends at Niners Nation...
oldie, but goodie on Brees
from our friends at "The Onion"
this breaks down drew's pros & cons
but seriously folks...i'm scared of 2 things with the vikings
1 - their running game, although not sharp lately, could beat us up
2 - their pass rush on drew's blind side...gonna need lots of TE help (will this change our gameplan?)
PS im not really scared, just excited. CANNOT WAIT ANOTHER WEEK!!!!! maybe Deuce can get just one snap?
Seattle has the loudest stadium in the NFL???
that's what Ken Whisenhunt alluded to when he was asked about preparing to play in the Superdome on this morning's "Mike & Mike" show (ESPN radio). the Cardinal's head coach thinks that playing against the Seahawks' "12th Man" every season is enough to get them ready for the insanity that is the SUPERDOME???
ESPN poll/love letter to Dave
Saints could use some love on the ESPN poll. They are asking the nation to rank the playoffs teams, and as of Monday morning the Saints are ranked number 4 of 8! I know there are a lot of dumb people out there, but this still kind of shocks me.
I kinda like it though. Even after the dominant season we have had, these last 3 games have almost brought us down to "sleeper" level (if such a thing can exist with a #1 team). What can be better than the Saints shocking the world AGAIN. 13-0 seemingly came out of no where. Now, we have to take care of the Cards, but the media buzz following the Vikings/Cowboys game will be the big story no matter what happens. In the AFC, the Jets are turning it on and demanding attention, but any combo of Jets or Chargers vs Colts will be a huge media story. Lets see if we can sneak our way into the big game.
Who cares what the nations thinks? I hope they win it all for the people of New Orleans! (and the select few odd ball fans out-of-state who have irrationally followed them loyaly since the days of Sam Mills) This is for us. I am sick of hearing people complain about how we dont get nation media coverage. And that Skipp Bailis doesn't respect us. And that no one will admit how good we are. WHO CARES! stop wasting your breath complaining over something that is so trivial and superficial! We will gain respect when we earn it...the only way any team really deserves respect...when we win the SUPER BOWL! 18-0 turned into a Super Bowl loss the Pats might not soon recover from. The Cards' amazing season and well played Super Bowl last year was erased by one drive and one amazing pass & catch between Big Ben and Santonio Holmes.
Whether we are winning flashy or ugly, with blowouts or come from behind squeakers, because of the offense or because of the defense...none of it matters. And it really doesn't matter what the media has to say about all of it. Thats why we have CSC. Dave gives the Saints the attention they deserve in our eyes. HE digs up the juicy nuggets that are too good to share with the entire nation. WE have Dave and the CSC all to ourselves! Enjoy it now, because when we win the big game, Dave will become a big media celebrity and forget about all us little people.
But i digress...if you want to go show your love for the Saints on the ESPN poll, here is the link. Or maybe we wont...maybe we should just show our love to Dave and thank him for the remarkable work he does day-in and day-out (even on his honeymoon). 2010 is gonna be a great year. We have the Saints AND we have Dave

Who do the Saints want to play?
New Orleans No. 1 seed in NFC (never thought i would say that), will host Philadelphia, Green Bay or Arizona
So who scares you?
Who will have the most momentum?
Who has a passing game that cannot be stopped?
Our QB is better than the rest in the NFC...
We have the most depth at WR...
BUTT, defense and a running game wins championships, right?
Can Brees's arm prove that age old adage false?
PHILLY
CONS: has speed and solid DEF
PRO: McNabb always chokes at some point in the playoffs
GREEN BAY
CONS: great WRs, solid running game, solid DEF, great QB
PRO: O-line is swiss cheese
ARIZONA
CONS: great WRs, solid running game, solid DEF, experienced QB
PRO: might have injury concerns
PT in action today!
according to john clayton of espn, PT will be active today:
11:01 a.m. ET -- Pierre Thomas should play -- ESPN's John Clayton reports that Pierre Thomas (knee, questionable) is likely to be active, though he'll be the third running back in the http://sports.espn.go.com/fantasy/football/ffl/story?id=4484989 order behind both Mike Bell and Reggie Bush. Fantasy owners should prepare accordingly expecting a limited number of snaps, though this diminishes Bell's appeal.
check out the link for all your injury questions this week, sports fans
FANTASY HELP NEEDED
brees is my keeper, and i dont like the idea of having too many players from one offense. but it seems inevitable that either colston, PT, bush, of shockey are gonna fall into my lap and im just not strong enough to say no to all of them.
colston is one of my favorite receivers, but brees spreads the ball so much...and i can see myself picking up meachem in a later round. PT is my boy, but he will be sharing carries, BUT he would hopefully get the bulk of the goal line carries. bush is a fantasy superstar, but might be overrated and only available in the possibly too early rounds. and shockey is always injured.
La'Roi Glover announces retirement???
check out The Pic article. 1st let me just say that i love, love, loved mr glover when he was a saint. 17 sacks in 2000by a DT?? will the saints EVER see numbers like that again from a DE, let alone a DT???? if big willy or grant had half the heart of la'roi, you would think they could put up 20 sacks each.
i dont know if im more surprised A) that he didnt retire like 3 years ago or, B) that he played "in all 16 regular season games in each of his final 11 seasons." pretty crazy! and crazy is a great adjective for this supercharged football warrior (war paint and all).
i havent looked at the full list of all-time saint DTs, but for my money, #97 la'roi glover would be playing in front of #51 sam mills on the NYSaint all-time team
too many teams in the NL Central...
maybe its just cause i like the new (by new i mean created in my head since the trade) rivalry between ATL and PIT. or maybe its just cause its weird seeing 6 teams in the NL Central. either way...here is my proposal. let me know what you think.
1 - move PIT to the NL East
2 - move WAS to the AL Central
3 - move MIN & KC to the AL West
4 - move TEX to the AL Central
i know no one wants to make this big of a restructuring and there are a lot more important pertinent things to be talking about...BUTT, it would even out the divisions, make them slightly more true to their regional names (not by much though), and i like it when ATL can have a new rival.

#51 Sam Mills
5 Pro Bowls in the NFL (after proving himself and helping the Stars win 2 league titles in the USFL under coach Jim Mora)
3 time NFL All-Pro team
started 173 of 181 games in the NFL (1,319 tackles, 20.5 sacks, 11 interceptions, 4 TDs)
Sam Mills was the classic case of "you're too small to play in the NFL." here is a quote from sam's high school coach that was published in Sports Illustrated:
"No scout, no coach at a big college or in the pros wants to take a chance on a linebacker who is five-nine. If the kid doesn't pan out, the guy's job is on the line. Somebody above him is going to say 'Who got me this five-nine linebacker?' Or the head coach will look at some film where his team gets beat on a pass and say 'What, we couldn't find a six-two linebacker?' The kid's gone, and the guy who found him is gone too."

Another linebacker?
The Rams just released Pisa Tinoisamoa, "a six-year veteran who led the team with 135 tackles in 2008. He was a second-round draft choice, the 43rd overall selection in the 2002 draft. That season, he had 121 tackles to lead the team." -AP via Yahoo! Sports.
Sounds like he can play. Maybe there is a mystery injury? Maybe character issues? Maybe the Rams are just awful and even Martin Gramatica could have led their team in tackles?
Bringing him to training camp could increase the level of competition, and maybe we even end up with a surprise 3rd starting LB (or a strong 4th man to rotate in/take over for Dan Morgan when he goes down)
Henderson, Moore, Arrington, and Copper...
if you are the GM and can only keep two, who do you cut and why? (hypothetical...might keep all but one)
i say keep henderson for his speed and experience (not his hands)...
and keep moore as a change of pace, pesky slot receiver. i like him more than patten.
cut copper and arrington...
i love copper. i think he is a great role player/special teams guy. dependable #5 wr, good hands/size, but little upside.
i love arrington. lots of upside potential. very very talented. would have taken him over moore, but it looks like his injury might keep him off the squad. wish i could keep all of them...
BUT
colston, meachem, patten, henderson, moore looks pretty good!
what do you guys think?
