La'Roi Glover announces retirement???

check out The Pic article. 1st let me just say that i love, love, loved mr glover when he was a saint. 17 sacks in 2000by a DT?? will the saints EVER see numbers like that again from a DE, let alone a DT???? if big willy or grant had half the heart of la'roi, you would think they could put up 20 sacks each.

i dont know if im more surprised A) that he didnt retire like 3 years ago or, B) that he played "in all 16 regular season games in each of his final 11 seasons." pretty crazy! and crazy is a great adjective for this supercharged football warrior (war paint and all).

i havent looked at the full list of all-time saint DTs, but for my money, #97 la'roi glover would be playing in front of #51 sam mills on the NYSaint all-time team

too many teams in the NL Central...

maybe its just cause i like the new (by new i mean created in my head since the trade) rivalry between ATL and PIT. or maybe its just cause its weird seeing 6 teams in the NL Central. either way...here is my proposal. let me know what you think.

1 - move PIT to the NL East

2 - move WAS to the AL Central

3 - move MIN & KC to the AL West

4 - move TEX to the AL Central

i know no one wants to make this big of a restructuring and there are a lot more important pertinent things to be talking about...BUTT, it would even out the divisions, make them slightly more true to their regional names (not by much though), and i like it when ATL can have a new rival.

this would give us:

NL East - ATL NYM PHI FLA PIT

AL Central - DET CWS CLE TEX WAS

AL West - LAD OAK SEA MIN KC

started 173 of 181 games in the NFL (1,319 tackles, 20.5 sacks, 11 interceptions, 4 TDs)

Sam Mills was the classic case of "you're too small to play in the NFL." here is a quote from sam's high school coach that was published in Sports Illustrated:

"No scout, no coach at a big college or in the pros wants to take a chance on a linebacker who is five-nine. If the kid doesn't pan out, the guy's job is on the line. Somebody above him is going to say 'Who got me this five-nine linebacker?' Or the head coach will look at some film where his team gets beat on a pass and say 'What, we couldn't find a six-two linebacker?' The kid's gone, and the guy who found him is gone too."

5'9" is not very appealing to head coaches for an inside LB, even in the USFL. On the Stars, Jim Mora did not want to play him. But assistant coaches told Mora day after day that Mills was the smartest, hardest working player on the field at every single practice. bald since childhood, born with poor eye-sight, weighing in around 230, bench pressing 400, sam made up for the inches (and follicles) he lacked with strength and heart. sam inspired everyone around the league, from the players he bruised and jacked-up week after week to the men he mentored as a player/coach.

sam mills battled cancer for 2 years, but was always there for the people who depended on him. he worked at a car dealership in the off-season to ensure his family was taken care of even if he lost his coaching job. he never missed a game, scheduling chemotherapy on off-days.

CALLING OUT ALL YOU SAINT FANS...not only do i want to see sam mills as our #1 CSC all-time inside LB...i want to officially nominate him as our all-time captain.

everyone has something to learn from sam mills. one of my favorite quotes from sam:

"You have your good days and your bad days. I am just glad I am having days, you know?"

the GOLDEN anniversary of his birth, Sam Mills would have been 50 today. happy birthday BIG guy!

Another linebacker?

The Rams just released Pisa Tinoisamoa, "a six-year veteran who led the team with 135 tackles in 2008. He was a second-round draft choice, the 43rd overall selection in the 2002 draft. That season, he had 121 tackles to lead the team." -AP via Yahoo! Sports.

Sounds like he can play. Maybe there is a mystery injury? Maybe character issues? Maybe the Rams are just awful and even Martin Gramatica could have led their team in tackles?

Bringing him to training camp could increase the level of competition, and maybe we even end up with a surprise 3rd starting LB (or a strong 4th man to rotate in/take over for Dan Morgan when he goes down)

Henderson, Moore, Arrington, and Copper...

if you are the GM and can only keep two, who do you cut and why? (hypothetical...might keep all but one)

i say keep henderson for his speed and experience (not his hands)...

and keep moore as a change of pace, pesky slot receiver. i like him more than patten.

cut copper and arrington...

i love copper. i think he is a great role player/special teams guy. dependable #5 wr, good hands/size, but little upside.

i love arrington. lots of upside potential. very very talented. would have taken him over moore, but it looks like his injury might keep him off the squad. wish i could keep all of them...

BUT

colston, meachem, patten, henderson, moore looks pretty good!

what do you guys think?
