Pinstripe Alley The Problem With Baseball Umpires

We've seen a lot of terrible calls during this post season.  Really it's nothing new, we see them a lot during the regular season as well.

Whether or not we get instant replay is one dicsussion that comes up frequently.  And I don't intend for this to go there as it's covered elsewhere I'm sure.

What I've noticed is that no matter how bad the call, pro baseball umpires seem to almost never overturn themselves.  Stubborn to the point of being complete boobs.

Just why is that and how do we fix it?

In the case of the rally killing DP in Thursday's game, all the umpires had to do was look at the ball and see the scuff mark from where it hit the playing field.  No instant replay needed.  Instead they met for their little coffee klatch, did their chatty kathy routine and agreed with one another, then continued the game.  So stubborn in fact that I believe they even announced they saw a replay that shows the call was correct.

Just a thought
