Nate Parham is a long time NBA fan whose newfound interest in women's basketball led him to managing SBN's Swish Appeal, which covers the WNBA and women's college basketball around the nation. In addition to contributing to Swish Appeal and Golden State of Mind, he has been a women's basketball contributor for the Capital One Cup and espnW.

Nate has covered the WNBA's Seattle Storm as well as the Seattle University Redhawks and Washington Huskies men's and women's basketball teams. Since returning to the Bay Area, he has wandered around covering things from NBA summer league to Pac-12 and WCC women's basketball.

As a Bay Area native, he is unfortunately cursed with a love for the Golden State Warriors, which is only partially offset by the resurgence of the San Francisco 49ers.

Indy goes cold down the stretch in 76-68 loss to Atlanta

Michael Pointer of the Indianapolis Star summed this one up nicely in pointing out that the Indiana Fever went scoreless for nearly four minutes to finish a 76-68 loss to the visiting Atlanta Dream. The cold finish to the game capped a fourth quarter in which the Fever shot just 28.6%.

Rumor: LeBron is part of Warriors' motivation to pursue Kevin Love?

...I think the Warriors are very motivated to get Kevin Love in part I think not just because he’s an upgrade over David Lee, but in part because I think that now that you can have a Steph Curry and you have a Kevin Love, I think they feel at that point that they could be credible suitors for LeBron James.

From ESPN’s Chad Ford: Warriors want Kevin Love so they can make ‘compelling case’ for LeBron James by Diamond Leung of the Bay Area News Group.

Now they're just toying with us...

Ford also suggests that it's Harrison Barnes - not Klay Thompson - holding up the deal at this point, as tweeted previously by Jerry Zgoda,

Barnes' trade value: A SBN blogger experiment

Although the real Warriors don't have a pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, GSoM traded into SB Nation's blogger mock draft and ended up with UCLA's Jordan Adams. The cost: Harrison Barnes. The following is an explanation of how we arrived at that decision.

Rumor: Kevin Love deal reportedly "dead"

Reports out of the Bay Area and Boston suggest that the Kevin Love deal is dead...but that doesn't mean that it is.

Warriors split about trading Klay Thompson for Kevin Love

After it appeared that the Warriors were prepared to part with Thompson in a deal to land Minnesota's Love, sources told that Hall of Fame consultant Jerry West and new Warriors coach Steve Kerr have voiced opposition to surrendering both Thompson and a future first-round pick to the Timberwolves along with former All-Star forward David Lee for Love and Wolves guard Kevin Martin.

The Klay Thompson conundrum: Is he worth the max?

Eddie Maisonet of SB Nation wrote an article that offered a rather harsh evaluation of Thompson's value to the team, but the key consideration related to a potential deal for Kevin Love is whether he's worth the max contract he reportedly wants.

The Sparks' 87-77 win over the Shock was neither as close as the final score nor as easy as they made it look in the third quarter.

Mercury vs. Lynx final score: Brittney Griner had career night in 92-79 Phoenix win

It's hard to overshadow a 36-point performance by Maya Moore, but as Brittney Griner continues to grow as a player her career-highs of 27 points, 18 rebounds (including a career-high 5 offensive rebounds) really stood out in this game. She was both efficient and dominant; although she was only credited with 2 blocks there's little question that her presence in the middle had a defensive impact.

Diana Taurasi had a nice game herself with 22 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 assists.

Storm vs. Sky final score: Seattle hangs on to beat Chicago, 80-76

The Sky (5-4) used every available player on the bench to make up for the loss of Delle Donne and Breland, but couldn't find a working combination until late in the fourth quarter when they cut the deficit to four points with less than three minutes remaining. Still, the Storm (6-4) fought past a few turnovers to cling to a lead.

From Elena Delle Donne, Jessica Breland out in Sky loss by Blake Schuster of the Chicago Tribune

With the Sky playing without an entire frontcourt rotation - Jessica Breland and Elena Delle Donne joined Sylvia Fowles in street clothes tonight - the Storm were able to get a second consecutive win tonight. The final box score doesn't really tell the full story of this game, which was a tale of two halves: despite the Storm being outshot, outrebounded, and outscored in the post, they established a big enough lead in the first half (12 points) to get the road win.
