Brookbank and Parros might be too.

Ryan is a wild card that may be a decent trading chip to bring over some much needed defense and depth.

Anaheim Calling Anaheim Calling Fantasy Hockey Report (Pt.2)

THE COMMISH:

Many of you will be happy to know that today's version of the report is not nearly as lengthy as the previous. Once again, I hope Earl Sleek doesn't mind me using his format! Let's get right to it.

AC H2H:

Platypuslighting (1st) vs. OC Wolverines (6th)

Platypuslighting wins a deceiver 8-1!

MVP: Jason Spezza has a huge week for Platypuslighting with three goals, one assist, four PIM, and fifteen shots.

LVP: Andrew Ladd had a miniscule two shots on the week and did nothing else to help OC Wolverines.

This matchup was a huge deceiver because every category was so close. The numbers for each team were almost identical, but Platypuslighting found a way to barely edge OC Wolverines in numerous categories.

 ***

Kings of Bedside (2nd) vs. Hockey Heros (8th)

Tied for the first official tie, this match-up was a wash at 4-4!

MVP: Nikolai Khabibulin continues the trend of elite net-minders playing out of their minds as he put up three wins on the week. He also had 1.67 GAA and .951 SV% for Kings of Bedside.

LVP: Patrik Elias had three shots and was goose eggs on everything else for Hockey Heros.

Kings of Bedside got the sweep for goalies and Hockey Heros lost in only one category (PPP) for the skaters as this match-up was even-steven.

Anaheim Calling Anaheim Calling Fantasy Hockey Report (Pt. 1)

Giant spaghetti monster Pekka Rinne - Fantasy stud and nightmare for the Ducks

THE COMMISH:

I’ve decided to borrow Earl Sleek’s approach of bringing you the Anaheim Calling Fantasy Hockey Report. Since we have four leagues, I'll be reporting on the Keeper League and H2H Expansion League today. The other two leagues will be reported on later this week.

AC Keeper:

Cologne Hockey Frogs (1st) vs. SLODucks (5th)

SLODucks wins 10-2!

MVP:  Marc-Andre Fleury earned two wins (including a shut-out) and had 0.96 GAA and .962 SV% on the week.

LVP: Brett Connolly with goose eggs across the board with the exception of one shot and one hit for the week.

Goalies for both teams had decent weeks, but SLODucks’ skaters made the difference by going 6-2-1.

***

Natesaduck (2nd) vs. Wisco Badgers (8th)

Natesaduck wins 12-0!

MVP: Brad Boyes with two goals and three assists on the week contributed significantly on the offensive for the skaters on Natesaduck.

LVP: Thomas Vokun posted 3.81 GAA and .861 SV% for Wisco Badgers. Seems to me like a freak week. Gotta think he’ll pick it up next week.

It was a pretty decisive week for the skaters, however it could have easily gone either way with the goalie match-ups.

Anaheim Calling AC's Fantasy Draft Recap

I'd rather play for Jen, not Nate.

MR. COMMISSIONER:

Greetings fantasy hockey fanatics! We had a tremendous turn-out on draft day. Let's get caught up on everything that went down last Sunday.

First up, the twenty-team deep Head-to-Head Keepers League. This draft was by far the most challenging for me. Team Need More Boyntons was fortunate enough to have the first pick and went with Stephen Stamkos (a safe and wise choice). Unlike many fantasy drafts, goalies were being drafted early and often. It got to the point where I had to take James Reimer in the fifth round. Also taken in the fifth round were Teemu Selanne (by Team Dynasty H.C.) and immediately after Cam Fowler by Jen (Team Light Treason), of course. Having drafted with Jen before, I really shouldn't have been surprised at some of her picks as her draft strategy is, well, unorthodox. To be honest, I was dumbfounded at quite a few of them. All in all, this was probably the most competitive draft of the day. There was a lot of banter going back and forth as well as some odd draft choices that will be intriguing to watch the rest of the year.

Anaheim Calling AC Fantasy Hockey Drafts are TONIGHT

MR. COMMISSIONER:

Hello everyone!

I just wanted to remind everyone that signed up for any of the four official Anaheim Calling fantasy hockey leagues that the drafts are TONIGHT. Keep in mind that all drafts are live. If you can't make it, you need to modify your pre-draft rankings to avoid any sub-par auto-picks the computer might give you.

I also wanted to take this opportunity to gauge any interest there might be in starting a Rotisserie keeper league. I've received a couple requests, but I would like to see if there is more interest before I commit to managing another league. If you missed your opportunity to join one of the other leagues or if you just think this is something you might be interested in, let me know in the comments!

If you have any inexperience in drafts or if you just want to get some practice in before tonight's drafts, you can utilize the mock drafts that Yahoo! has provided on their fantasy website. Mock drafts are a great way to get a general idea on who will be available at any given draft position.

I hope everybody is as excited as I am for this year. Let the banter begin!

[Editor's Note: For any draft coverage, make sure you check out our buddies at Dobber Hockey and Fantasy Hockey scouts.]

Anaheim Calling Tryout Nate

"A Bid Farewell"

Looking back at the season that was, the Anaheim Ducks gave us a thrilling ride.

As frustrating as they sometimes were to watch this year, this team showed a great deal of heart. All the hardships that were overcome: the mental and physical anguish that is entailed over and 82 game season; the disappointing losses and epic victories; the controversial officiating and downright inexcusable inconsistencies; the everlasting fantastical memories of an impossible 40-year-old who defies the natural laws of what a mere mortal man has the ability to pull off; it all came crashing down on our hearts on Easter Sunday.

There was no tense final moment to be had; no incredible finish. When the clock wound down on Anaheim's season, we were in disbelief that it was the end. No more sacrifice; no more hope; no more adversity; no more fond memories of the improbable run; just hollow. There was nothing left to give. They left it all on the ice.

Thank you, Anaheim Ducks, for an extraordinary season.

The relationship between the two teams seems to be strained. The back and forth between McNab and Dolgon is interesting to say the least.

Anaheim Calling Official AC Fantasy Hockey League

In last night's gameday thread for our duckling's first game of the tourney I mentioned creating an official AC fantasy hockey league and got a moderate response. If anyone is interested I'm willing to create a leage (or leagues) for all of us to follow for this season on Yahoo.

Anaheim Calling Be a Coach

So I know the offseason isn't over, but I never can help but view what the team would look like on the ice today. There's still some work to do (ie Teemu, Ryan, Kariya?, defense) but if the season started tomorrow what would the line-up look like?

Anaheim Calling Top 10 Centers?

Just saw this list of top 10 centers in the NHL. Now, I know I can be a homer sometimes, but I really try to look past my love for this team and take on an objective point of view. But seeing that this is an interactive site, I'd like to get your opinions as well. That's why I made this poll for everyone.

Anaheim Calling Teemu for 2 years?

According to Hockey Insider, sources say "Teemu Selanne discussing 2 year deal with Ducks". If this happens, it will arguably be the biggest deal this offseason.

Anaheim Calling What's the Point of Next Season?

No, this is not a venting thread on how the Ducks have become a non-playoff team and haven't gotten any better. I think it's more of an encouragement post about the Ducks and their future in the coming seasons.

As it stands, (and let's be honest here) the Ducks would be lucky to make the playoffs this year with the current direction the team has taken. You can call it a brief re-tooling period if you like, but I'm getting the sense that Murph and co. have taken the team in a direction that will make the team competitive for years to come. Obviously this is not one of those years.

Anaheim Calling Offseason Updates

I haven't had much to do today and it appears our fellow posters have abandoned us for a while, so I'm taking up the liberty to update everyone on a couple moves that were made today.

Anaheim Calling Be A GM

It seems incredibly dead around here the past few days so I thought I'd try to mix it up. I've heard from a few people that Scott, Koivu, and Teemu are returning next year. Given this info, who do you think Murray should sign and what do you think the line-up will look on opening day?

Here's what I got:

Lupul-Getz-Perry
Blake-Koivu-Teemu
Ryan-Bonino-Sexton
Belesky/Brown-Marchant/Chipchura-Bodie/McCue

Niedermayer-Volchenkov
Visnovsky-Brookbank
Sbisa-Clark
