The Patriots' 4th & 2
If there was any doubt at all about ESPN's north eastern bias they removed it today.
So I was watching the game and of course like everyone else I couldn't believe what I was seeing. The Pats on their own 28 were going for it on 4 & 2. All I could think about when they were lining up was New England's smug arrogance has no end. There was no defending this decision, so I thought. Then I watched ESPN today.
I wonder how long people stood up and calculated numbers to try to defend "Bill the Genius" decision to go for it. I guess they got to have some poeple to disagree so they can have some discussion to pass air time, but come on. You can throw out all kinds of percentages/numbers all you want to make it say what you want. Common sense has to take over sometime.
Then they want to use well Belichick has "Tom Brady as his QB". I don't care you if you have the greatest offense in NFL history. Here is some numbers with common sense for ya - 4TH DOWN + YOUR OWN 28 + LESS THAN 2 MINUTES + UP BY 6. Lets do the math, Cam Cameron could add that up to YOU PUNT.
It's really sad they had to think that there was some great thinking behind Belichick's decision. There is nothing behind that way of thinking but a pompus, arrogant, ass who got what he deserved in the post game conference. I loved it. Did you all see him up on that stage, moving, looking all around? He knew his arrogance bit him in the @ss.
What else ESPN is failing to bring up in thier shameless, and i do mean they are sparing no shame in defense of their "god", is that the Pats defense really wasn't playinig all that bad. They made the Colts punt like 6 times in the 1st half. The first time thats been done in years. Not to mention Peyton wasn't having a great game by his standards. He threw 2 INTs, one EARLIER IN THAT 4TH QUATER. But if you give Peyton less than 30 yards, at home, with a little under 2 minutes, your gonna lose.
I'm sorry, I had to blow off some steam on this. I know its not all of ESPN, but I was totally shocked at how many of them actually tried to justify that play call.
Bottom Line:
I don't care if you are a rookie head coach or a head coach with 3 Super Bowl rings, when its 4th down deep inside your territory with the lead, especially at the end of the game, you PUNT. It doesn't matter how much a bias sports news channel tries to spin it, the rest of the counrty (probably world) knows you are a complete imbecile, or a pompus @ss if you don't.

Trades? Trade Rumors? Please post here.
Do me a favor peeps. Today is the trade deadline, and there might me some trades and rumors going around. Could you please post if you here anything so I/eveyone can easily keep up. This is one I heard:
The Dolphins, according to several rumors, will deal Ginn Jr. to either Baltimore or Kansas City. Pro Football Weekly says:
One player who might pique [Baltimore's] interest is former first-round pick Ted Ginn Jr., who has struggled in his development as a receiver and returner in Miami.
Ginn Jr. has not received the love he deserves in Miami. Sure, he has dropped some catchable balls, but he has also made some big plays.
Makes sense, Parcells son in law is in KC. Could Ginn be in a package for Bowe? Makes sense in Baltimore too. Since Cam Cam in OC. Rumor also has it, that Cam convinced Ravens GM to sign the Ginn family, and now they want Teddy too. I'll keep you posted.
Thanks in advance.

Just reading the comments under one of Matty's latest articles. Fine work Matty, fine work . While reading I saw a post that Pennington, after 1 season, was a top 5 or top 10 favorite Dolphin. I have listed 15 others that I would put ahead of Pennington. Yes, he doesn't even make my top 15, maybe not top 20 for these came off just the top of my head. They are as follows:
1) Dan Marino
2) Ronnie Brown
3) Jason Taylor
4) Zach Thomas
5) Larry Csonka
6) Mark Duper
7) Bob Griese
8) Ricky Williams
9) Larry Little
10) OJ McDuffie
11) Mercury Morris
12) Sam Madison
13) Patrick Sutain
14) Richmond Webb
15) Reggie Roby
These are random order (except Marino). No disrespect to any other Dolphins greats. Upon request, I'd like to thank joel311 and Matty I for the inspiration for this post.-)

Crowder's response to Pace
I'm sure you all heard it, but I think it's worth posting.
"They want to say gimmick, gimmick this. We've won games with the Wildcat. I'll win a game with a gimmick...Hell, they ran two fake punts. If you want to say gimmick, those are real a gimmick. The Wildcat is an offensive formation [we've] been running for two years. They've got thousands of plays on film about it. Go stop it and shut up about all that junk talking....They ain't gonna give us no credit. We'll see them in three weeks. We have to play them again, so the hell with them."
I love it. He's right. They are talking about Gimmicks and running 2 fake punts. LOL.
"The hell with them."
RIGHT!

Alright, Tell me why Pennington is so great and Henne will stink it up
You know, all I hear is how great Pennington is. What he has done. How he is all everything.. How Henne sucks. How if we bring in Henne we are throwing away the season. I've said it in many comments, but decided to sum it up in one Fanpost. Here it is.
First thing first. We are a rebuilding team. Does anyone understand what rebuilding means? If not here it is:
tr.v., -built (-bĭlt'), -build·ing, -builds.
- To build again.
- To make extensive structural repairs on.
- To remodel or make extensive changes in: tried to rebuild society.
Not patchwork. Patches is what the Jets did last year bringing in all those overpriced FAs. Built to win now and cap hell later. If your rebuilding, your tearing everything down and starting from scratch. Thats what we've done. To be honest, thats what needed to be done for YEARS.
Every postion needed to be upgraded after that 1-15 team. Out with the old, in with new. We got Parcells, for hopefully 4 years to REBUILD not only our team, but our entire franchise. Everyone has to answer for thier work. Ireland, Sparno, ALL the players, even the waterboy.
I remember when the Steelers were forced to put in Roethlisberger, some players thought they couldn't win and perferred a veteran. I dare to say that Big Ben broke the mold on how to will with a rookie QB. The Steelers showed that just because a guy is a rookie, the season is not lost. Anyone know what Roethlisberger's rookie record was? Anyone? Anyone? How bout 13-0, 14-1 including playoffs.
Before his rookie year how many rookie QBs came in and had succes? How many have come in since? Flacco, Ryan, Sanchez, and others have come in to show that you can win with rookies. Its not throwing in the season if you have a good coaching staff, running game, and defense. If you have a bad organization like Oakland and Detroit, well then, thats another story. But I dare to say that unlike previous years, we now have a coaching staff that knows how to call a game with a young QB in there. One that gives us a chance to win and not forfiet the season.
Now to Pennington. First let me give hime his props. Pennington is a fine QB, nice leader, and a total benefit to have on the team. But that does not mean he benefits the team most by starting at QB. I heard that he single handedly took us to the playoffs last year. We can't win without him. Might as well throw in the season by startin Henne. I see this as a blinded loyatly to a man, and simply people that are afraid of the unknown.
Let me lay down some facts to all the Pennington lovers, and your not gonna like it. Pennington did not in anyway single handedly do ANYTHING for us. Or took us ANYWHERE. If he was so great, why were we 0-2 and having to bring in the WC formation, and even with Brady out, we DO NOT win the NE game without Ronnie's 5 TDs. Hell we were 2-4 before Sparno got our defense and o-line together good enough to keep us in games to allow Pennington and the rest of the offense to muster up drives at the end of the games against the weakest schedule in the NFL.
I said this before and I'll tell ya again, in order the reason for our turnaround last year:
1) Bill Parcells
2) Ireland, Sparno, coaching staff
3) A bend, but don't break defense
4) Improved O-line play
5) Wildcat formation
6) Running game
7) Pennington
All I hear is Pennington this, Pennington that, but no props to any other part of the team when we talk about last year's success. What do we lose if we take Pennington out? Are we scoring 24+ a game? Is he making so much of a diiference that he cannot be replaced? What is he doing that rookie QBs weren't doing last year?
So here is it. Tell me why are we throwing in the season if we pull Pennington and start Henne. Why is the season lost if we pull a weak arm qb, for a stronger arm qb who had a chance to sit and watch for a season. We've seen you can win with rookie QBs, now we got one that has sit a year. Why does Pro-Penne people say everyone can do it except us?
We are a rebuilding team, and every position needs to be addressed.
FYI I started typing this before last nights game, and the Colts game had nothing to do with this Post.
I post because I care.

Vote Tony Sparano - Motorola Coach of the Year
We all know that Tony got the shaft earlier, now is our chance to get him an award he rightfully deserves, coach of the year.
On NFL.com they are having the fans vote for the Motorola Coach of the Year. Lets all lend our support to the man that rightfully deserves the award. Ya know. The guy who coached a 11 game win season in his first year. Coached the franchise to 10 more wins than they had last year. Goes out and thanks fans for coming out and supporting the Dolphins. And is a all around class act.
Lets show we appreciate him as much as he does us.

Pennington Lovefest...I'm All for Henne..Bring it on...Posted Jan 2, 2009 1:57 PM EST
This has gotten me stirred a little bit. In a Previous fanpost by Phinsguy99 (link http://www.thephinsider.com/2009/1/1/707031/have-we-signed-an-extensio ) We we're having a discussion on Pennington and Henne.
The question is asked if we signed Pennington to an extension. To which I rose to Henne's defense. Simply put, don't fall in love with Pennington like the Browns did with Anderson last year and lock up alot of money because of this one good year.
Like I posted:
The Jets got rid of Pennington for a reason. Remember he got a come back player of the year with the Jets. Don’t get me wrong, I think Pennington is a fine QB. I love the job he did, but I’m all for the future.
Some peeps think that Henne was the best QB prospect coming out last year, ahead of the likes of Ryan and Flacco. Now he has been able to sit a year. I have no problems whatsoever if the Dolphins start floundering next year to throw Henne in without any hesitation.
Please correct me if I’m wrong but, I think the Cincinnati Bengals had a similar delemma a few years ago. Remember when they first got Marvin Lewis.
They drafted Carson Palmer, but Jon Kitna was thier QB. If I’m remembering correctly Kitna won the comeback player of the year when he started Carson’s entire rookie season. But the year after they gave the reigns to Palmer. Look how that turned out.
I’m not saying Henne is Palmer, nor the Dolphins should/would do that here. Lets just not lock up alot of money in 1 player just because he had one good year.
Now I'll be the 1st to say my vote to the poll. Not no, but HELL NO. I don't wanna see a large amount of money tied into Pennington because of his good year. So lets go, I'll argue with anyone (and everyone) about it too.-)
Update:
Not trying to start anything over again, but since Matty abruptly ended my other post, I couldn't respond to a certain post(s) that I have seen.
I have been accused REPEATEDLY of just wanting to get rid of Pennington after his bad playoff game. Even after I (and others) brought up this post nobody seems to remember it. So I'm updating the date and time of this post so pepple can see that this wasn't a knee-jerk reaction. This was posted after Pennington help get us into the playoffs. That is all.
Go Fins!
Orginal date and time of Post ...Jan 2, 2009 1:57 PM EST
Heres da poll.

Hold on people, way too much credit to Mr. Pennington
You all are starting to give WAAAAAAAAYYYYY too much credit to Mr. Pennington. Ya know what, he contributed to this great year, but by no means was he the REASON for this great year.
First our coaches did a hell of a job with the talent they had to work with. Draft picks like, Long, Merling, Bess played alot as well. Ronnie, Ricky, Porter, Ferguson players gave it all for this team.
An improving defense all year. Wildcat formation. And what seemed like a "nobody" player stepping up for this team to win in every game they won. All contributed to these wins.
To say that Pennington is the reason we went 1-15 to 11-5 is utterly ridiculous. Not to mention a slap in the face to every other player they sweated and put in the hours to help this team win.
Pennington manage the game. Fine. He drove the ball down at the end of a couple of games to help us win. OK. But thats mostly because the offense wasn't getting the job done earlier in the game to put teams away.
You know what, people call this a magical year, mythical, a "dream" year. Guess what? It was, but the year is over with now.
Now I know this isn't gonna be a popular opinion. I will be called neg neo (among other things), but I've seen this stuff happen alot. People fall in love with players, and let their hearts cloud the vision of their mind.
Alot of things broke the Fins way to do the things they did this year. All those close wins, injuries to the Pats, favorable schedule. Those things aren't going happen next year. We are a rebuilding franchise. Don't forget this. We are in rebuilding mode and had a magical year.
Now its time to get back to rebuidling for the future. It will be a open competition for the QB position and I hope Henne wins. Not so much that I hate Pennington, just that a 33 year old QB has no business starting on a rebuilding team if a second year QB is ready.
God bless the Fins, its players and its fans. Thank you Lord for this magical ride. Everyone think realistic and remember what we are trying to accomplish.
Thanks for reading my post. I'm sorry if you don't agree. But it is what it is.
PS
For the record, stop making excuses for the guy. Those INTS were all Pennington's fault. Don't feed me any BS lines about our OL not protecting, no running game, the receivers or "he was trying to make plays". He played with them all year.
Pennington was overthrowing receivers annd throwing into double, sometimes triple coverage. Not to mention last time I checked it was 3-3 before all the INTS started rollin midway through the 2 qtr. The man is no god.
