Just a nice quick read I found.

Fins: Parcells on Sirius NFL Radio
> Posted by Ethan J. Skolnick at 10:57:06 PM

Bill Parcells was on NFL Sirius Radio tonight, with Howard David.

Some highlights:

-- He said that he promised H. Wayne Huizenga, before taking the job, that he would stay through at least two drafts.

-- He said of working with Stephen Ross: "I think it's going to work out fine."

-- He acknowledged that the Dolphins will have "a much more difficult schedule" and "we're going to have to have a better team on the field to do what we did last year."

-- "I think Tony (Sparano) did a magnificent job. I certainly wasn't involved in the coaching. He's the one who molded the team... He established law and order. I think the players have a good deal of confidence in him. I think he showed a very human and passionate side. He was very tough on them, but he showed he was passionate too."

-- He said Chad Pennington "brought a confidence," and that "the coaching staff did a very very good job with him." He called Pennington "a very good leader" and "a very good game manager," while acknowledging "that also is a little bit limiting from time to time in terms of taking a chance here or there." He said that the Dolphins ranked in the top-5 in the league in the Discipline Index stat that the team tracks, and that Pennington deserved credit for "at least a major portion of that."

-- He said that he expected about 18 new players on the roster at the start of next season.

-- On Lawrence Taylor going on Dancing with the Stars: "I haven't left him a voicemail, but I can assure you that will be forthcoming." He said he was talking to Dan Henning about it tonight.

We all know that Tony got the shaft earlier, now is our chance to get him an award he rightfully deserves, coach of the year.

On NFL.com they are having the fans vote for the Motorola Coach of the Year. Lets all lend our support to the man that rightfully deserves the award. Ya know. The guy who coached a 11 game win season in his first year. Coached the franchise to 10 more wins than they had last year. Goes out and thanks fans for coming out and supporting the Dolphins. And is a all around class act.

Lets show we appreciate him as much as he does us.

This has gotten me stirred a little bit. In a Previous fanpost by Phinsguy99 (link http://www.thephinsider.com/2009/1/1/707031/have-we-signed-an-extensio ) We we're having a discussion on Pennington and Henne.

The question is asked if we signed Pennington to an extension. To which I rose to Henne's defense. Simply put, don't fall in love with Pennington like the Browns did with Anderson last year and lock up alot of money because of this one good year.

Like I posted:

The Jets got rid of Pennington for a reason. Remember he got a come back player of the year with the Jets. Don’t get me wrong, I think Pennington is a fine QB. I love the job he did, but I’m all for the future.

Some peeps think that Henne was the best QB prospect coming out last year, ahead of the likes of Ryan and Flacco. Now he has been able to sit a year. I have no problems whatsoever if the Dolphins start floundering next year to throw Henne in without any hesitation.

Please correct me if I’m wrong but, I think the Cincinnati Bengals had a similar delemma a few years ago. Remember when they first got Marvin Lewis.

They drafted Carson Palmer, but Jon Kitna was thier QB. If I’m remembering correctly Kitna won the comeback player of the year when he started Carson’s entire rookie season. But the year after they gave the reigns to Palmer. Look how that turned out.

I’m not saying Henne is Palmer, nor the Dolphins should/would do that here. Lets just not lock up alot of money in 1 player just because he had one good year.

Now I'll be the 1st to say my vote to the poll. Not no, but HELL NO. I don't wanna see a large amount of money tied into Pennington because of his good year. So lets go, I'll argue with anyone (and everyone) about it too.-)

Update:

Not trying to start anything over again, but since Matty abruptly ended my other post, I couldn't respond to a certain post(s) that I have seen.

I have been accused REPEATEDLY of just wanting to get rid of Pennington after his bad playoff game. Even after I (and others) brought up this post nobody seems to remember it. So I'm updating the date and time of this post so pepple can see that this wasn't a knee-jerk reaction. This was posted after Pennington help get us into the playoffs. That is all.

Go Fins!

Orginal date and time of Post ...Jan 2, 2009 1:57 PM EST

Heres da poll.

Hold on people, way too much credit to Mr. Pennington

You all are starting to give WAAAAAAAAYYYYY too much credit to Mr. Pennington. Ya know what, he contributed to this great year, but by no means was he the REASON for this great year.

First our coaches did a hell of a job with the talent they had to work with. Draft picks like, Long, Merling, Bess played alot as well. Ronnie, Ricky, Porter, Ferguson players gave it all for this team.

An improving defense all year. Wildcat formation. And what seemed like a "nobody" player stepping up for this team to win in every game they won. All contributed to these wins.

To say that Pennington is the reason we went 1-15 to 11-5 is utterly ridiculous. Not to mention a slap in the face to every other player they sweated and put in the hours to help this team win.

Pennington manage the game. Fine. He drove the ball down at the end of a couple of games to help us win. OK. But thats mostly because the offense wasn't getting the job done earlier in the game to put teams away.

You know what, people call this a magical year, mythical, a "dream" year. Guess what? It was, but the year is over with now.

Now I know this isn't gonna be a popular opinion. I will be called neg neo (among other things), but I've seen this stuff happen alot. People fall in love with players, and let their hearts cloud the vision of their mind.

Alot of things broke the Fins way to do the things they did this year. All those close wins, injuries to the Pats, favorable schedule. Those things aren't going happen next year. We are a rebuilding franchise. Don't forget this. We are in rebuilding mode and had a magical year.

Now its time to get back to rebuidling for the future. It will be a open competition for the QB position and I hope Henne wins. Not so much that I hate Pennington, just that a 33 year old QB has no business starting on a rebuilding team if a second year QB is ready.

God bless the Fins, its players and its fans. Thank you Lord for this magical ride. Everyone think realistic and remember what we are trying to accomplish.

Thanks for reading my post. I'm sorry if you don't agree. But it is what it is.

PS

For the record, stop making excuses for the guy. Those INTS were all Pennington's fault. Don't feed me any BS lines about our OL not protecting, no running game, the receivers or "he was trying to make plays". He played with them all year.

Pennington was overthrowing receivers annd throwing into double, sometimes triple coverage. Not to mention last time I checked it was 3-3 before all the INTS started rollin midway through the 2 qtr. The man is no god.

"When you can't line up and beat somebody one-on-one ... whatever," OLB Calvin Pace said, shaking his head. "I guess you can give them credit. Whatever. I guess when you go from worst to first, you have to do stuff like that."

Umm sorry. When I looked on TV, it looked like my Fins lined up against the Jets. It sure looked like we had as many players lined up on one side of the ball as the did. It looked liked we were right across from them too, looking at em.

You "have to do stuff like that?" You mean try to move the ball towards a endzone like every other team? The Hell You Say?!?!

Now now. Go home to mommy and watch us on TV. Maybe next year you won't lose to sorry west coast teams that don't win more than 5 games in a season. And maybe, just maybe your upper management won't jettison their QB over a "named" QB.

SHIRT TALE: To motivate his team, Mangini obtained a preprinted "Dolphins: AFC East Champions" T-shirt and showed the players in a meeting, according to ESPN. The Dolphins got wind of it and mocked the Jets afterward.

Word has it, a picture were taken of the incident:

All I got to say is...LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

Love that pic

Damn its a great day to be a Fins Fan!

Let me just add this about the Parcells opt out thing. I don't want him to go, but if he wants to take his 9 mill, 12 mill whichever it is, and leave he can take it. He took my beloved Fins from 1-15 to 11-5 and a division crown in one year. He has earned it. I'll give a guy 12 mill to turn my team's win total by 10 in one year any day. Not to mention set a (what looks to be) awesome GM and HC, a grooming future QB in waiting in place. Ya know set my franchise which was a total disaster, up for the present and future. Ya thats worth it.

Speaking of that future, the Dolphins will be playing at Jacksonville, at Tennessee, at Atlanta, and at Carolina next season. They will host Houston, Indianapolis, New Orleans, and Tampa Bay.

The Dolphins will also host AFC North team and visit the AFC West team that finish where the Dolphins finish. So if the Dolphins finish first they play the first-place finishers of those divisions, if Miami finishes second they play the second-place teams in those divisions and so on.

Obviously Miami will also play its home-and-home series against the Buffalo, the New York Jets and the cheater New England Patriots.

I can't believe I haven't read many posts about this game yet. Am I the only one that hopes the Gators (and I'm a Canes fan mind you) rolls, and I mean absolutely ROLLS Alabama.

Its more than a Florida team having a chance to go to the National title game. Its about kicking Nick Saban in the, I would say nuts, but apparently he doesn have any. Heres a chance to screw him like he screw us.

I'm not taking the Alabama job. I don't know what else to say. I'm not going to be the head coach at Alabama. F*ck you Saban.

Well guess what? Your not going to play for the National title. I don't know what else to say it except, your gonna get your @ss handed to you.

Its time the state of Florida screws you like you screwed it. Payback is a b*tch.

The New England Patritots will play the Tampa Buccaneers in London next year. One can only hope thats its one of THEIR home games instead of the Bucs home games.

Just gonna throw this quick pole in here, because I gotta put some words down to complete the post. Personally I'm for the latter.

Its time to start thinking about draft positioning. Not ours mind you, the Washington Redskins. We have the Skins 2nd rd draft choice as we all know, my question to you is:

 <fieldset class="poll-box">

Do you wanna see the Skins go far into the playoffs for all-time Dolphins great Jason Taylors' sake? Or Screw em, give us the higher draft choice?

Give me the better draft choice.

51 votes

Ya know, I was at work the other day and was talking with a friend. He said it was no suprise to him that we lost to the Pats because we barely won against 2 win teams the previous weeks before. In which I replied that after winning one game last year, I'm just thankful we're winning at all.

In which I got to thinking about Thanksgiving and what has happened over the past year. I have ALOT to be thankful for.

I have my health. I have a job. I have gotten married to a wonderful woman and my first born boy on the way, due the day before my birthday. He will be coming home in a Miami Dolphin's receiving blanket (I got permission).

But lets get down to the Dolphins. I'm so thankful for the resurgence of my beloved Miami Dolphins. It hurt when the Fins lost this past weekend, suprisingly though, not as much as I thought it would. We're suppose to be rebuilding here, not blowing the Pats out in NE and giving them all they could handle for 3 qtrs last Sunday. Not to mention contending for playoff spot. A playoff spot?! Playoffs? Are you kidding me? Playoffs?!

We won 1 game last year. Just one. Before last Sunday, we didn't lose for a month. I got a full month of Miami Dolphins wins, when it mattered mind you.

I never thought I'd say this, but I'm thankful (somewhat) for, gulp...give me a second..... /sigh.....Cam Cam. Yea I typed it. If it wasn't for Cameron REALLY stinking it up the way he did, Wayne wouldn't have gotten "The Tuna" in here to do what had been necessary for years now. A total tear down, trade off and rebuilt team. Top to bottom. I'm thankful for our players that just wouldn't quit last year. I'm thankful for our teams this year, next year and so on.

Say whay ya will about Mr. Huizenga. He did what he thought was best for the his team. Even though he wasn't always right, he gave us Finfans a hellava going away present didn't he? He finally got it right it seems.

I'm thankful for Bill Parcells, Jeff Ireland, and Tony Sparano. God bless em and their work. I really can't put into words what they have done for me sports wise. To see my Dolphins competitive again in a rebuilding year no less. To think how good we could become with them. I know Parcells won't stay long, but I think he'll be leaving our Miami Dolphins in good hands when he does leave.

I'm thankful for this site and you guys. Matty, your doing a great job. God bless you and keep up the good work dude. And for the rest you guys. God bless ya too. You don't always agree with me, but hey, you can't be right all the time.

Happy Thanksgiving and go Dolphins!
