Hecht out til playoffs, Lalime will get his 2 of 3.
Hope this is really just maintenance.
Not a fan of Kennedy going back to center... I really believe that he is a winger. Ennis is a natural center.
Lalime "earns" start against Chicago.
Oh God. I shudder to think about this. The D better play a great game.
I really hope that he's looking to prove something against his former team...
Paille to Bruins for picks
Dave will probably not like this, but I love it.
Bills select Team Captains.
Guess what? Kelsay got demoted.
Schonert has no past connection with QB's
Schonert has struggled to make an impact with any of the offenses he's coached.
While 2008 in Buffalo was his only year as an offensive coordinator, Schonert has been the quarterbacks coach for 13 seasons with five clubs. In 1992, Schonert headed to Tampa Bay where he "guided" Vinny Testaverde to 14 touchdowns and 16 interceptions and a ticket out of Tampa. The Bucs were 5-11, but Turk stayed, with a young quarterback under his tutelage. Miami's Craig Erickson skippered Tampa to a 11-18 record over two years, but did show improvement before being booted in favor of Trent Dilfer. Dilfer tossed four touchdowns to go with 18 interceptions under Schonert, who was removed from his post and headed North.
Schonert's greatest success came in Buffalo from 1998-2000, where he couldn't choose between two quarterbacks with successful numbers. The Bills were 29-19 during that time, with Doug Flutie (47 TD, 30 INT) and Rob Johnson (22 TD, 10 INT) co-existing peacefully. He left after an 8-8 campaign in Orchard Park.
Schonert had another inexperienced starter in Carolina in 2001. Chris Weinke went 1-14 as a starter, with 11 TD and 19 INT. Turk's tenure in Carolina ended there. He took a year off in 2002 before returning to the league in 2003 with the Giants, where he coached Kerry Collins to one of his worst years as a professional. Collins and Schonert were out of jobs. After another year off, Schonert spent a season with the Saints, ensuring the end of Aaron Brooks' time in New Orleans. Three wins and 13 losses tend to correspond with 13 touchdowns and 17 interceptions. Schonert, Brooks, gone.
Sensing a pattern here? Schonert has failed with rookies, veterans, Pro Bowlers and Super Bowlers.
Would Edwards have a SB ring if he played for the Steelers in 2008?
After reading the final installment of Brian's Top Ten Bills to Decide 2009 : #1 Trent Edwards post. I thought that one of the keys to victory could be running the ball 40-50 times a game. I've always connected Pittsburgh with a power run game from the years of Bettis. I thought that running the ball was Pittsburgh's method and that if it worked for the Steelers, it could work for the Bills this year. Come on, Lynch, Jackson, Rhodes? It's a pretty nice stable. So I looked into things. Still always in the back of my head, I thought, come on, they are a run-oriented team. Ben averaged under 30 attempts per game and ONLY 17 completions in 2008. Then I looked at the team's season stats. Look at their season averages: rushing (105 per game), passing (311 per game), pts. per game (21.7), and yards per game (311.9). They were an average offense on paper and their O-line was atrocious. The Bills were at least two teams behind them in each offensive category. Sure the O was clutch in the SB but who wouldn't feel confident with a #1 ranked D?
So then I thought about a Big Ben and Edwards comparison because I'm crazy. Ben is one hell of a game manager and that's the very least I'm asking Trent to be. Their builds are similar, only one inch and ten pounds lost between each. Similar arm strength. I know Roethlisberger is one of the hardest QB's to take down when scrambling and is much sturdier than most people perceive TE to be, but I think Edwards needs to gain that confidence. If Trent's awareness and leadership could get to the level of Big Ben's, we got ourselves a great player and a QB to lean on. Let's look at season stats:

Alright, I understand what most people are going to say. Double the sacks = Dead shattered Trent. But most of those sacks came from Ben trying his damnedest to make a play. Our O-line was pretty sucktastic as well with Melduke Fowlstonsuck playing revolving door and patchwork. Now I think that Trent is a much more heady QB where Ben relys on his physical gifts. But I think they are comparable to the point that Trent would be as successful if put in the same situation. Obvisouly Ben was drafted onto a team that was ready to compete and they took the chance on a rookie, much like Joe Flacco on this years Ravens which took a different route. I do have to say that I was surprised to see that 2008 was the first season that Ben played a complete season.
I really think that Trent will step up and put on his daddypants in his second full season and I'm somewhat expecting numbers in line with Big Ben's 2005 season. Please tear this to shreds boys.
Evans training with Fitzgerald.
I'm loving the tutelage that Bills players are getting this off season. Maybin with Rayray Lewis and now Evans with Cris Carter and Fitz? Steve Johnson and Hardy are probably going to be taking some notes from T.O. as well.
Bills and Sabres ranked in Worst Uniforms.
I completely agree with the Sabres being on the list, but they are #1 for me. I never knew why they felt the need to change the sweaters aside from making people buy new jerseys. That slug will never represent my team.
The Bills uni isn't terrible, but I agree that they should just play in the throwbacks all season.
Personally, Both teams should use their 1993 styles, with SLIGHT updates.
How do you guys feel about Buffalo's uniforms, past, present and possible future?
Meeting Aaron Maybin in a time of tragedy.
Alright, So I'll preface this with the sad part . My cousin, Jeff, committed suicide last Thursday, 6/4/2009. He was a big Bills and Sabres fan and a guy that would do absolutely anything for a friend. I live in NYC and was walking to the gym when I found out. I called my father ten minutes after he had found him. I was crushed. My family is very tight-knit. That's one thing I love about Buffalo, it's a very strong area in terms of family and friends. I booked my ticket home on Saturday night and was a little disappointed to get onto the little crap turboprop plane, after leaving straight from work Sunday to catch my flight. There are few worse reasons for travel than a funeral. I sat and looked out the window and stared at the guys loading what little luggage there was. My attention was diverted by this really tall stacked African-American kid sitting in the seat next to mine. He looked damn familiar and I tried figure out which Bill he was. He looked over to ask if he could put the armrest down and I got a clear look at his face. It was Aaron Maybin. He was really polite and very quiet, sitting and reading his magazines. I didn't bother him at all, but said as we were getting up to leave the flight "Good luck with MiniCamp and Training Camp. We're all really excited to see what you can do this year." His response, with a big smile "Thank you very much, I really appreciate that and I've got a lot of work to do, but I'm excited just like everyone else." It was just a very cool and interesting coincidence in the midst of a boatload of hell and hard time.
Thanks for that Jeffie.

Youboty Progressing & Scuba Steve learning from Lee
OTA's Day 10
"It felt good being out there with the fellas," said Youboty. "Itfelt a little sore here and there, but generally a lot better."
Youboty is encouraged by how his ailing feet have come along, which is important considering the high impact nature of his position. At this point however, one foot is a bit ahead of the other.
"Right now they’re both going good," said Youboty. "One is still getting treatment, but once that’s done I’m ready to go."
It's great to hear. I hope that Youboty can hold up this year.
Also:
Once again, Lee Evans and Terrell Owens spent a good half hour after practice working with Trent Edwards on pass routes.
Edwards seemed to be particularly focused on a specific deep out route working with the receivers on how much touch versus arc to put on the pass until both sides were satisfied.
Second-year wideout Stevie Johnson also joined in for the overtime session. Johnson has been talking with Evans about developing consistency in one's game with respect to running routes.
"It's about doing the same things and being consistent and that's what I've been talking to Lee about is his consistency," said Johnson. "That's how you build confidence in all your quarterbacks."
I am really excited about this year's passing game and the work that Trent and the receivers are putting into OTAs.
Can't wait til the pads go on.
