Why all is not lost...
Disclaimer: Still buzzed so sorry for the grammatical errors and cursing.
Yeah the loss against BYU sucked. We should have won that game and I think everyone that suited up for the Rebs knows it. Thing is BYU is a respectable team when compared to the likes of Jacksonville State. It is only one game and there is still hope. This season can still be a turn around from last year. Why you ask? Well here goes my take.
To our Ducks
Well guys this year has come to an end and for players and fans, a little too soon. Still this season has some simply magical moments in it. Corry Perry defied the hockey Gods and made opposing goalies look foolish. Teemu schooled guys half his age. Lubo broke the clubs single season scoring record. Parros hit a season high in fighting majors. Bobby Ryan showed Saku’s brother how to score with his stick. And we finally got to see Saku in the playoffs or as I like to call him Super Saku. There were plenty of great moments that I did not mention this year and you guys sure made it one hell of a season to remember. So thank you guys. Thanks for all the hard work that you put in. No matter whether you were a 30 minute a night guy or a guy who got a handful of minutes on a quick NHL call up, thanks for giving it your all.
To our boys that will be back next year. Enjoy the summer. Spend time with the family and decompress. Enjoy the time off because when you come back, be ready to battle it out in the toughest division in hockey.
To those that we will lose in trades, thanks for your time here. We have enjoyed you playing in the Honda Center and living in our communities. Best of luck with your new teams unless you happen to be playing our Ducks. In that case loose an edge will you?
To those that hang them up this year, thanks for everything you have gave on this team and for making the NHL better. The league is growing and you have had a hand in that. Best of luck to where ever life may take you.
Hey number 8 you aren’t really going to hang them are you? You didn’t even sign a stick for Getzy’s garage this year. You can’t hang them up. You still got it and it sure looked like you were having fun out there this year. Come back next year and bring Paul back home will you? If you do decide to hang them up we will understand. You have been the heart and soul of this franchise and the fan base will miss you greatly. Even though you are one of Finland’s finest, we in So Cal are proud to call you one of our own. Thanks for all you have done for the game of hockey and for our Ducks. You are truly one of a kind.
Get some rest Ducks and I’ll see you at the rink next year. Go Ducks!

Another Fin is coming to town
Word is that Jarkko Ruutu will be joining the Ducks for a sixth round pick. With Mara being moved last night you knew a forward would be coming to town. Either by trade or by call up someone was coming up. Now Saku, Teemu and Toni have another countryman to have around. I kind of like this. We could always use another guy with a chip on his shoulder and he is a left handed shot. Not a bad pick up for a sixth round pick.
Mara to Habs.
Well we all knew that at least one of our guys on D was going to get moved. Mara is that guy. He was shipped off to the Habs for a 5th round pick. So are we done offloading D or do we pull the trigger on one more?

Thanks Paul for taking Cam under your wing to start the season and all the best in Montreal.

Hiller hurt.
During practice today Jonas Hiller took a shot to the facemask and did not return to practice. He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago for further evaluation and received four sutures. The article can be found at http://ducks.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=543448
Festerling and Syvret on waivers.
Well after the 8-3 beating that we took against the Los Angeles Kings, it was only a matter of time before some heads would roll. The Ducks announced that they placed Brett Festerling and Danny Syvret on waivers at 9 AM this morning. Well see if they clear tomorrow. With they way that both of them have been playing, I don’t see many teams jumping at the chance to grab them. We will see. Your thoughts?
McCue traded
According to TSN.com Matt McCue from the Anaheim Ducks has been traded for Tomas Zaborsky. Yeah really that is the big news of the day. I guess its more depth for the AHL.
In other news Ilya is staying put with the Devils. At least he is not going to the Kings. Ok now we return you to your painfully slow and long offseason in which it seems nothing is getting done for our Ducks. When will this end? Who knows. Maybe just maybe we can get some good news regarding Teemu this week, month, or year.
Thank you Scotty.
I have been a Ducks fan from day 1 and today is one of the saddest days I have had as a fan of the Ducks. But is also a day to celebrate. What a career our captain has had. No words that I type do this man justice but I will try. He was a great person on and off the ice and although I never knew how he was in the locker room, I cannot think that he would be that different. While most fans are disappointed and I am among them, Scotty has earned the right to hang them up. A winner of the Memorial Cup, World Junior Championship gold, IIHF World Championship gold, two Olympic gold medals for Canada, four Stanley Cups and the World Cup. What a list for the kid born in Edmonton and raised in Cranbrook. Not only was he a first round draft pick but he was and is a first class person as well and a fan favorite. Time will tell if that will be the last 27 we will see in a Duck’s sweater but I think it should. Thank you Scotty for everything you have done. You will be deeply missed.
But where do we go from here? We move on. Our next captain whoever that might be will have some large shoes to fill. Our guys can do it. Our defense will need to replace a major component. Our guys can do it. We will need someone to step up in the power play. Our guys can do it. Am I saying that we have all the pieces in place to pull it off? Not yet but I do believe that our guys can do it. Have faith Ducks fans. As much as we want to mourn the loss of our great captain everyone has to hang them up at sometime. We need to move on and our guys who don the black and orange need to pull together to replace Scotty. Our guys can do it. The real question is will they? Only time will tell.
NHL Draft 2010
Ok so I know I have mentioned it a few times in a few different threads but I do not have a clue as to which thread I put them in so here it is. Let this fan post be for anyone who want to go to the NHL Draft up in Queensland this year and lets figure out who is going and if we want to go as an Anaheim Calling group. Let’s get up there and show our new players some Ducks love followed by ten threads of what they need to do to stop sucking. Ok kidding on the last part but lets get up there and welcome to new guys into the Duck's family. As a bonus to seeing our new Ducks you will also get a chance to rub it in on the Kings fans with their first round loss. Who's with me?
To the Ducks of 2009 - 2010
To the Anaheim Ducks,
Now our journey for the 2009 and 2010 season has come to an end. Let me say thank you. Thank you to everyone from the starters to the call up who might have only had a handful of minutes. Thank you from wearing our black and orange and defending Honda Center from the invading hordes of the NHL. While we may not have had the results that we wanted there is always next year. To the guys who will not be back next year in our jerseys, good luck where ever life takes you. That is unless you are a visitor in Honda Center. Then I hope you have a horrible game for those 60 minutes. To the boys that are coming back next year. Take the off season and get healthy. Get faster and stronger. Recharge the batteries and come back here ready to tear up the western conference. Get hungry for hockey again. To the guys that are thinking about retiring. Don’t. Yeah I am singling out you #8. You are way too good to hang them up and you are a class act. You are good for not only Anaheim but for the game of hockey as well. If you do thank you for your years that you have spent in Anaheim. We will miss you dearly. To our captain: Scotty really no words do you justice. Thanks for everything you have done. Please come back next year but at a cheaper cost so we can get you some help on your blueline. "Help me help you." Ok maybe not me but the front office. To all of our Ducks: Thank you again and have a safe journey home. Godspeed and see you next season.
Thanks again,
Newport Rebel
Now back to the grinder of who we think should and should not be back next year.
Lubo will miss final three games of the season
As if the week could not go any worse here is another bit of bad news. It's no real surprise after seeing the shot he took last night but here is to a speedy recovery and a good off season for Lubo. Its a shame that he cannot finish out the season but in all fairness the season ended last night anyways.
