A lot of undeserved criticism for John Lackey. Miller nails it today in his column and takes a well deserved shot at the fans here.

This is not another Brandon Wood post but why not pinch hit anyone for Aybar? Aybar is a very very good defensive player and he should be starting at short but with two outs in the 9th, I'd rather see just about any other position player at the plate not named Gary Mattews Junior. Willits, Wood or Izturis all would have been better options in that situation. Did anyone bring up this point on the broadcast? I was watching with it muted (wife in the room).

UofA has their Head Coach and the rumor is that it is Mark Few.

Anyone heard anything? I think it makes sense because the Zags will be rebuilding next year but it is a complete rebuild job at Arizona as well. Most say Few does not enjoy recruiting and that would be of paramount importance in building Arizona.

I wonder if the Zags will look to Bill Grier at USD to take over if Few does indeed leave for Arizona.

Sign Manny and Wigginton when Tex goes to Boston

That would give the Halos a lineup of :

Figgy

Howie

Manny

Vlad

Torri

Wiggy

Mathis

Morales

Aybar

My buddy ran the projections using Marcel projections. That lineup would score 5.35 runs a game and 863 over the course of the season. If the Halos could swing the Peavy deal that has been talked about, this team easily wins the West and gets another shot to roll the dice come October. I certainly hope the Halos can get Tex but this lineup is actually pretty good and looking possible. If you put Willits in the OF and Tex at 1B, the projections say the Halos score 858 runs.

There are a lot of off the field issues with Manny, but as a hitter I've watched him beat the Angels too many times not to want to see him in the lineup.
