Baltimore Beat Down What If Ravens "Used" the Broncos Again?

I understand it probably would never happen, but what would it take for us to trade with the Denver Broncos for the 2nd pick in the 2011 NFL Draft? I've read everywhere that the Broncos are trying to unload that pick, and I feel like there are so many players at that spot in the draft that could solve a lot of our problems, so I was wondering what it would take for us to do that?

If we did trade there, we could draft LSU's Patrick Peterson (if the Carolina Panthers don't) and have a true shut-down cornerback.  We could draft A.J. Green (Georgia) or Julio Jones (Alabama) and have a true young receiver that has very little, if any downside.  We could draft an elite pass rusher like Da'Quan Bowers (Clemson), or Von Miller (Texas A&M) to shore up that OLB spot left empty by our clumsy friend with a drinking problem.  I just feel like it would allow us to choose what hole we'd want to fill and not have to worry about it at all, so I was wondering what you think it would take for us to do that, and if we did, what hole would you want to fill?

Baltimore Beat Down Saying it again

I loved the way Cam Cameron was attacking down the field early in the game. It worked. Then in the second half, all we called were dump off or short passes. In overtime it only got worse. I have to say it but I think he blew that game for us with his overtime play calling.  The offense looked like they were playing in a way that they were hoping the defense would bail them out. They had been the whole first half, and they can't the whole game.  We have so many weapons and we absolutely have the skills and team to not have to rely on defense anymore, but the play calling reflects that mentality still.  Someone needs to sit Cam Cameron down and explain that to him or we're going to lose more heart breakers this year.

That being said, I thought this was a game we needed to lose so that we could go back to the "under the radar" mode that we seem to thrive in.  I think we should have won and I don't like having to lose, but it happened and so lets focus on looking forward, and I think we should start by fixing the play calling problems we have.

Baltimore Beat Down Biased Punishments?

It may just be me but...

Did anyone else notice that John Harbaugh got fined more for touching a referee than Brandon Jacobs, who threw his helmet into the stands? Don't you think that might even deserve a suspension? He could have hurt a fan, he could have caused some serious damage, but they think that's less severe than touching a referee to argue a call?  He didn't hurt the ref.

I also don't think it's fair that Braylon Edwards can get ANOTHER DWI and no fines or suspensions? I'm surprised Ray Lewis hasn't gotten fined for criticizing the refs because we always get fined when that happens.

Is it just me or do other people see these things too? Thanks for listening to a young(er) die hard's ranting.

And so this article is actually telling people something: Harbaugh's fine was for $15,000 while Brandon Jacob's was for $10,000

Baltimore Beat Down Offensive Coordinator

Now I may be jumping the gun, or even totally off base, but I watch these other teams play and I see points being put up left and right, quarterbacks throwing for 200, 300 yards and even running backs rushing for over 100 yards with the quarterbacks still doing their job.  It may just be me but I feel like it's not that the talent isn't there, but we just aren't getting the play calling or the offensive style we need. We know we have the talent, but I don't think Cam Cameron can run it the way it needs to be run.  The Broncos put up 31 points this week, but we haven't been able to hit 14 yet.  I don't think it's the players. I really feel like we need to look into a different offensive coordinator.  I just don't think Cam is the play caller that can truly take advantage of the talent we have.

I understand that when the defense holds teams to under 20 points a game we don't need to put up 40 some points, but why shouldn't we? Why do we always have to BARELY out score the team? If we can get the plays to take advantage of the talent, then I feel as if we should absolutely change our play style and do it. The Lions have the talent finally and they are showing it. We have more depth and I believe equal if not better all around talent on the offense than they do.  If we keep games as close as they have been, then we can't afford to make mistakes.  Yes if our quarterback throws 4 interceptions in a game, I don't expect to win, but when Ray Rice gets 16 total touches while playing well, I don't get why you don't go to him more.  I just feel like we need to get someone who can use what we have and change the style from pound it out offense (which we don't really even run with Ray Rice and the passing game we have) and switch to an offense that can score. We haven't looked like the ground and pound run first offense since we moved Mclain to fullback full time.  Ray Rice is a fast back who can run over people, we need to use that and the (what feels like) billion threats we have in the passing game.

What coordinators would we be able to get to change this, and am I just totally off base here? Please correct me if I'm the only one who feels this way, but I feel like I do make sense.

Baltimore Beat Down Bengals Sign Pacman

According to ProFootballTalk, the Bengals are in the process of finishing up signing Adam "Pacman" Jones.  I could understand this if he was playing well even though he gets in trouble, but he hasn't been able to play well since his large suspension.  I feel like the Bengals are making a big mistake in this one as it could negatively affect team chemistry.  Hopefully it's a short contract for them.  As much as I would like to see the Bengals fail, I would feel bad for Marvin Lewis.  We'll see how this plays out...

Baltimore Beat Down Can Ngata play DE?

I've been looking at a lot of mock drafts and they have us taking Tarrence Cody from Bama.  He is a huge (almost WAY too big) nose tackle, but we play a 3-4 which would either delegate him or Ngata to DE or the bench which I don't get why would do it then unless we are sure Ngata can play DE... Any thoughts?  I personally think he's overweight and will end up like a Albert Haynesworth type player where he has to take plays off cause he just doesn't have the stamina to go 3 plays in a row... I also think he's really strong and could be a force on our line though.  What does everybody else think though?

Baltimore Beat Down Kevin Walter Re-signs With Texans

I guess that unless we want T.O. then we're probably done with free agent/ trading for receivers (besides re-signing Derrick Mason).  I like the "Q" (Anquan Boldin) trade but I also don't.  I would have preferred Brandon Marshall because it would have only cost one pick (first rounder) and he is definitely first round talent and younger and I also don't like giving up 3rd AND 4th round picks for "Q" but I really think he'll help the team a lot.  Kevin Walter is definitely out of the question then.

Baltimore Beat Down NFC Rematches All Next Week

I noticed this earlier and was wondering if anyone else noticed this... The Packers played in Arizona this week, and the Eagles played in Dallas.  Next week for the first week of the playoffs, the games are: #5 Packers playing AT the #4 Cardinals (again) and the #6 Eagles playing AT the #3 Cowboys. I just found it funny that there is going to be the exact same games as this week being played again next week... And if the Jets win (which it looks like they will) then it will be a rematch between both of them again but IN Cincinnati. I just found it funny and wanted to point it out to people who didn't notice it yet.

Baltimore Beat Down Kick Returner changed

According to the Sun the Ravens have given the return job to Lardarius Webb and taken it away from Chris Carr to try and get some life into the return game.  Apparently the opening kickoff fumble by Carr may have helped him lose the job.  The fumble against the Patriots resulted in a field goal and started the game off on a bad note.  I hope this does help the return game get better because it has seemed to have very little production yet this year.

Baltimore Beat Down McNair Patch

So the titans are going to have some sort of "9" patch for the season for McNair.  Do you think the Ravens will do anything to honor his death? I get he died amid some bad circumstances and that may still leave a bitter taste in people's mouths when they think of "Air McNair", but he still was one of the greatest players I have ever seen play and can be called one of the best (Hall worthy or not).  He pioneered the tough, run if not pass and take one for the team quarterback.  I think we should at least do something, what do you guys think?

Baltimore Beat Down Mark Clayton

I've read on Yahoo that Mark Clayton got hurt (hamstring) and is going to miss 4-6 weeks of the preseason and MAY be back for the season opener.  Is this the truth they speak?  This could be a good thing and a bad thing.  Bad: obvious, he's our #2 and he's hurt.  Good: Demetrius Williams can now step in and show us what he's got (until he gets hurt *crossing my fingers he doesn't*).  So is this true? And would you view this as a positive or a negative?

Baltimore Beat Down Vick to Ravens?

Recently John Harbaugh told the AP that: "We've had long discussions about Michael Vick and we have a feeling about how he would impact our team and not impact our team." And I was wondering what people thought about that being a hint at them being interested in Vick.  What do people think about that and what would that do for them if they were interested or did end up signing him, possibly as a reciever or qb.  I know Ozzie said that they have enough quarterbacks so reciever could be a possibility with the Derrick Mason drama and whatnot...
