49ers-Cardinals: Final Injury Report
Hey everyone, Fooch James here. We've got the final injury report before the game today and I figured I wasn't TOO busy and I could put this up in Fooch's absence. Right about the time you read this I should be in San Francisco setting up a grill so I won't be making the game threads with you today but don't miss me too much.
New to the injury report (I think) is CB Marcus Hudson, who is questionable along with LT Joe Staley. Staley has said since his injury that he was hoping to return by tonight's game but it's looking more and more doubtful that he'll be able to make it tonight. The Cardinals, however are a rather healthy team this season, which isn't good news but we'll have to deal.
After the jump I've got the transcript of Mike Singletary's post-practice press conference.

Golden Nuggets: Lets do this...
Morning, morning. Well... it's game day. I mean, I'm sure you all know that but man do I have a feeling in the pit of my stomach. The 49ers really need to pull out a win here so everyone else knows they're better than they've played. Then again we could shoot for another high draft pick... I mean, it'd be worth consi--no. No it would not, it's NEVER good to lose, ever. Especially when I'm in the stadium. If I catch any of you saying that it'd be better to shoot for a high draft pick I'll have to regulate. That's all. Another "then again" is the fact that the 49ers aren't technically eliminated from the playoff race, which is kind of mind-blowing at this point, but it would certainly take a whole lot for them to get in at this point. Would be nice though, I wasn't aware that LB Takeo Spikes hasn't been in the post-season once in his career... sure would be nice to get him in, since I'm of the opinion that he's the best TED linebacker in the NFL save for maybe Lawrence Timmons. Either way, the 49ers need to win this game for many reasons. Oh, and if you guys get a chance, I've got a cause I'm really trying to support right now, I'll post the link at the end of the nuggets, at least look if you get a chance. Thanks. Lets do this.
It's time for QB Alex Smith to prove himself. I certainly agree, I want to know what we have going into next season. (SacBee.com)

Our leader has fallen!
Evening, folks. Just putting up a general article for you all because I'm awesome. In reality though, Fooch asked me to let you all know he won't be around posting anything tonight. His computer is fried and he likely won't have it for a few days. No worries, he always has a plan to get his usual stuff up, a couple dependable people (coughmecough) and all that.
To ramble, today was a pretty good day for football. We've currently got the Sunday night game on in which the Eagles are completely dominating the Giants which for reasons I can't explain makes me happy. It's good to see the Seahawks get the dividends of a constant beatdown today as well from the Texans. Man, that game was ugly. But it was beautiful for us. Sound familiar? Anyway, the Rams lost which was good and the Panthers fell to the Patriots, making that draft choice all the better. I'm really excited by what this team can get with these two picks in this draft.
The Cardinals come to Candlestick tomorrow and I will be at the game. Lets hope to finish this season strong and begin it with a huge win on Monday Night Football so everyone knows the 49ers are for real. Anyway, that's about all folks, look for me to post up an injury report for you tomorrow. Go Niners!

Golden Nuggets: Loves him some... 49ers?
Good morning folks, welcome to the Golden Nuggets. In this edition I tell you how SB Nation is evil and doesn't want you to have your links. That's right, they want you linkless. Ok, not really but I put together a pretty comprehensive edition of the Nuggets yesterday and scheduled it to post at its usual time of 3:00 AM but... to no avail. For some reason it didn't post and you guys were without me for one day.. now I know, it must have been pretty hard for you, but I'm here now, no worries. Seriously though, should have a good day of football today, I'll be watching the Minny/Cincy game hoping... Ok, nevermind. I'm really not even going to tell you guys what I was going to reference in my joke there because it's so nerdy and embarrassing. Moving on to the Niners I should have enough links for you seeing as how the Nuggets didn't go up yesterday. Can't wait to get up early and end up at the 'Stick about six hours before kickoff on Monday--should be awesome. Without further ado, however, here is your links.
Terrell Owens says he wouldn't be opposed to finishing his career with... the San Francisco 49ers. Wow, I have no idea what to think of that. Clearly Battle, Jones and Bruce aren't going to factor much into things next season.. I mean, Jones could but Bruce is out for sure and Battle is useless so...? (SacBee.com)
Patrick Willis has been quoted as saying something the whole world already knows: "The Cardinals will NOT run the ball on us." (MercuryNews.com)
QB Alex Smith is doing a pretty good job of playing through the drops. Vernon Davis needs to not revert back to well... the bust Vernon Davis. (PressDemocrat.com)
WR Michael Crabtree isn't sure what drops any of us are talking about... huh. I will admit that the majority of his drops are on some pretty high passes. (SacBee.com)
LT Joe Staley may still be out.. which sucks.. yeah, not much to say there. (SFGate.com)
A look at some of the changes between the first matchup with the Cards and the upcoming. (ESPN.com)

My Excuse: An Interview With Jerry Rice
So about a week ago I was contacted by some folks representing Jerry Rice for setting up an interview for the various sites I write for. Needless to say I was ecstatic. As some of you may know I write for two other sites but I'm getting this up here first in a more personal matter with you folks here at Niners Nation. (Personal meaning that I actually know and talk to some of you.) I'll be posting the full interview here but my full experience (ie my more professional post) will likely be included in the Nuggets tomorrow when I get the other article up on the other site I write for.
Basically, Rice is working with Gillette and the NFL to support their Locker Room Giveaway program. Fans can log into NFL.com/LockerRoom and get peeks into designated locker rooms after the game to get a behind the scenes look and get a chance to win some pretty cool stuff. Rice describes it well in the interview and I'll leave it at that.
Needless to say as a huge fan of Jerry for years I was very, very nervous but I feel I did a pretty good job of interviewing him. He called me on my Skype number and I had about twelve minutes with him. I found him to be really laid back and also very, very humble. He didn't overthink or prepare his responses and spoke his mind, and had a lot of admirable things to say about the Hall of Fame and the records he holds.
Still, I think the promotion he's working with is pretty cool and I'm very fortunate to be able to represent the three sites I write for in some capacity and that I was able to interview him. After the jump, I'll post the interview in text form for all of you here. I have the audio but I'm going to cut that up a little more before I do anything with it, considering this interview was intended for write-up purposes.
Enjoy, folks!

Golden Nuggets: Ready to lose my voice
Morning, everyone. I'm back, for the second day in a row which means I'm obviously on a roll. No but seriously, I shouldn't be missing any more of these. As for what I've been gone for, make sure you're on here today at 7 AM PT for my post. That being said, I'm not sure what I've got for you today in the way of links. I imagine there aren't too many but hopefully some previews will be rolling in. As always I'll be at the game Monday Night, and I'm really hoping the 49ers pull a win out for me because it's absolutely the worst two hour drive back, with likely an hour added onto that considering it's Monday Night Football and therefore traffic will be killer. I'd like it if someone told me once again that if I lose my voice the 49ers will win because they're 2-0 when people tell me that and I'd like to take a chance and risk that record again. Still, we've still got a couple days of links until then so why don't I just get to what I've got for you on the day, mmkay?

Golden Nuggets: Guess I gotta face it sometime..
Good morning, folks! Sorry I've been sketchy on the links but I've been keeping busy, to be sure! Thanks to Fooch again for covering for me. Still, I had to sleep early for a good cause. If you're wondering what it is, make sure to come on over to this site tomorrow morning at 7 AM PT, I should have my post up by then. All I can say is it was a very positive experience for me. That being said it has been nice to be deterred from say, the current 49ers team but I suppose I have to look at this season at some point. I'm done crying over it, to be honest. This team needs to finish strong, someone told me that over the phone yesterday, and it's true. Very true, I'm looking for as strong a finish as possible and improvement from Alex Smith so we know what we have going into the 2010 season. This isn't a bad team we've got here, we have too many good players to just waste that talent. Best I can do is look forward to Monday Night and hope I don't leave Candlestick disappointed. That would seriously suck. Here's your links.
And so retires my favorite 49er of the last ten years--Jeff Ulbrich. He has nothing left to prove for 49er fans, a great player and a great guy. (PressDemocrat.com)
So it seems Great America is suing the city of Santa Clara, claiming the stadium deal is illegal as per their agreement with the theme park. (ESPN.com)
The 49ers placed Kentwan Balmer on IR and signed a replacement, Baraka Atkins. As previously a huge fan of the MK series, man this guy is setting himself up to make me very disappointed. Still, I actually think he could be good. (PressDemocrat.com)
The 49ers are the only team that can stop the Cardinals from getting into the playoffs now. Not sure that it will happen... (NBCBayArea.com)
There was plenty of reasons the 49ers released Allen Rossum, I fully support the release. I don't, however, support using Arnaz Battle on them. That man is useless. I want him gone, forever. Am I bitter? Heck. Yes. (SFGate.com)

Golden Nuggets: The morning after the morning after... still sucks
Good morning there folks. Sorry I couldn't get the Nuggets up yesterday but thanks to Fooch for handling them for me. It clearly was not my night. Oh well, I figured when I asked him that it may be for the better so I'm not a bitter [site decorum] when I write these but well... It really didn't work, because I still have no clue how to feel about the 49ers right now. Obviously there is um.. still a chance that the 49ers can make the playoffs but I'm not going to let myself even think it's a possibility at the moment. No, that's not a lack of fandom, I want this team to finish strong and show the rest of the NFL we're better than we've played, these 4 point losses are infuriating and this team has to recover to be a force next season. I look at this roster and I see a team that's in far better shape than the Rams and the Seahawks and on par to make the Cardinals look just terrible once old man Warner retires. Bring on some last minute wins, baby. Here's some links.
Coach Singletary is still upset by the officiating in the game Sunday. (Yahoo.com)
Most notably the unfavorable calls against the 49ers as well as the blatant non-calls. (NFL.com)
He's not playing the blame game though, which at least makes me respect him a little more. Not happy with him at the moment. Lets just say if I saw him in person I'd likely end up getting my [site decorum] kicked. (PressDemocrat.com)
Could naming Alex Smith the starter be saving Singletary and McCloughan's jobs? Huh. (MercuryNews.com)

Golden Nuggets: War Niners!
Hello folks! To explain the title, it's because I'm all jacked up on MMA right now (it's legal to be jacked up on MMA I think if not I'm probably fired) and that's how you root for your favorite fighter so... Why not, right? Anyway, I'm writing this a bit early so I can get some needed rest and be up in time to watch the game, kind of bummed out as usual for away games because I can't attend, though I'm seriously considering going to a road Seattle game next season. I have a good feeling the Niners can walk in there and come out with an impressive win, but everything has to be perfect. The Seahawks have looked deflated, but we never know which 'Hawks team will show up on any given day and Hasselbeck can come out and decide that he is in fact, not old and unreliable and light up the 49ers struggling secondary. Lets hope that doesn't happen though, shall we? Not sure what I have for you in the way of links but you know what to expect on game day. Lets do this, gents! FOOOOORRRRTYYYYYYY NIIIIIIIIIINERS! (Cookie to who gets the rather lame and nerdy reference.)
One of the best summations for what's going down on game day, Maiocco has some notes and a preview. (PressDemocrat.com)
TE Delanie Walker has been getting some press since last week--he deserves it, I've always thought he was a pretty dynamic player. He could present some problems for the Seahawks. (PressDemocrat.com)
Coach Singletary is putting his focus on the defense's tackling--yet again. I hate missed tackles more than almost anything else. The thought process is something along the lines of "Ok he has the ball, but (lets say) Spencer has the angle.. Alright, held them on thir--WHAT WHY DID YOU DO THAT YOU STUPID..." cut off for site decorum. (SFGate.com)
The team is getting ready for the loud noise of the Seahawk's stadium. (MercuryNews.com)

Golden Nuggets: Nervous, but confident... enough
Well folks we're one day away from the game against the Seattle Seahawks. I'm nervous, I'm not gonna lie. I have faith in my 49ers to win, and I even think they have the potential to win big what with the disarray and the way the 'Hawks are playing lately, but I never feel completely confident about a divisional matchup. I mean come on, when the 49ers played the Rams at home I wasn't even completely confident, I was at that game and I just had a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach. We're just a couple games back of the Cardinals, which is funny that I say that because before the Jags game nobody really expected to be even looking to the playoffs again this season, but here we are... If the 49ers don't beat the Hawks, I think the Niners don't make the playoffs, it's as simple as that. Not sure what I have for you in the way of links but I'll post up what I got, I'm also running a bit late which sucks. Enjoy.
I'll start with a piece on TE Delanie Walker since he's a pretty awesome guy and one of my favorite players. Pretty underrated too, in my mind. (49ers.com)
Sando has his "final word" on the NFC West for this week, basically his last look ahead before the games tomorrow. (ESPN.com)
Can this team make the playoffs from their current position at 5-6? It's been done before. (MercuryNews.com)
LB Takeo Spikes is again listed as questionable going into a game. (NFL.com)
Here's some insights from and on Jimmy Raye, a look at him and the offense he is running. (SFGate.com)
Ahmad Brooks is joining the linebacker rotation in an increased role tomorrow. (SFGate.com)
