I award you 0 points for originality Forde
I know we have beaten to death the four letters lazy articles but I would have thought that this week Pat Forde would have put his JoePa is old jokes aside and actually comment on the legend and the historic events of the weekend. Serves me right for thinking that Les Miles eating grass was not the most important thing that happened Saturday.
Astorino almost a Hawkeye
I was reading through Flounders recent post on pennlive and came across the following intersting tidbit regarding Astorino receiving the last PSU scholly in '07:
"I spoke with Astorino's father Gary today and asked him where Drew would have went had PSU not offered. Gary Astorino said Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz wanted him in Iowa City. "Absolutely, no question, I think Drew would have went to Iowa,'' said Gary, who recently retired from the Edinboro University coaching staff, where he was an assistant for 23 years."
While I certainly understand an athletes desire to get a free education, as well as a fathers desire to protect his son's image by making sure we all knew he had other offers, as a Penn Stater, to me, this is the wrong answer. In addition, as a players, I don't think I would want that quote floated out there by my dad. A simple, "he always wanted to go to PSU and thankfully we didn't have to find that out" type of answer would have deflected the question. I know the best answer is he would have been the water boy for a chance to play for JoePa but I'm trying to be a little realistic. I'm not trying to pick it apart too much, or question him in any way, just curious if anyone else had thoughts on it.
Only 3 more days!!!!!!
8/20 Line Up
All: The line-up has been posted for tonights game:
1. Jacoby Ellsbury, CF
2. Dustin Pedroia, 2B
3. Victor Martinez, C
4. Kevin Youkilis, 1B
5. Jason Bay, LF
6. David Ortiz, DH
7. Mike Lowell, 3B
8. J.D. Drew, RF
9. Alex Gonzalez, SS
-- Jon Lester, SP
Aside from the number 9 slot (which I know we all would love a better short stop but we really don't have a choice), are there any complaints? Personally, I am happy to see that we have an actual major league team taking the field tonight.
My question for everyone, is this not the best line-up the Sox have featured all year? I would think it has to be. Just curious of everyone's thoughts. Go Sox!
