What's with all the punts?

Half way through Tubb's first season with TT, the Red Raiders have already punted the ball (30 times) as much as they did all season in 2007 (30) and 2008 (26). In 2009, TT had 46 punts. TT has gone from averaging 2 punts per game to this year's 5; and we had 5 punts in just the 1st Qrt against OSU. The link is to the NCAA's 2008 Net Punt statistics; Tech is found at the bottom - one category TT shouldn't mind bringing up the rear.

Did Potts show any sign and/or symptom of a mTBI ?

In April, the NCAA released a set of guidelines mandating that each school establish its own concussion "management plan." These plans must stipulate that a player who shows symptoms of a concussion may not return to practice or play on that day. Texas Tech University Department of Athletic Training Sports Medicine Policies and Procedures Handbook 2010 starting on page 79 states in part: At the first sign and/or symptom of a concussion or mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI), the staff athletic trainer will take the following steps: I. Remove the athlete from athletic activity/competition. II. Notify the coaching staff of the respective sport as soon as possible. III. Perform an appropriate evaluation of the student-athlete. IV. Upon evaluation, if the staff athletic trainer suspects the student-athlete does have a concussion, he/she will remove the student-athlete athlete from further practice or competition for the remainder of the day.

What I Liked About The TT v OSU Game

I liked the BLACK helmets and jerseys. I liked that we didn't kick an onside kick. I liked that we didn't have to face a fake punt. I liked it when "Sticks" started warming up on the sidelines -...

Dallas Morning News - Tubs trying to restore Confidence

Good article by Chuck Carlton. These two statements stand out: Tech hasn't lost to Baylor since 1995. In the Mike Leach era (2000-2009), the average score was 43-13. Tech's defense ranks 81st nationally, which is deceptive. The Red Raiders haven't faced an offense ranked higher than No. 50 SMU this year. (Baylor is ranked 15th)

Regarding all white jerseys

I found this reference where TT went to an all-white uniform after Leach's arrival.

Time for Texas Tech to put up or shut up

How much more time? How many more chances?

How much more time does Coach Tuberville need to take the Texas Tech Red Raiders to the next level? How many more games does Coach Tuberville need before we start looking like real contenders for...

My favorite plays during the TT v UT game

TT play of the game: Jarvis Phillips 87 Yd Interception Return, probably giving UT QB Gilbert his hardest hit when he was the last Longhorn to try to tackle Jarvis as he raced to a TT TD. UT play of the game: Longhorn Safety Blake Gideon hammers an unsuspecting Adam James after Potts’ throw goes high and long.
