Looking Into The Off-Season: Jermaine Dye or Jim Thome
This is going to be a very busy off-season for Kenny Williams. One of the busier ones he has had in awhile. The question really isn't who are the Sox going to go after this off-season, but who are they going to keep. The two names that pop into every ones head is Dye and Thome. Dye and Thome deserve all the credit in the world for making the Sox a successful franchise over the past 4 years. They have grinded though thick and thin, and gained the respect of everyone across the league. Unfortunately, our time of having the duo of Dye and Thome in the heart of the order is about to run out. All of us know, including Kenny Williams, that one of them has to go. Only one player can comeback next year, and fill the position of DH. Unfortunately, this is going to be one of the harder decisions Kenny Williams will have to make. Let's take a look at the stats of the two first.

Tigers Josh Anderson DFA'd. Possible replacement for Anderson?
The Tigers designated outfielder Josh Anderson for assignment to make room for Carlos Guillen, according to MLB.com's Jason Beck. Anderson, 26, hit .242/.282/.315 with no homers in 74 games with the Tigers. He played all three outfield positions for the Tigers, and defended well in limited innings. White Sox may be interested as center field is still an issue along with Brian Anderson now wanting out.
Poreda sent down. Torres called up.
Mark Gonzalez, Chicago Tribune, is reporting that the Chicago White Sox have purchased the contract of Carlos Torres from AAA Charlotte.
Shingo Takatsu is still alive
According to Patrick at NPB Tracker, the Giants have signed reliever Shingo Takatsu to a minor league contract. He tried out for the team in May, and will report to Triple-A Fresno once his visa paperwork clears.
Takatsu last pitched in the majors for the Mets in 2005. He finished second in the 2004 AL Rookie of the Year voting with the White Sox thanks to a 2.31 ERA and 19 saves.
More Cubans for Kenny
According to John Manuel of Baseball America, Cuban defectors Noel Arguellez and Jose Iglesias have been declared free agents by Major League Baseball after clearing the unblocking process. Both players defected while in Canada last July for the World Junior Championships.
Arguellez is a 19-yr old lefthanded pitcher that Manuel says has drawn Francisco Liriano comparisions. Iglesias, also 19, is said to be a shortstop in the Orlando Cabrera mold. Jamie Torrez, the agent for both players, says he has been contacted by several teams already, but did not speculate on any bonus demands.
