Pride Of Detroit Some Interesting Factoids About Offensive Pass Interference

(Ed. note: Great stuff. Bumped to the front page.)

These come courtesy of The Football Database. I've helpfully sorted the relevant portions by links.

Link 1 - Penalties by team for 2011, sorted by number of OPI's called.

Link 2 - Penalties by player for 2011.

I merely present these to give people an idea of how bizarrely the game was called.

Pride Of Detroit Ask the Bye Week

So, Lions fans, this is the week you face the bye. It's going to be tough, no two ways about it - no one has ever beaten the bye, and it goes through the entire NFL without mercy. The bye has made the playoffs every year since 1978, as well, in sharp contrast to the Lions' inability to reach the playoffs since 1999. Safe to say we'll have to resume our winning ways against the Bears next week - in the meantime, put your questions for fans of the bye here, and we'll see if someone will show up and answer them.

The Falcoholic Ask the Pride of Detroit (or some facsimile thereof)

Since no one else has done it for some reason, I'll step up to the plate. Falcons fans, if you've got any questions regarding the Detroit Lions, I'll do my best to BS some replies until other, more competent members show up and correct me. I would tell you as an NIU fan that it's nice to see the Burner doing the job in the NFL, but I'll make an exception this week, because he scares the heebies out of me going against my Lions. In any case, I hope for a good game, no injuries, and a Lions win, and then you guys can beat the stuffing out of the Aints and the Bucs for us all year long if you want. 8D

Pride Of Detroit Not the same old Lions to me (With Poll!)

So I got done watching the Vikes-Lions game. I wasn't in the comments section with ya'll because I wanted to be able to actually focus on the broadcast - living in northern Illinois, I'm used to any feeds I get being on my computer monitor, not my actual TV. So I admit, I awaited this game with dread. And I'm happy to report that, even though we lost, I at least got a GOOD look at the Lions with my own eyes and saw what all the fuss was about.

I have to say before we go below the jump, I'm excited about everything but the final score and our record. And you should be too.

Pride Of Detroit Tired of blaming rookie salaries?

I know I am VERY tired of hearing others do the same. If I had a nickel for every time I heard someone complain about overpaid rookies in the NFL, I could pay Suh's contract out of my pocket with change left over to pay Shawn Kemp's child support, too. It's a BS argument that the owners use as a distraction to get people off the side of the players in negotiation. Let me clue you in on the biggest reason they want this rookie salary cap below the jump.
