NoceNews #2 Getting in the groove
Our (mine, actually) favorite Argentinean starts to heat up, shaking off the rust in a couple of strong games. In a 92-87 victory against Fuenlabrada, Nocioni scores 22 points (7-11 FG), grabs 5 rebounds and had 3 assists in 30mins of action.
In an earlier loss to Joventut (68-66), Nocioni ended up with 9 points (3-8 FG), 10 rebounds and 1 assist.
So far, this Nocioni's best scoring game. He's averaging 11.4 points, 4 rebounds and 1 assist in 7 games that have largely been split in the middle as far as wins and losses are concerned. But it is only in the last 3 games that Noce's minutes have normalized in the 30min PT area.
In the meantime, the Sixers vs Bull series have become extremely interesting (although I'm sad it took a DRose injury to make it so.)

NoceNews Part 1: Alicante and Real Madrid
Andres Nocioni made his Caja Laboral debut about a week ago, scoring 10 points (4-5, 2-3 3PT) and grabbing 1 rebound in 14 minutes against Alicante. He scored 10 of Caja Laboral's first 12 points then missed his only attempt in the third quarter as he was played sparingly after that. Caja Laboral lost 72-71.

El Chapu vuelve a casa!
Nocioni goes back to Baskonia. Just thought I'd share.
Argentina beats Paraguay, Nocioni with a nice transition dunk and a smooth three. Nocioni scored 10 points and had 5 rebounds in this game.
Although Noce (most probably) won't be back...
...I just wanted to update you guys on how he's doing in the FIBA Americas Tournament.
In the game versus Venezuela which Argentina won 84-52, Noce played 22 mins, scored 10points on 4-9 FG (1-3 3PT), 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal.
In the game versus Uruguay which Argentina won 86-51, Noce played 25 mins, scored 16points, on 7-8 FG (2-2 from 3PT), 10 rebounds and 2 assists. Scola led the Argentinians with 18points and 4 rebounds.
A Plea: Can Nocioni Get 10mins of PT?
Everyone knows I like Nocioni, which is why no one is surprised that I'm appealing that he gets PT.
Here's my attempt of using facts to convince you guys that playing Nocioni at least 10mins a game isn't so bad.
(To be clear, I am in no way saying he should start over Iguodala or that he should play ahead of Thad Young or Evan Turner. I'm just saying I don't think he should be bench fodder.)
Nocioni's Birthday Buster!
Having been duly challenged to create a Nocioni Birthday post, I decided to crunch some numbers and give you 31 numbers and how they figure in Nocioni's life now.
More after the jump...

In the last three games had little involvement. Toronto appeared to me blisters on my heels complicated to run. To the following parties was better, but did not increase my minutes. The reappearance of Andre Iguodala, who is playing at high level and is the protagonist, I took some time.
What I hope is not happening is that the franchise has decided to give more space to young and less experienced, because that would make me see most of the games from the bench.
The relationship and communication with the coach has not changed. I had no problem with it. Beyond this reduction in playing time, I can not complain. I'm not a star and accept the conditions. So far I had more involvement than he expected before the season.
We are not going to give anything to forward Andres Nocioni. Instead, we are going to ask him to give some of his intensity and inner fire to his teammates. Once he hits the court, the man is as mean as an angry pit bull, which is surely something this team could use more of.
Then, Miami, put together a great circus with the hiring of LeBron James and Chris Bosh to join Dwyane Wade but have not yet proved to be a team that can be taken as candidates to be champion. Have great potential but lack best fit. So far, Los Angeles Lakers, Boston Celtics and San Antonio Spurs are better than Miami. Also, playing against the computer revolutionized the climate in the stadium is an extra motivation.
THERE was real evidence last night that the 76ers were trying to get back to the basics of the game. At halftime the players usually saunter on to the court at different times and take some outside shots before the horn blows to start the second half.
Last night though, encouraged by forward Andres Nocioni, the team formed two lines and proceeded to go through normal layup drill.
When Iguodala returns, Doug Collins seemed to be considering (at some point) a starting lineup of Jrue Holiday, Evan Turner, and Andre Iguodala. Collins said, "It could, it could," when asked if mention of him liking the Holiday/Turner combo might mean we'll see a starting lineup including those three.
Nocioni on starting, what's keeping the Sixers from winning and what he brings to the table.

Sixers looking to get back to defensive mindset
NBA.com article on Sixers focusing on defense.
Ask Colangelo if he has a roster in mind, and he has a joke at the ready: "I'll take the first 12 guys that call." But ask a few follow-ups, and you get a pretty good sense of which players are keepers. Colangelo praised Lamar Odom ("He provided veteran leadership and did a sensational job against bigger guys"), Russell Westbrook ("Sensational. His energy is something you can't teach") and Andre Iguodala ("He shut down anyone and everyone"). Toss in Kevin Durant ("He's the entire package"), and at least part of the framework is in place.
Kevin Durant gets it done on D!
Ten rookies with a chance to shine this season
Evan Turner comes in at number 7.
PW gives props to Reke, JT, Donte, Noce and basically everybody else.
"I apologize," Evans said in the visitors' locker room before facing the Blazers. "It was me being frustrated and wanting to win. But me as a rookie, I should have pulled him over on the side and said, 'You know, that wasn't a good shot,' instead of putting him on blast in front of a crowd like that."
"We were in the game, and you come down and take bad shots?" Evans said of the situation. "That's not team basketball. Coach didn't say nothing, so I thought I had to step up (and say something).
"I didn't play well this year, the whole year," he said. "It's no shot (at) the coach. It's about me. I think I need to take care of me. I need to play well.
"In the NBA, the train passes really fast, so you need to take it. Right now, I feel like I (missed) my train, but you never know when the next train is coming, so I need to take it."
Tyreke with the great pass to a streaking Chapu!
As I said this morning, it's gotten to the point where if I were an NBA GM, I just wouldn't even make eye contact with Daryl Morey, let alone negotiate a trade with him. It's like sitting down at a high stakes poker table. Doesn't matter what cards you have—just by sitting down, you're setting yourself up for embarrassment. That's Daryl Morey at this point.
Beno Udrih and Andres Nocioni are on fire in the first half against the Pistons!

NOCIONI: CHANGING HIS GAME?
I’ve noticed something weird about Andres Nocioni in the last 2 games…
When he came here from Chicago, his reputation was that of a “knock ‘em down” three point shooter who played aggressive defense.
In his first 23 games with the Kings last season, he averaged 13.7points, 6 rebounds 1.6 assists, .448 FG% and .441 on 3PT’s.
This season, Nocioni came off the bench, became a starter, was relegated to the end of the bench, and has swung back and forth from 5mins/game to 24mins/game.
His season averages are at their lowest since his rookie season: 8.9points, 3.1rebs, 1.1 assists, .402 FG% and .372 3PT’s.
Something needed to be done and it seemed to me like Nocioni has changed his game recently to try and contribute in a different way.
HOW?
By trying to shift from a three point shooter to a slasher/shooter.
