Know what these numbers are? The number of votes received in last weeks AP Poll by FSU and BYU respectively. If I understand AP polling correctly that means that only one writer gave us one 25th place vote. Talk about a lack of respect!

Tomahawk Nation Against BYU The Best Defense Is A Good Offense

I'm new to the Nation and this is my first post so please forgive me if I address a subject that's already active in another thread.  It seems to me that one statistic more than any other will be crucial to the 'Noles success against BYU: and that would be Time Of Possession.  The best thing that the coaches can do for the struggling Seminole defense is to keep the BYU offense off of the field as much as possible.  If the offense can maintain some long, sustained drives early and take a lead to allow the defense to build some confidence I do believe that they are capable of making some big plays.  The difference between a well-rested defense playing with a lead and a tired defense playing back on their heels is everything.  This being said, the way that this would normally be accomplished would be through establishing the running game game early and imposing the will of the offensive line on the defense.  Unfortunately, I don't think that the 'Noles are capable of doing this against BYU.  What the 'Nole offense should be able to do is utilize the short passing game like a running game to control the clock with things like slip screens, bubble screens and the like.  BYU should have matchup problems with FSU's receivers in the open field in one on one situations.  To sum it up: the clock is the 'Noles best friend and they should strive to keep it running.  The lower the overall score of this game is the better the Seminoles' chance of winning.
