I was surprised how many people expressed interest in joining before I even put up a post. The league rules will be default Yahoo settings. There will be 12 teams and a live draft. I set the draft for Sat Sep 1st at 9:30pm EDT but that is not a solid date, completely negotiable to when we can get as many as possible to attend. Between my WRs scoring just over 10 points combined, my kicker getting injured after the opening kickoff, and Pitt's D scoring -3, I was doomed to lose this week no matter who I faced. The teams are set and the draft is in. This is not only my first time as league Commissioner, but it was also my first live draft. Only two managers weren't there for the start of the draft, and one of those did make it before the draft was over. Overall it was a fun experience and i was glad to see so many people were able to attend.

I felt sick at two points in the draft, picks 56 and 104. I also got made fun of for picking a defense so early. I really didn't have any strategy to my draft other than don't pick Braylon. Everyone else had the same strategy as well and he ended up going to the one manager who didn't make it for the live draft on auto-pick.

A couple people volunteered for the job of the rebel league commish but nothing ever seemed to materialize, so I decided to make one on Yahoo. The settings will be the default Yahoo settings, and spots will be received on a first come first serve basis. I chose to make it an autopick draft for now, but that can be discussed and voted on by the managers that join. There are eleven open spots available. Any more than 12 teams and I imagine the pickings would be pretty slim on the waiver wire. To receive a spot simply put your email address in the comment section, or have it available in your profile and let me know you are interested. Please make sure that if you are going to join that you will be able to be active for the entire season. A win feels kind of dirty when two of the other teams players are injured and 3 of them are on a bye week. Also, once the R/A is filled up, I don't mind someone else using this post as a springboard to starting a fourth league as there seemed to be very heavy interest in a third league.

I decided to do the music thread because I have a very broad taste in music. I like a little bit of just about any genre, though I don't classify certain musical acts the same way some do. The Eagles are a good example of this, I'm not too fond of country, some people consider them country, I don't and like them as a band. Here are a few of the genres with a few acts for each. Seems like every thing this guy or the owners say is a PR move. No replacement players huh? If what I gather on DBN is correct there can be no replacement players because the work stoppage is on the owners here, not because of a player strike. Anybody here that's savvy in the NFL rulebook that cares to rule in on this?

The other thing in this article that made me laugh was when he said that he didn't know how long the last offer would stay on the table. That same deal that the players already rejected. That same deal that took the owners four years to come up with and couldn't produce until thirty minutes before the negotiation deadline. The more Goodell talks, the less I like him.

Here's why this upsets me:

According to the statement, "Cottrell said he reduced the fines because the players said they understood the rules and have made efforts to adjust their techniques to play with the rules that protect player safety."

As I remember Harrison was vividly squawking about how he wouldn't change his style of play to fit the "new rules". When someone has been fined twice for dirty hits after said dirty hit, it would seem they don't deserve to get their fines reduced.

As the season draws to a close, one area of heated discussion lately has been whether or not to fire Mangini and find a new coach. My position is probably already well known around here so I'll leave that be. What follows is a small amount of stats that show an area where the team has improved since last season. Could it be a sign of good coaching?

We were scored 15.25 PPG and were outscored by 8.3 PPG.

We scored 17.5 PPG and were only outscored by 2 PPG.

If we play to those averages against the Steelers it will look like this:

Last year we drafted defensively in the first and second round and it's seemed to pan out. Caution: speculation ahead. If we can have that kind of draft this year offensively (say a WR and RT in no specific order) we may see the kind of improvement next year to our offense that our defense saw this year. I am all for the Hoheini Triumvirate staying as is.
