Hawpe to sign with Rays
Meh. I don't have high hopes for this, but it's worth a shot, I guess.
Rays rotation falling apart; Hellickson being readied for return
Great timing. Ugh.
Jake McGee and Leslie Anderson moving to Durham
Leslie's getting closer . . .
Hellickson pulled after three scoreless innings
Apparently for workload concerns, not a trade.
Nice outing by Matt Moore against the Yankees
The Tampa Yankees, that is:
7 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 10 K but no decision.
David Price named AL Starter for All-Star Game
Well deserved. Go get 'em.
Joel Sherman: M's GM Zduriencik likes Smoak better than Jesus Montero and Desmond Jennings
And both Smoak and Montero ranked ahead of Jennings on the Mariners' wish list.
Interesting trade post-mortem discussion. I predict outrage from the Jennings loyalists.
Oh, how the mighty have fallen . . .
Scott Kazmir surrendered 13 runs in 5 innings tonight, including a grand slam by Rajai Davis, a three-run blast by Coco Crisp, and a solo shot by Daric Barton.
Oh my.
Multiple Reports: Cliff Lee soon to be a Yankee (Ugh)
Well, wouldn't that just be a kick in the gut. Or insert your own similarly painful metaphor here.
Soriano a snub no more!
From the linked Heater post:
Tampa Bay Rays closer Rafael Soriano was named to the AL All-Star team today, replacing Mariano Rivera of the Yankees, who withdrew due to injuries.
Soriano was chosen because he had the next-highest total on the players' ballot.
Gammons: Upton for Lee?
Per Peter Gammons (insert huge shaker of salt here), the talk at the Trop last night was a potential Rays/M's deal involving Cliff Lee for B.J. Upton. Could the BJ haters, Wade Davis haters, and Desmond Jennings lovers all get their wish simultaneously???
Navarro, agents head to court
Perhaps the days of Kendall Almerico's unreasonably optimistic Tweets about his client Dioner Navarro are past....
Almerico's partner, Brian Mooney, filed suit on behalf of their agency, Startrust Management, Inc. against Dioner Navarro, Sherley Navarro, and the Dioner Navarro Family Foundation, Inc. for an alleged breach of agreement for services rendered. (Case No. 10-CA-3169-I, Thirteenth Circuit Court). No word yet on the specific allegations in the lawsuit.
Oh the humanity.
