Cubs and Brewers Fans Unite!
...around a common hatred of the Mets. With the Phillies up early on Florida as I write this and the Mets choking away another game, it looks like the wildcard will come down to the Brewers and Mets.
We have an opportunity to help our neighbors to the North and instill some goodwill to counteract the more obnoxious members of our respective fan bases. Also, if the Brewers finally make it, it speaks to the strength of our division.
While we need to play the Brewers tough for the last series of the year for integrity's sake, I think the Cubs could provide a final measure of payback for 1969 and take out the cesspool known as Shea Stadium in style with a series victory, all the while helping our fellow NL Central team.
It would be interesting to get Santo's take on this. I'm sure he would thoroughly enjoy the payback in contributing to another Mets collapse.
In addition, if the Brewers are going to take this wildcard, it's going to be at home against the Pirates, whom they have owned this year.
I for one do NOT have any animosity towards the Brew Crew, except when we play them. I have much more contempt for the Mets and their fan base.
What say you all? Can we help a fellow (NL Central Team) out?
