Grew up in the East Bay. Went to High School in Oakland. Car-pooled with a player on the A's (catcher Jeff Newman) in the late 70s and early 80s when in school with his son Tommy. Took BART to games from High School and when home in the summer from college. Root for the A's now from Virginia where my daughters - born here - are A's fans (much to my O's fan wife's chagrin) and loved to play Marco-Scuttaro in the swiming pool and when the A's visit Baltimore or Washington.
