Arrowhead Pride Maybe Matt Cassel Can Flourish in a Daboll Offense

Brian Daboll was Chad Pennington's quarterbacks coach with the Jets in 2007. And although Pennington had been in the league for seven years before hooking up with Daboll, Chad still attributes most of his football knowledge to the tutelage of Brian Daboll :

"The year I spent with him (Daboll), I just learned so much about how defenses attack offenses, and all of the nuances of coverage that I didn't understand before. He made me a better quarterback - why we are running certain plays, and why we were attacking certain coverages the way we were."

Brian Daboll talking at his introductory press conference as the Miami Dolphins new offensive coordinator about how he plans to work with Chad Henne:

"This is a quarterback-friendly system, where the quarterback is going to be able to make a lot of adjustments at the line of scrimmage. I'm going to take an active role in being with him in the meetings and getting him to develop the way I think he can."

From what I've read about Matt Cassel's work ethic and intelligence, this may work out to be a good match. The jury is still out on all involved but I'm anxious to see what can be produced from this new dynamic duo.

Arrowhead Pride Don't forget about the 30% rule

Carr's salary in 2012 can’t be more than 30% greater than his salary in 2011. Signing bonuses don’t count toward the 30% rule. So, 30% of Carr’s 1 yr contract he signed in 2011 for $2.61 million is $783,000. Let’s say for argument sake that Carr was asking for a 5 year $50 million dollar contract like Flowers received. The break down would be as follows, adding $783,000 to each year:

Year 1: $3,393,000

Year 2: $4,176,000

Year 3: $4,959,000

Year 4: $5,742,000

Year 5: $6,525,000

These numbers total a 5 year salary of $24,795,000. That means the Chiefs would have to guarantee Carr $25,205,000. Flowers contract was only $22 million guaranteed. I don’t see the Chiefs or any other NFL team making that move; guaranteeing over 50 percent of his entire contract. Taking that into consideration, if that is the type of money he is asking for, the decision to let him walk is a more logical choice than overpaying for his services. Hopefully he will be franchised and traded if he is going to depart KC (as some of you have mentioned). If anyone sees a problem with my numbers please let me know.

Arrowhead Pride Ray Lewis and Ed Reed WOW!!!

I can hardly wait for the three Amigos to get this team stocked with players of this caliber. Not only will it be fun to watch, it will be fun to brag on how good our team is. The day that we will be favorites to win our division will be the day I may purchase my first season ticket. Even though these guys are gonna be tough to beat, they are beatable. I just hope we get no one injured in this quest to kick the sh*t out of those birds.
