The Phinsider Statement from the Miami Dolphins

Per miamidolphins.com;

"Jeff Ireland will assume full control over all aspects and decisions in regard to the Miami Dolphins football team and support staff. "

It goes on to say that Bill Parcells will remain with the club as a consultant.

I think we all knew it would come one day... but I am very curious by the timing of this announcement.  I believe Ireland has been "in control" along with Bill.... but announcing something like this 5 days before week 1 game, etc.  Thoughts?

The Phinsider Surprise at #12??

So, I was listening to Sirius NFL radio on my ride into work and Gil Brandt mentioned that he had just spoken to Bill Parcells about the upcoming draft.  He mentioned that while he cannot reveal specifically what they spoke of, he did provide a little insight.  Brandt said that if we end up staying at #12 (not move down) we'll be surprised by the pick.

I guess, first off, that indicates we wouldn't be moving up and we may move down.  But let's assume we stay at #12... what pick would make you surprised?  Personally, I don't think picking Earl Thomas, Eric Berry, Sergio Kindle, Dan Williams, Derrick Morgan, Brandon Graham to name a few would be a surprise pick.  Would we still draft Dez Bryant if available?  Is the pick CJ Spiller if available?  Joe Haden? T Cody? J Gresham? T Mays? Kyle Wilson?

What do you think; assuming we'll be surprised at #12?

The Phinsider NT Options??

Gerard Warren has been released by the Oakland Raiders - 6'4'' 325 Pounds.  (per PFT)  I honestly do not know anything about him but he is 31 with 9 Years under his belt.  Former 1st Round pick.

With limited FAs available and Ferg's troubles; could he be a fit in a 3-4 with our fins?

PFT also said "Although Warren has started all 32 games in the last two seasons for the Raiders and still occasionally shows flashes of the athleticism that made him the third overall pick in the 2001 NFL draft, he's 31 years old and not likely to get any big-money offers in free agency.

Warren had a career-low two sacks in 2009."

The Phinsider Frustrating... wildcat is tired

For the past couple/few weeks the wildcat hasn't been the same.  It's terribly frustrating... this game... particularly; Chad Henne is completing throws for 1st downs... then gets pulled for the WildCat and/or WildPat and gets to get back under center for 3rd n 12; 3rd n 19.... etc etc.  Please... we have to let the kid throw... he's making the throws.  The pats consistantly have 8 in the box... let him throw!!

Which brings me to the Ted Ginn topic.  We all know he's the only one that can stretch the field or pose as a deep threat.  We all know he's been disappointing and drops balls.  BUT he's gotta get time on the field as a WR.  It will only open things up.

Just frustrated... and I hate the Patsies.

The Phinsider Another one (CB) bites the dust

According to PFT, the Pats have signed Bodden to a 1 Year Deal.  This is somewhat interesting to me; I don't believe NE has made a habbit of spending money back there.  Springs and Bodden could make a nice/decent tandem.

I'm very interested to see if we do pick up a free agent.  I really woundn't mind seeing us draft 2 CB's in rounds 1-5.

The Phinsider Henne ready?

I saw this on PFT this morning... but hopefully the link to the article works.

“We’ll see how it all plays out coming up this year. I would assume he’d (CP) be the starter at the beginning, but who knows, we’ll see how it plays out.” - Henne

I love the attitude/confidence.  For some reason I am really excited by this comment.

Thoughts?  Depending on how things go this season... at what point (scenario) do we make the "switch".

The Phinsider FA Corners

What's the latest y'all have heard on some of the "decent" free agent cornerbacks still out there?

i.e. Leigh Bodden, Bryant McFadden, Jabari Greer

What are some others that you think would make good "fillers" in the rotation? I'd like to see us grab one FA corner... at a reasonable price and draft a future stud in the first 3 rounds....  to go along with Will Allen....

let's go dolphins

The Phinsider Gabril Wilson

I just read that the Raiders have cut Gabril Wilson; not sure what kind of fit he would be for the Dolphins... but I am wondering what effect do you think this will have for Y BELL.

Bell is possibly the best FA Safety.....  until Wilson's release?  If nothing else, maybe this will help our chances for retaining Bell.

I'm sure there are enough teams hunting for a quality safety.... i'm hoping we can get one of these quality veteran's.

Assuming same price tag who would you prefer; Wilson or Bell?  I guess Wilson is younger...
